This an extraordinary house surrounded by trees and natural beauty. The house is situated in a quiet neighborhood 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, and when you pass through the front door you enter a very private, serene space.
The two-story family room is spacious and comfortable. A 60-foot long deck runs along the entire back of the house, overlooking acres of woods. The deck features a covered gazebo, comfortable outdoor furniture, a wood-burning fireplace, tiki torches, and a combination gas/charcoal grill. There are doors leading out to the deck from the master bedroom, living room, and dining room.
The back yard is very unique and beautifully maintained, with a large koi pond, two waterfalls, and an artificial stream.
There is a large, modern kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and 2.5 bathrooms.
The property is best suited for a couple or a small family. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, and the second bedroom features one king-size bed and one double bed. The bedrooms are separated by a hallway with closets and two bathrooms, but you have to go through the master bedroom in order to get to the second bedroom.
The owner of this property is a licensed attorney and real estate agent. She has five children, and has lived in the area since 1989.
Janice Russell purchased this house in 2009
Enjoyed being here very, very much. Can't think of anything else I could ask for. It was a very spacious living room and kitchen, with two large bedrooms, which meant that the five of us were not cramped in any way. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, with every possible need foreseen. Enormous back deck, up high and overlooking deep woods. Fully stocked kitchen, and with stores like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods nearby, we were quite happy to eat in. I would (and will) be very happy to make this my base when visiting Pittsburgh. Why stay in a hotel when you can be completely at home in a place like this for the same price? The owner has the whole operation extremely well organized, and I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone visiting the Pittsburgh area.
House was well equipped and very clean. Tucked away in the neighborhood the house has an amazing deck and beautiful view. We used the house for our wedding weekend and it worked perfectly. The kitchen was fully stocked and satisfied all our needs. The host, Janice, was overwhelmingly accommodating and very pleasant to work with. A few things to note for preferences:
1. The coffee option is a k-cup machine. Just a heads up if in case you don't read close enough and bring coffee like we did.
2. If privacy is a huge concern between bedrooms, just know that you must walk through one room to get to the other. They're separated by a curtain in the hallway between. This was fine for our needs, but maybe not everyone.
I would highly recommend this house!
This is truly a beautiful home with an amazing deck and grounds. Spending the evenings on the private deck with tiki lights and a fire burning was nothing short of magical. Janice provided every possible amenity and was very welcoming from the start. It was an incredible weekend!
What a wonderful experience this was! The house was absolutely beautiful and very spacious. It was perfect for what we needed. Our reunion was at North Park, which was literally right down the road! Took about 5 minutes to get there. The house was so big that we were able to invite family back to visit and we had more than enough room and 3 bathrooms, which was nice also! I would definitely recommend this to anyone and would stay there again if the opportunity arose. Janice was very pleasant and easy to work with. If I had any questions before or during my stay, I would text her and she would get back to me in a reasonable time frame. She was also very accommodating to my requests!! This whole experience made our stay so much more enjoyable!! Wish we would have had more time as we tried to fit so many things into one weekend. North Park, Mt Washington and the Strip District!! So much fun!!
While the property was spectacular, we were surprised when we received an extra charge for our two grandchildren. This was not on the web page. We had a total of 6 people and when the charge was questioned we were told the advertised price was for four guest and an additional $25 per guest per night was charged. In addition, it took 4 weeks and a letter from our attorney to be credited the $100 security deposit.
Beautiful, comfortable home. The only thing I was surprised by was the neighborhood it was in. I expected the home to be surrounded by woods, as it looks on the photo. It has a beautiful backyard, but you must leave the neighborhood to find things to do such as walking trails, etc.
This property sits at the edge of North Park. The back yard looks onto 3075 acres of hiking trails, playgrounds, a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, nature center, zip line park, and much more. The hiking trails are accessible directly from the back of the property. There is a beautiful lake there also, suitable for fishing and kayaking.
