A lovely and spacious house that made a great base for our 2 families as we enjoyed the snow.

  • 3 of 5

There are some practical improvements that would easily benefit future guests:

Coat hooks to hang jackets

Towel rails in the bathrooms

Adequate supply of bowls and plates for 8 people

Another chair at table so 8 people can dine together

Suitable solution store ski equipment at the end of each day - not at all ideal to keep in house

Amazing Tahoe Home in the Chateaus of the Mountains, close to everything! MUST STAY AGAIN!!

  • 5 of 5

We were very excited and enjoyed our stay. It was a great addition to many firsts for our family that visits Tahoe every year. I was glad to find the home in superb condition. I know they have a busy season but everything was in order, organized and clean. The streets were plowed and around the home. The home had great space, feel, decor, and so many extras that we felt was beyond other homes we have stayed at. We loved the hot tub and bathtub in master suite. Great location and close to everything. It didn't feel like a rental, it had a home feel and made our family trip smooth and memorable. We are coming back for sure and also looking forward to staying at Michael's other vacation homes!!!!

Serene stay in the forest and overall amazing homestay in Tahoe!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic stay at this rental. The house was very clean and well-organized. It had everything in working order as described. The hot tub was in great working condition and was wonderful during the cold evenings. The fireplace did an amazing job keeping the house warm and ambiance for our chateau. The view from the back patio is fantastic, it really feels like you do not have any neighbors. There was a tons of snow when we were there so got our full winter experience. It made for a day at home since the whole city was shutdown but great for the kids to play outside. I was glad to find it very welcoming and warm on arrival. I will definitely stay here again in the future!!!

Beautiful home but needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

We had a terrible issue with the reservation after the initial booking. Apparently the reservation was lost and there was quite a bit of back and forth with property management and VRBO to get it taken care of. We were not notified that we would not have access to the garage until the day of our arrival. It was a terrible snow storm and it would have been nice to park the vehicles in the garage. Having to park in the driveway also presented quite a problem on the day of departure when the person came to snow blow the driveway with our vehicles present while we were trying to pack and load our vehicles. I was even the recipient of a personal snow storm courtesy of the snow blower when he did not see me trying to put the garbage out! Inside, one could tell this was once a lovely home and for the price I assumed it would be pristine. However, immediately I noticed it was not very clean. The floor had not been swept (which I did and found broken glass), furniture was dusty, stove top was greasy, refrigerator dirty inside, kitchen cabinets untidy and disorganized. There was dirty towels in the washer. There were enormous ants on one of the walls in the kitchen and the countertops. The window coverings were broken in several spots. Decks had not been shoveled so they were dangerous with ice. No window coverings on one of the downstairs bedrooms made us feel uncomfortable to use the room. The gas fireplace was on when we arrived and would not go off. It got so hot in the upstairs we finally had to call the property manager to send someone to fix it. One of the upstairs toilets had a broken float arm which we found out too late and had to try to fix ourselves. When the repairman came he thought he fixed it but it didn't work again after one flush. The gorgeous hardwood floors were quite water damaged in spots as was the ceiling. I mentioned this to the repairman as I was concerned that maybe the owner was unaware of the issues. Maybe for some vacationers the things I have mentioned would not be problematic. However, as a landlord and vacation property owner myself, I pride myself in presenting a home that a renter, upon arrival, immediately feels warm, welcomed and relaxed-as they should on vacation. Having said all of the above, the layout of the home is very nice and conducive to some quality family time which is what I had with my five daughters.

Owner's Response: Dear Shirley, We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced. Garage can be used, if asked for. We have had problems in the past with people running into things and leaving the garage in unsanitary conditions. We did experience the biggest winter in 10 years and we need help from all to make sure snow and ice is removed, and apologize on bothering our guests to move cars and such, but if things don't get removed ice snow will be compacted and build up. The fireplace can be shutoff normally at any time by simply turning the fireplace thermostat to the off position, When that doesn't work there is a gas shutoff valve underneath the thermostat. We do try and accommodate the best we can with being on call 24/7 and having our repair man on call as well. We pride ourselves with a clean and warm environment and your issues will be looked into ASAP. We do apologize, and thank you for your feedback. Sincerely Codie Johnson (property manager)

Top rated accommodation, great view, comfortable, private and plenty of amenities!!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful kitchen with a lot of amenities, plenty of room for my family, great deck with hot tub and view. We loved the upstairs dining room area to hang out. TV was great and beds were comfortable. The house is located on a quiet street with a nice backyard full of nature and trees. You feel that you are far away from town but close to South Lake Tahoe downtown, restaurants, walking distance to mountain (but probably drive with all your gear) etc in 2-3 minutes. The property manager and owner were readily available for anything we needed but things were very self explanatory. Also love the keyless entry was helpful when arriving late. I would recommend!! If I ever make it to South Lake Tahoe again, I will try to see at the same house! BTW - hanging around Emerald Bay on your visit is a must...

Beautiful Clean and Spacious Great House, Great Owners! Great Property Manager! Great Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

The location of the property is good for people looking for some privacy, but still be located near the casinos, bars and dinner hot spots. The property is well maintained and you can tell the owner has pride of ownership with artwork of his travels around the house. The owner Mike and property manager Codie are extremely nice, provide excellent customer service and are eager to do whatever they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. I'd recommend this property to friends and relatives who want a 5+ rating star with the full star treatment. We have comfortable beds, full kitchen, close to mountain and overall great stay! It was our first time to Tahoe and will be back at this house in the summer.
