Your dream vacation awaits at CALM SEAS along the breathtaking coast of St. George Island. The beach is your backyard in this muti-level home with covered and open decks perfect for meditating on the beautiful sunrises over the Gulf of Mexico, soaking in some sun during the afternoon and stargazing at night. A screened porch is perfect for dining alfresco, enjoying a game of cards or just relaxing and catching up with family and friends.
The palm and oak lined driveway lead way to the privacy of Calm Seas. Under the house are the fish cleaning sink, an outdoor shower and a private boardwalk leads from the house to the sands of the beach.
On the first living level, a beautiful wooden library greets you with an assortment of books to meet the taste of any lover of reading. On this level is a king master bedroom and a queen master bedroom, both with private baths and views of the Gulf of Mexico and access to the beachfront deck. Also on this first level is a twin bedroom and additional full bath.
The second living level is the gathering place for family and friends. An open great room provides the perfect place to prepare today's catch in the large kitchen with gas stove top, granite counter tops and plenty of cabinet space; dine in comfort; and relax in the living area with a flat screen TV - that is IF you can take your eyes off the breathtaking views of the beach. A game table sits next to the wet bar. The second level also hosts a large deck with both covered and open areas, and the screened porch just off the dining room. A queen bedroom with deck access and stunning views as well as a full bath are on this floor as well.
The third floor is a quiet king master bedroom retreat with a private cozy deck, large flat screen TV and large bathroom with double vanity and shower. An additional sitting/reading/meditating area is also a great place for some quiet time on the third floor.
The salty air and sandy shores await you at Calm Seas!

Calm Seas and the management are delightful
We had a marvelous week at this gulf front home. When we had a water issue, we were attended to immediately. I cannot think of a better large house rental experience for a group of 12 plus dogs. Thanks so very much.
House is great
We loved it saw dolphins everyday this property is truly amazing
With but a few cosmetic fixes to the property, this house and location is ideal. My family enjoyed themselves thoroughly, as did I. The Weber grill was an added benefit which yielded a couple of superb meals. When the door knobs, nail pops and torn screen get repaired fully, this will be the perfect vacation rental. This was our second year renting Calm Seas and I can see us continuing to do so.
This was our second year at Calm Seas, and both times it proved to be an excellent place for my family. There was a problem with the elevator the first day, but that was fixed the next day. Being on the beach, having a short walk to the beach, and having the beach almost to ourselves was fantastic. The shower in the master bedroom on level 2 was enjoyed by several of us--it is almost as large as my kitchen. With the same number of people, I'd rent it again.
We had difficulty with TV reception--there was none, and the only phone service was for 911. Otherwise everything was well represented in the listing description. Calm Seas was clean and well maintained.
Our favorite restaurant is Up The Creek in Apalachicola, and my daughter and her 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed the Estuarine Center.
We spent a week at Calm Seas and had a great time. It was a great location and the beach was beautiful. We took our dogs, and the house was well set up to wash the dogs and take them directly to the upstairs deck to dry. However, the house is in need of some serious TLC. It felt like a rental and was lacking in routine maintenance and finishes. For example, the interior and exterior need painted badly, nails on all of the decking are sticking out, some blinds were missing slats or didn't work at all. With the exception of upper and lower master bathrooms (the only true masters), this house was finished with very low end or old features. For example. lower level mattresses felt like they were stuffed with straw, some pillows were so flat and hard they hurt my ear to lay on them, bedding was rough and thin, main level TV very small and mounted so high is was hard to see. There was no sound system, just a very old intercom/sound system that could not be used with phones, and the deck furniture was wood/plastic and uncomfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, but the dishwasher was terrible, built in microwave didn't heat, one toaster didn't work, the other had slats smaller than a slice of bread. You couldn't open many doors in the kitchen and laundry all of the way because of the strange layout of cabinetry (this includes the fridge door). There were not nearly enough towels...2 bath in each bedroom, which doesn't really give you enough to throw a load in while at the beach and be able to shower when you get back (although each room had two small beach towels...I'd recommend taking your own beach towels and using both sets for bathing). I didn't love having 4 levels, as things I needed always seemed to be where I wasn't, but the elevator did come in handy for loading and unloading. Finally, there was no gas grill! We have rented beach houses for many years and this is the first time I have been struck this way by a house. The rental company was helpful and easy to work with.
dolphins, bald eagles, biking, and hiking
Excellent location! From the living room we watched dolphins swimming and pelicans diving. Sometimes there was nobody in view either direction on the beach. One day a bald eagle was sitting on the beach. Walk from the house to Nick's Hole on the bay side and there are bald eagles, ibis, herons, butterflies and turtles along lovely secluded hiking trails. Bring a kayak or canoe and you can launch from Nick's Hole. We enjoyed the fun bike trails through the plantation with its beautiful vegetation. We appreciated the elevator in the house to make it more accessible for the elderly. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils for those who like to play there. The charcoal grill is in good shape too.
