The Studio is the bottom level of the home of a local photographer/artist. It is located 2 blocks (easy walking distance) to the beach. Close driving distance to North Shore beaches, Polynesian Culture Center, and BYUH. Comfortably fits 2-4 guests with King bed, couch, and queen blow-up mattress.
The kitchen has everything a full kitchen offers except for a full size oven. We do have a hot plate and a large toaster oven to accommodate our guests. There is a full size refrigerator, microwave, blender, and coffee maker.
The walls in the studio are covered with photographs and paintings of the owner of the house and other local artist.
We have beach towels, body boards, soft top surf boards, and snorkel gear. We have one stand-up paddle board for a daily rental fee.
We will interact with the guest as much as they would like. If they want to be left alone, we will give them privacy. If they would like a tour guide to take them around, Carlos would be more than happy to show guest around the North Shore.
Bus stop 2 blocks away on Kamehmeha Hwy.

The best place ever!!
We loved this place!! So clean, quiet and quaint and the location was perfect for all the Oahu sites!! It was very close to the LDS temple, Polynesian Culture Center, and plenty of beaches! It's not very far from Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head and the drive to those places is spectacular!! (We recommend a convertible) You will be very pleased with this setup as it has a kitchen so you can cook there and save money!! We can't say enough great things about this place!! Thank you Hailey and Carlos!
Hailey is a very nice lady and answers questions very quickly. She was very accommodating in allowing a 12:00 p.m. check in time. As it turned out our schedule changed. We arrived in Hauula at 11:45 a.m. Since we would not be at the property until after dark, we decided to drive by so we knew the location (it was not well marked) and let Hailey know that the early check in was not needed. She said she had just finished "sweeping up" and we could check in then. We were hesitant to do so saying we didn't want to rush her and would just keep our luggage with us so she could finish her cleaning. At her insistance we left our luggage and immediately left for our appointment. We returned at 8:00 p.m. and were totally grossed out by what we found. The bathroom sink was full of whiskers as was the bathroom garbage can. The floor was so sticky your feet stuck to it and the option of stepping on the rugs that looked like they hadn't been washed forever was not an acceptable solution. The towels left in the bathroom for our use were stained and one was torn almost in half. The refrigerator contained 2 jars of peanut butter and various items from previous tenants. The listing said no air conditioning and we thought we would be ok since it was mid April. Not. The fans provided were totally inadequate. I can only image what it would be like in the hot humid summer. While the pictures make it look light and bright, it is really dark and in need of an overhaul and deep cleaning. Needless to say, one night of the three was all we could tolerate staying and checked out the next morning. When we contacted Hailey that morning, we told her why we were checking out and asked for a refund for the unused two nights. She stated that "it was not possible." She also told us that it was booked thru August. If you are one of those people, I would strongly suggest you get your deposit refund while you can. Our experience here was the only sour note on a wonderful trip to HI. I have pictures of what I have described if you are interested in seeing them. I DID NOT CLICK the above I loved it! I clicked Not Really and it jumped over to I loved it! Home Away needs to have some way of inspecting the properties it allows to be offered.
When Kathleen's husband (the person who wrote this review) asked me for a refund he started it out as "if you don't give me my money back, I'm going to give you a very bad review and no one is going to stay here ever again" . To me, that is called blackmail, so the validity and exaggerating white lies of this review are in question.
I go out of my way to make sure my guests are happy. (I let these guys check in 3 hours early and when they arrived earlier than that ,they never mentioned to me it wasn't necessary like the review says.) The place is thoroughly cleaned after each check out. The rugs are brand new. I buy new towels every 6 months. The picture he is trying to paint for other guests is really stretching the truth. The pictures on the page are exactly what the place looks like. Many people don't leave reviews but tell me how much they love it. I've have multiple people come back and stay again and again. Please don't pay attention to this and read the other great reviews that I have. I'm really sorry these people had such a bad experience.
Spacious and fit our needs
We loved staying in the art studio and felt it suited our needs very well. We love the north east side of Oahu. We felt like we had privacy and comfort. The only reason I didn't give it a five is because of the no AC. We were really hot, but still loved our stay here.
The studio was exactly what I needed for the weekend
I rented the art studio for the weekend I was participating in the Spartan Races. It worked out well for me as I was only 10 min away from Kuaola Ranch. Unlike Waikiki/Honolulu which is urban, the area is secluded and quiet. All of your basic amenities are available. I met one of the owners my first day and he was friendly. And the ocean is one block away.
I didn't get to spend too much time inside due to the races and being out and about. I definitely would rent again on my next trip to Oahu.
Lots of space and a convenient location
This apartment was a great choice for our vacation plans. We loved being just minutes to the Laie LDS temple, BYU Hawaii campus, and Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). We loved that there was a sitting area with couch and entertainment center for relaxing after a long day. The kitchenette had an electric skillet that we used to prepare meals while we were there. It was a great place to stay!
We had a pleasant stay at the studio. Great location convenient for going to the beach and North Shore activities.
