Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

Sitting atop an artist studio, the second floor is a private guest room with a private entrance and a porch with a view of the woods and fields. The room has a queen bed, bathroom with a shower, microwave, coffee maker and a mini fridge. An outdoor grill can be made available.

The apartment is one of many buildings on an 80 acre private residence. Guests have access to over 2 miles of walking trails. A tributary of the Suwannee River (Robinson Branch) running thru its middle has a bridge connecting to another part of the property and is a short walk down a nature trail.

Foxes, hawks, deer and nesting eagles are your neighbors. Deer ofter ramble around the fields and are reminders that you are in the country.

We offer sattelite tv service but no internet. Remember, you want that country living experience. Cell service is quite good.

The house is 6 miles from the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park... ideal for those wanting to experience the Folk Festival.

Its very private and very much in the country. Peace and quiet are the main attractions. No traffic noise here as we are 1/2 mile down a dirt road. The moon and the stars are our best neighbors.

About Melissa Russell

Randy and Melissa love the great outdoors. Both are avid woodworkers. Randy is currently working on his second timber frame building, while his wife turns the leftover wood into bowls. Melissa also welds funky sculptures from found parts, old wrenches and tools take on a new life as yard art.

Randy built all the buildings on this property with an eye towards the Florida Cracker style.

Melissa Russell purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Melissa Russell chose Florida North Central

Why not? Its beautiful! 80 acres to meander in private. We can bird watch, catch foxes on our game camera and keep an eye on Monroe the gator who has taken up residence in our pond. A leisurely walk before breakfast is a must.

What makes this apartment unique

Privacy! Quiet! Peaceful! Getting away from it all is its most precious feature.

North Florida Retreat and a Treat Indeed

  • 5 of 5

This was a second trip to stay near White Springs at this guest apartment. On this visit, we were able to explore the beautiful woods, paths and creek on the 80 lush acres. It is a special place. The host couple, Randy and Melissa, are charming and generous, be it with local info or a glass of wine at the end of the day.

relaxing, beautiful, peaceful,

  • 5 of 5

If you every need to a place to just get away this is the place. We had the most relaxing time. The apartment was just the right size and was so nice. Randy and Melissa had everything we needed. Randy let us walk with him on his morning hike thru the woods, what a great time this was and we got the full monty show of the property. Melissa has many talents one being the art work all over that she has made. And oh what a great cook she is. Since we live within a couple hours drive we will go back many times I am very sure. I give this a 5 star for the place and the host. Brian and Laura Largo Florida

Great Place To Stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our two nite stay here. The beautiful room in the barn was perfect for us. Everything we needed and more was included. The room was spotless and the bed was super comfortable. The area surrounding the property is great for hiking and exploring. Randy dropped us off for a 4 mile hike along the Suwannee River which was enjoyable. We could not have been treated better. Randy and Melissa's is close to the Stephen Foster Cultural Center which we visited. A great two days. We highly recommend. Thanks for everything.

Close to Suwannee River as well as the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.

The park is home to the Florida Folk Festival held every year over the Memorial Day weekend featuring a famous headliner as well as local talent. The park is open to tourists with live demonstrations and a pretty nifty gift shop. Canoeing access is available at many locations along the Suwannee and Withlacoothie rivers. Itcetucknee Springs is a short drive and a great tubing and snorkeling experience. The Florida Trail runs right thru our property and is a marvelous hiking opportunity.

The North Florida bicycle association holds its ididaride event just 6 miles away. 30 miles to Itchtucknee river which offers great tubing and canoeing.
