About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, sleeps up to 12

Our beach was just distinguished in Cape Cod Magazine's July 2015 issue as "one of the most spectacular gems on Cape Cod."

Incredible house and location. Very private but only about a five to seven minute drive from the heart of the village to get the fresh morning pastries. The beach is underutilized and a five minute walk away. Large lawn to hang out on with plenty of lounges. The bedrooms are all relatively private within the house as well. a screened in patio, Outdoor and indoor showers, great kitchen, views galore ……really an incredible place just to hang out away from the Cape Cod crowds and then go down into the crowds whenever you want. As an extended family we have visited the cape probably a dozen times over the years. This was the best house of the bunch.'

Wow! We could not have said it better ourselves and we didn't. This description and others tell the story from the guest's experience.

Beach photos are of the actual beach you can walk to in about 5 minutes. The walk includes a 2 minute stretch up and over sand dunes.

Not your usual rental. Meant To Be is located wholly within the Cape Cod National Seashore on near 6 acres of privacy. Sunsets galore. Full water views from the house. Over 2,400 square feet on 1 level, no stairs to climb. Fine furniture.

In addition to 4 bedrooms (3 have queens and 1 has twin beds) & 2 baths, there is a separate TV room, a screened-in living/dining/sleeping area (Queen bed) and an incredible (and private) outdoor shower! Sleeps 10/12.

Laundry room. Fireplace. Available year-round.

Perfect house for a big group!

  • 5 of 5

I am writing this review as I found the reviews when researching Wellfleet options myself very helpful. Though- worth pointing out, a good friend who owns a house in Wellfleet also highly recommended this house based on the location and the beach.

And they were all spot-on regarding this place. We had three families live comfortably here for a week! Amazing yard, deck and screened in porch. The nearly private beach is beautiful and is an easy 2-3 minute walk over sand to get there. Just as described in all of the other reviews.

As for the location, it is isolated- in a good way. Town is a short and easy drive but you are really out there by yourselves. We went to town for dinner one night, took the kids to their first Drive-In movie, played mini-golf etc. but mostly we hung in the yard or house when we weren't at the beach, which is where we spent much of our time.

The house layouts well and with a little creativity and an air mattress- suited the needs of three families w/ young kids just fine. It is definitely not fancy- but extremely quaint and comfortable. It is lived-in with an eclectic array of comfy couches and antique furniture, which having several kids made it perfect. The long hallway filled with an amazing collection of books and old magazines was a treat! I for one got lost in a few National Geographics from another era!

The kitchen too served us well- which was key as we had most of our meals at the house. There were a couple of "cooks" who found everything they needed. Well-stocked for sure! There were also plenty of tables and chairs (indoor and out) to accommodate our larger group.

Bottom line- if you are a group or large family looking for a comfortable place on the beach- that is a little off the beaten path- but close enough to everything...look no more. This place is perfect and definitely worth every penny!

Truly Meant To Be

  • 5 of 5

My sister, my niece and I reluctantly returned to our respective homes after a wonderful long weekend, deep in the wooded dunes, at Meant To Be. Our high expectations paled with respect to reality. (We had visited Bound Brook Island Beach before, but never actually experienced waking up there, walking the beach at dawn, or seeing the stars at night.) It didn’t hurt that we had “Chamber-of-Commerce-Weather”, but the three of us would have loved it even if there had been pouring rain for 4 days. I could gush on about the deer, foxes, seals, seabirds, mushrooms, best beach rocks in the world, etc., but it really must be experienced to be understood.

The home is amazing, and perfect for us in every way. We plan on returning for our next annual Wellfleet trips...I think we have found our Forever Getaway Home. I can only imagine how fabulous Meant to Be is for a family during the summer – a true Cape Cod Oasis.

We really appreciate that Sandy and his wife share such an incredible place with others, even strangers. It is worth your cherishing, and we honor that. Meant To Be is the Best!

End of Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a one-of-a-kind-property located in the National Seashore, just outside of downtown Wellfleet. Our family was able to relax in this spacious, well stocked home from the moment we arrived. The location was spectacular - incredibly private, and with a short path down to what felt like your own private beach. This did not feel like a rental property - rather someone's thoughtfully decorated private beach house. The kitchen is perfect for those who love to cook, the screened in porch and outdoors patio an ideal location for long leisurely meals. Can't wait to return!

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at meant to be! The house is perfect for a family vacation. Well stocked and outfitted with comfortable furniture. The screen porch was a real treat and provided a great place for my family to dine and play games. Great location within walking to a beautiful bay beach. Lovely!

July 4th Vacation 2015

  • 5 of 5

Great family vacation!! Our family, eight adults and 3 children, ages 12,11, and 3 enjoyed together time in the house, as well as finding private areas within the house when seeking out the sometimes needed alone time. Our favorite room by far, was definitely the screen porch. Much to our delight, on July 4th, we gathered on the screen porch and were able to view the fireworks displayed by several towns across the horizon and when this was over, the fireflies and stars put on another awesome show for us!! The walk to the bay side beach from the house had a narrow path, but it was well worth the trek especially at twilight , the sunsets were breathtaking! We spent a lot of time on this beach swimming, walking, watching the seals and searching for shells and rocks!! For most of the week, we actually had the beach to ourselves!! Our family ate in for most of the week- the kitchen was great - large enough for family to prepare meals and it was fully equipped. Wellfleet Center was quaint and just about 10 minutes away. We were able to buy fresh produce, fresh fish, and at the Wellfleet Market we could buy everything else we needed and then some!! Just a short drive away, the children (and adults) also enjoyed swimming and kayaking on Long Pond, as well as frolicking in the waves of the beautiful National Seashore beaches. Sandy was very attentive and took the time to answer all our questions. Loved the privacy of "Meant to Be" and with no internet, we had lots of quality time together!! It was unanimous - our family would love to return!!

Ahhh, vacation

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location. Meant To Be is just as described. Beautiful, serene, remote. This is not a destination for those who want to be connected (though our cell service worked quite well in some parts of the house), or for those who want to walk out their front door and see things other than rabbits, turtles, butterflies, and the occasional fox. Down a sandy dirt road (note "fat tire" beach bikes are able to navigate said road easily) and nestled into the landscape you feel hidden away in the middle of the glory of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Beach was never crowded, frequented by seals, and just the most amazing place for young kids with tiny tiny waves and infinite space. Our only worries were poison ivy and mosquitoes (thank you amazing screened in porch!). Just as summer should be. We had ages 3-70 and all had plenty of space to stretch out - the home is quite large and the kitchen is very well equipped. Pay close attention to pictures and descriptions as it really is as described - a unique find and would not be fully appreciated by everyone. Of particular note: the walk to the beach involves climbing over the dunes - depending on your mobility this can be fun or a bit difficult (it was a challenge for a few in our party and limited their enjoyment somewhat). The house is beautiful, simple, and just a bit rustic - as you'd expect for a structure nestled into the dunes of the Cape. If this is your kind of place, you will dream of a vacation here for years to come.
