Art-filled One Bedroom With Garden Access And Studio.
Our beautiful, art-filled garden apartment is now available for holiday rental!
Just two blocks from the subway and several grocery stores, smack in the middle of happening Harlem, walking distance to Columbia University, nine blocks from Central Park, it occupies the garden floor of the house we live in. We are a European-American family, and well familiar with both ways of life, so you will have no surprises!
Walk through your private entrance garden into the living room. With a large screen TV and a comfortable pull out couch, it can serve as your second bedroom. A large massive oak dining table accommodates up to six people for your own Harlem dinner party! The kitchen is fully stocked, and a dishwasher takes care of the clean up. A long art-filled gallery leads to the back of the apartment, were your bedroom overlooks the quiet garden. The bathroom is modern and clean. And your huge walk-in closet will house all of your clothes along with the suitcases, skis, golfing gear, whatever!
Off the bedroom you can work in your own studio, a tiny enclave where you can write your emails, browse the web or start that novel you have been thinking of writing. Internet access is free! From the studio you can pop into the ivy-covered garden, with its hammock, large dining table and flowering vines.

About Katrin Zimmermann
World-traveler, born in Germany, multi-lingual, renowned designer with my own company- and yes, I renovated this apartment! We live right upstairs!

Why Katrin Zimmermann chose Harlem
Harlem is my love. Since I was a kid, I thought of Harlem as this great, multi-cultural place- and I was not wrong! Anyone who lives in Manhattan would love to live here, with our beautiful old townhouses and lush gardens!
What makes this Apartment unique
This house was a blank canvas when we bought it- nothing to stop my implementing my ideas of a modern, clean, high-end designed home.

Amazing Place in South Harlem
We loved staying in Katrin's place. So comfortable and clean. It was an easy walk to great restaurants and the subway. Uber cars were always close by. Katrin was always a text away and gave us our privacy otherwise. Thanks Katrin. Wish we could have this place all to ourselves.
ALSO, I have to give Katrin a big thank you because she worked with me and my chemical sensitivities. She changed out her cleaning products before we arrived (to vinegar and water) and bought new linens and towels for us (I did reimburse her for these). I was thrilled to walk into the apartment and not be affected by any smells. Yippie! Thank you so much Katrin. You made my trip enjoyable.
Wonderful apt., great bed, big bathroom , lots of room with nice touches and lovely art. The # 3 subway train will get you almost anywhere in Manhatten in 15 to 20 minutes.
Harlem Art Apartment
A lovely building on an architecturally historic street. Helpful host. Convenient access. Safe, comfortable and highly recommended for a visit to New York City.
Wonderful Apartment in a Great Location!
We loved our time in this beautiful garden apartment in Harlem. The apartment is well-designed, comfortable, and incredibly clean. It features wood floors, attractive lighting, a king-size bed, and a modern kitchen and bathroom. It also includes access to the lovely back courtyard. This is a great place to call home: the beautiful architecture of the neighborhood, just a few blocks from the subway, walking distance to Central Park, and wonderful restaurants within blocks! We cannot wait to return.
As advertised. Nice space, nice people.
We loved staying here. It was spacious, well lit, and had great amenities. Super easy access to transit and several cabs up and down the block at all hours. Highly recommend the Il Café Latte shop a block to the north, and Sexy Taco Dirty Cash for easy eats. The CVS is only a 2 minute walk for toiletries and things you couldn't pack on the plane. The owner of the property was easy to get in contact with and was quick to help us out with minor things that came up. We stayed in mid-March and found the suite a bit cold at times, but there were plenty of blankets and a space heater which helped. The shower had a strong flow, the apartment was clean and well stocked, and it was a comfortable place to relax after a long day seeing the sites. I would highly recommend this rental. Time on transit to Times Square was less than 40 minutes on the express train and Harlem was full of culture. We loved it.
Absolutely perfect location to enjoy time in NYC
I had the pleasure of staying in the Garden Apartment for an extended stay and it was a great experience. Katrin was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire stay. The apartment itself is nicely decorated, spacious, and comfortable. Everything is kept in good condition and very clean. There is privacy despite it being on the ground floor.
The location of the apartment is very convenient. The subway is a short walk away, street parking is available, and cabs can easily be hailed on the streets. There are also many good restaurants and shopping nearby. Pharmacies and grocery stores including Whole Foods are close too.
Katrin was an excellent host and I cannot emphasize her hospitality enough.
Harlem is the most happening neighborhood in New York right now! Have you eaten at Red Rooster? Have you listened to Jazz at Cecil's? Have you gone to church at St. John the Divine? Have you visited Columbia University? Have you seen the New York Marathon? Have you checked out Amateur Night at the Apollo? Have you biked around Central Park? Have you been to the Guggenheim? All these are within 15 walking minutes from our house!
