The Newport/Waldport area offers crabbing, fishing (salt and fresh water), beach combing, aquariums, breweries, restaurants, shopping, golfing, hiking and scenic drives. Great cozy

  • 4 of 5

I went to search for a rental for an upcoming trip and realized I hadn't written a review from staying at this home last year. Oops. My bad. So here goes to testing my memory;

There were 8 adults/4 couples at this stay. We were looking for somewhere to watch the waves from as we assumed in November the weather would be wet and rainy. Our view from the home was more than spectacular. Huge picture windows encased the living room. We all sat in comfy couches and chairs and watched the ocean do its thing. Then we got a break in the weather one of the afternoons and had a pleasant walk on the beach. The stairs seemed sturdy and well built with a hand rail along the way.

The dining room was plenty big for the 8 of us to gather around for meals. There was another nook with seating that we didn't use as we all fit fine at the main table. The kitchen was well stocked with pans for all our cooking needs. Oodles of plates and silverware. We did have to use the washer and dryer downstairs as we had a spill at dinner one night onto the table cloth. Easy as pie though to fix that problem.

We all had private bedrooms to sleep in. 3 of the bedrooms had nice views and you could hear the ocean as you drifted off to sleep. The 4th bedroom was downstairs so no view but was very private.

There was another gathering room downstairs that I think would be great if you had kids along. We didn't use it though as we all wanted to hang out in the same room.

There was a rabbit who lived somewhere nearby we enjoyed watching everyday as he played in the yard. The location has a very country feel to it. Not like in a crowded subdivision.

If you are in need of bread or dessert head to Pacific Sourdough Handcrafted Specialty Bread. I should rephrase that to be go there. There is no reason to miss this place. I have no association with this company. We just stumbled upon them one day and couldn't get enough of them after that. 740 NE Mill St, Waldport, OR 97394-3017

May you enjoy your stay here as we surely did. Blessings.

Wonderful Family Vacation on the Coast

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here over Labor Day Weekend 2015. This was a great find for our family reunion, which consisted of 14 adults and 6 kids (all under age 5). We rented both properties, which worked out wonderfully. We used the main house for the families with young kids and the littler house for the adults without kids. The big house is an older house, with a little more closed off layout. However, the views and beach access are fantastic and can't be beat for the price. The front room and the beach access were definitely the highlights of the property for us. It's only about 15 minutes from Newport and only a few minutes from Waldport. I highly recommend this property; it was the best for the price. The owner is great to work with and can answer any questions you have. We will definitely be back for a longer visit.

A Gem on Oregon Coast

  • 5 of 5

Our group recently rented the Main House and enjoyed 5 days/4 nights. The house is a bit older with lots of charming characteristics, but the main attractions are the spectacular views from the front room and private access to the beach. We spent the warmer days down at the beach enjoying the tide pools, exploring all the unique rocks and sea creatures. The cooler days found us snuggled up in the front room relaxing as we watched the ocean views and beautiful sunsets each night. We were lucky enough to see eagles, turkey vultures, seals and whales spouting just off the coastline. What a treat!

The location is great, only 15 minutes to Newport and about 10 minutes into Waldport for a grocery store. We also checked out Yachats and spent some time hiking & exploring the Cape Perpetua area.

We had two teenagers in our group who were happy to have the downstairs bunk room and TV room to themselves without the adults getting in the way. The main floor & upstairs rooms can sleep 6 comfortably, however they do need to share one bathroom on the main floor; the second bathroom is downstairs. The kitchen is very well stocked and had everything we needed for our meals. We enjoyed our time at this beautiful location and plan to return again soon.

A Place to Gather; from ages 20 Months to 72 years!

  • 5 of 5

Our 11 member family, from baby to Granddad, traveling from New York, Connecticut, Illinois, and Oregon delighted in the never-ending beauty and 'ocean music' of Windrush. We rented both houses and it was perfect for the over 60s to stay in the Studio House, and the 2 young families to be in the main house. We used the main house for all of our meals; and to the delight of the 4 children, they had a dining nook all to themselves. We walked the beach, played in tide pools, collected driftwood, played bocce, flew a colorful kite, and had the most deliciously air-salted s'mores of all times! Our complete family times together are infrequent, so this was the perfect place to relax and feel the blessings of health and happiness.

A Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a fun filled yet peaceful stay at Windrush. The house is rustic but inviting. It was well stocked and clean. The beach was nearly private with tide pools, crashing waves and ocean going vessels to observe. Kite flying was excellent as well as agate hunts during long strolls on the beach. The view from the living room is breathtaking and hypnotic. We hated to leave and hope to return again.

We loved it here!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for a family reunion--15 of us in the two buildings, coming from all over--and it was a wonderful place with lots of room for all of us to spread out, with beautiful views, the fantastic vast beach spreading in both directions, entertainment for younger kids (fooz ball and ping pong tables) and a "media room" with TV, nearby attractions, and plenty of privacy. Tide pools along the shore just below, broad vistas from the living room, comfortable accommodations, two kitchens ... we would come back anytime!
