About the property

Enjoy a relaxing week at this lovely cabin in the Adirondack Mountains.

Three miles from the Whiteface Mountain ski center, perched on an 18 acre wooded slope divided by a year-round peaceful mountain stream, Pine Hill Cabin is a beautifully rebuilt Adirondack cabin, with pine floors, and an old stone fireplace. Pine Hill Cabin has three bedrooms, 2 baths, a balcony with mountain views, a kitchen, washer-dryer and a 2-bay drive-in car port. There is a 4 person hot tub to enjoy. Linens, cooking and eating utensils, Cable TV, cable modem for high speed internet access, and DVD, make Pine Hill Cabin a rustic and relaxing home away from home. Seasonal chills are kept out with a hot air furnace. All you need to bring with you are clothes, food, ski gear, hiking gear or fishing poles. Campfire near the barbecue in the back yard provides a great place for the family to gather in the evening, to review the days activities, have a family sing-along, or just to listen to the waters of the stream, while counting the stars in the clear Adirondack skies, and inhaling the fragrance of the pines which enclose the yard. Serious hikers are within easy range of High Peaks Trails. The trail up Whiteface Mountain and Esther begins a 1/4 mile from the driveway. The Veterans Memorial 'Highway', the beautiful 2-lane country road up the back of Whiteface Mountain, which Pine Hill cabin sits off of, features great views, a specially stocked trout pond for young kids, as well as America's veryfirst theme park, 'Santa's Workshop at the North Pole', a great place for kids to pet reindeer, enjoy kiddie rides, and meet Santa's elves. Restaurants, stores and a sandy beach are all within walking distance of the cabin. The High Peaks towns of Wilmington, Jay and Lake Placid offer nightly summer activities for young and old alike, everything from plays, concerts and art exhibits to fireworks and blue-grass/ rock and country bands under the stars. Pine Hill Cabin has a three night minimum stay. Formed by the damming of the West Branch of the Ausable River, at the bridge in Wilmington, Lake Everest has a public beach in Wilmington, within walking distance of Pine Hill Cabin. The Adirondack Wildlife Refuge is about a mile away, and has canoes and kayaks, as well as public fishing access on Lake Everest, The Park at Lake Everest provides a great place for younger kids who want to play in and around the sandy bottom lake. At Lake Everest you can launch canoes and kayaks, fish for the famous Ausable River brown and rainbow trout, play volleyball, or just picnic under the lovely cedars that cluster around the shore. Lake Everest has rest rooms, barbecue pits, and country/ rock/ folk concerts every Thursday Evening in July and August. House-trained, socialized dogs are welcome at Pine Hill Cabin. The Olympic attractions of lake Placid are 12 miles away through the Wilmington notch, one of America's most beautiful country roads.

Why Samantha Griggs chose Whiteface Mountain

We purchased this cabin in 2004 as a relaxing getaway from our life in the city. We love the property with it's breathtaking views of Whiteface Mountain and the sound of the babbling brook in the private wooded backyard. It's the perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had an excellent stay at the cabin. It was the perfect size for our group and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The cabin was very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and it was nice that it had 2 bathrooms. It is very close to Whiteface and a short drive to the sights and entertainment of Lake Placid. I would recommend the cabin to anyone that is looking for a cabin somewhat secluded, but also close to Whiteface and Lake Placid.

Private Cabin

  • 3 of 5

Nice Cabin, private, quiet. No great views. If you want a home base to explore this spectacular area of the Adirondacks then this cabin should fit your needs. Owner response was prompt although management assistance to refill propane tank was poor.

Perfect spot to use as homebase for Adirondack stay.

  • 4 of 5

Stayed 5 nights at the Pine Hill Cabin. Very clean and comfortable. It was an ideal spot to explore the High Peaks area. as well as Lake Placid and Burlington, Vermont. The ferry from Essex, NY to Charlotte, Vermont has great views of both the ADKs and Green Mts. It is well worth the trip if you have time. The only problem we had was the cabin was double booked for 3 of the 5 nights we were there. We did stay the full time we were booked for, but 2 other couples showed up at 10:00 pm on our first night and had to be relocated by the booking agent. We ran into them 2 days later and they said everything had worked out OK. Just be sure to check the day before you go to make sure there is no problem.

Sweet Little Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This cabin in Wilmington was perfect for our stay. My husband and I and our three twenty-something daughters were very comfortable here; 2 bathrooms was so helpful! The kitchen had just about everything we needed. (Never found a can opener.) We had a nice outdoor fire. Would have liked an outdoor table but all the Adirondack chairs were a plus! AC and fans were appreciated!

We hiked Whiteface Mountain so the location could not have been any better for that yet we could walk into town for anything we needed or wanted to do. We went for a great 9-mile bike ride leaving right from the driveway!

We would definitely come back for another stay.

A week in the Adirondacks

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our needs. Stayed for 1 week. Access to Lake Placid and activities to the north as well were all easily accessible from this location. BBQ for use and back porch to sit and enjoy your morning coffee. Several floor fans for any warmer days or nights. Walkable local Wilmington restaurants, etc. Great location to access various trails and Whiteface summit.

We got double booked...

  • 1 of 5

I can't say anything about the quality of the cabin, and it does sound nice. But my group got double booked for this cabin on July 4th weekend. Arrived at the cabin to find another group already there. Had to scramble to find somewhere else to say. The owner did end up finding us another place to stay, but by then we had already checked in to a motel (which we were relieved to find on a holiday weekend!). Be VERY careful booking this place, there seems to be poor communication between the owner and a rental manager. Turned out the rental manager booked the place through another site, while we booked with the owner through VRBO. Still can't believe we got confirmation from the owner just days before our trip, only to end up in this mess. Double and triple check that your reservation is actually secured.
