Our island home is your turn key home away from home. The home offers three beautiful bedrooms (our Tempurpedic style beds are new with firm mattresses and soft cotton sheets), two newly-remodeled bathrooms (both bathrooms come with plenty of fluffy towels, botanical bath soaps and a blow dryer in the master bedroom). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed: including rice cooker, tea kettle, coffee maker, blender, microwave, and a full size refrigerator, ceramic cook top and oven.
There is a breezy screened lanai facing the backyard to sit and enjoy the fresh island air and kick back with an umbrella drink or a cup of Kona coffee in the morning.
There is a laundry room with washer and dryer within the house plus iron and ironing board for those inclined.
Watch cable TV, NetFlix or furnished DVDs on our new Samsung flat screen, listen to Hawaiian music on the stereo or play any one of the family game boards.
The property is loaded with many types of fruit trees: newly planted banana, papaya, lime, orange and grapefruit. There are mature coconut palms, lemon and avocado trees.
The home is exceptionally clean and functional and has a King bed in the master, a queen bed in bedroom #2 and a roll away double bed in bedroom #3/office. The office has a printer, built in desk, great lighting and the house is equipped with high speed wireless internet.
I moved to Kauai as a young man and always envisioned having a dream home here. I chose Princeville, simply, because there is no more beautiful island environment in the world. It offers world class surfing, Paddeling, hiking and you really feel like you are in the South Pacific...far away from home.
Phil Johnson purchased this house in 2014
The property is a stunning island style home. It couldn't be more perfectly located for enjoying all the wonders Kauai's has to offer: it's very close proximity to beaches/surfing, golf, hiking and stand up paddling. The home is open, spacious, well laid out and very comfortable and fully equipped. Everything you imagine about a dream island get a way.
Luxury accommodations in a stylish Hawaiian home. Close to shopping, beaches, golf and almost any outdoor activity you could dream of.
This was a great home with everything we needed for our stay. The location so close to the Princeville Center was very convenient. Made driving in or out of Princeville to head to the beach very easy. The home is in great shape. Lots of very cool Hanalei art work in the home. Phil (the property owner) was easy to work with and could be contacted easily. We were rarely in the home during the day while we were out exploring Kauai or just chilling at the beaches. Evenings and mornings in the home were great. The kitchen is well stocked with all the tools you need to cook just about anything. Our only complaint... we had to leave and go back to mainland with tons of snow and sub-freezing temperatures. We can recommend this home to anyone wanting a central North Shore "base camp". Thank you Phil for sharing your home.
What a gorgeous place to stay! The house had everything to make our stay relaxing and stress free! Peaceful, beautiful neighborhood. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back in the future! Mahalo, Phil, for all your help in getting us there! Aloha!
Thank you so very much for opening up your home to my family and I...
It had everything we needed and then some. We loved the floor plan, the yard, the neighborhood and all of the conveniences. What a beautiful & comfortable home!
The local market and shops including restaurants that were walking distance were perfect for us and we enjoyed going into the little towns nearby.
Favorite restaurants were Dolphin for sushi, The Tahiti Nui for a little night life and local music, and of course Bar Acuda.
We rode bikes around Princeville and enjoyed how close we were to amazing hikes and beaches. We plan on coming back again next year and will be re-booking shortly. We truly had an incredible time and hope to make this an annual tradition for our family.
Thank you again & sending much Aloha to you and your family.
If you think the photos are nice wait till you see this house in person. It's big, it looks amazing and there's everything you need (even a Jurassic Park dvd!). You have parking space, a bbq, a nice backyard and it's located in beautiful area. The beach and hike trails are close, so are the supermarkets, restaurants and cute stores. I wish I could come back every year!
We enjoyed ourselves so much in 2014, that we rebooked for 2015. The weather was fantastic, which "almost" made us feel guilty since our family and friends were home in the freezing cold & knee deep snow. We had plenty of hot water this trip; the only reason for the problem mentioned in our 2014 review was the unusual number of days of rain in a row (11 if I remember correctly). We ate mostly at the house - stocked up at Costco in Lihue (same prices as continental US) & the fantastic farmers market in Hanalei on Saturdays, which is so much fun - fresh fruits & vegetables, prepared foods, arts & crafts. We traveled all over the island; there are so many things to do and see! Nearly every evening we took a romantic walk on the beach by Hanalei Pier. Phil, the home owner, is so friendly & helpful. We enjoyed riding the bikes he left out for us. We are excitedly looking forward to another trip to Kauai & stay at Hale Aukai in Princeville in 2016!
Our first visit to Kauai after many years of summer stays in Maui. Our family holiday for 13 days was too short, better than we expected. This property is a nice cozy home away from home. Sunny, quiet, convenient, bike to the beach from the house. Super close to grocery stores, shops, gear rental, etc... We hiked, stand up paddle board, snorkel, scuba, more hiking to the falls, went to a different point each day for sunset, and bought a ukelele. Everything worked well, no problems with hot water (we read the careful instructions on use). Kitchen is well set up and we cooked nearly all our meals, relishing in the produce and food bought at the farmers market. Only thing I would do differently next time is to plan the bedding arrangement better. We usually had full day excursions and were exhausted by 8 pm after dinner. We have 3 full sized young adults of 2 boys and 1 girl, plus parents makes 5. There are 2 bedrooms with 1 bed in each room and a study with sofa sleeper which has seen better days and pad in the closet. Study has a door for privacy so that is good. If the kids are small, no worries to spread out and sleep on the floor. Our big kids are ages 17 through 21. So the sleeping situation had to be shared and negotiated. We still had a great time and created many memories. Just next time I would try to get a bed for each of our big kids. Phil, the Owner is very responsive and good with tips/insight about the island. I called a few property managers before booking and did not get good responses or feedback.
Hale Aukai (home of the seafarer) is located within the Princeville Resort area on the north shore of the beautiful Garden Island of Kauai. Princeville sits directly above Hanalei Bay and is about a 45 minute drive from Lihue, Airport. It has a very nice Country Club feeling about it as it is surrounded by two great championship golf courses (Prince & Makai).
Princeville is situated on a 200 ft. marine terrace, above the world famous Hanalei Bay. Hanalei Bay became famous after the movie South Pacific was filmed on location. Some say it's the most beautiful island setting in the world.
The Anini beach walking trail is only a five minute walk from our property and is known for its exceptionally calm shoreline and crystal clear waters. The St. Regis's public beach access is within a short 5-10 minute walk where you can enjoy a spectacular sandy beach for swimming and snorkeling. There are many other beach trails within a short distance. Hanalei Bay and beach are 3.5 miles from the home.
The Princeville Shopping Center is a quick 5 minute walk from the house and it has a great Foodland grocery store, restaurants, bars, banks, Ace hardware, Chevron Station and much more for your convenience. World famous Tunnels Beach and the famous 'end of the road' and Napali Coast is only a 15 minute drive from the house. The napali is some of the most beautiful coastline and scenery in all of Hawaii and has been depicted in many movies and television shows. It provides tremendous hiling opportunities for all levels, depending on how far you want to go into the Kalalau Valley. Some fantastic restaurants in Hanalei town which is a 5 minute drive including my two favorites, BaraCuda (SFO style tapas) and The Dolphin (sushi). Get reservation's as both are very popular. Great surfing for all levels on the Northshore including hanalei Bay, Pine Trees, Tunnels and Cannons. Stand Up Paddeling/Surfing is very popular and awesome on Kauai including paddeling the beautiful Hanalei river (flat water) all the way into Hanalei Bay both flat and surfing depending on your desire. Many Yoga studios within Hanalei for those seeking a more mellow vibe.
