About the property

This wonderful, summer cottage will appeal to those in need of a retreat, golf or kayak outing, or small, quiet, family gathering. Bring your kayaks, canoes or small boat to access the "Hungry Point Bar & Grill", found directly across the river from the cottage.

If you prefer to eat in, bring your own food and we will supply you with a full kitchen of basic needs.

The cottage consists of 3 bedrooms (1 on the main floor and 2 on the second floor), 1.5 baths, large living room, sun porch and a dining area with seating for 6. Bed sheets and bathroom towels are supplied.

**Please be mindful that this cottage is not intended for parties or dock access for boats larger than 16 feet.

The outside consists of a large yard for gaming activities, a carport, and a patio near the river with a metal stairway leading to the dock below.

We are located directly across from County Road 3, just 11 miles south of Winona, Minnesota and 15 miles north of La Crosse, Wisconsin and between mile markers 14 and 15 off highway 61.

Please take note of the following...

-This is a summer cottage, available June 1st through Labor Day only.

-No pets are allowed on the property.

-Light sleepers may not appreciate the train tracks being near the property. The year of 2015 saw a great deal of train action due to the high demand of oil and frac sand and then with the lower demand in 2016, the train action was almost cut in half (maybe 4 or 5 trains a day).

Great place to stay,

  • 5 of 5

View of Mississippi is great, sitting on patio table with Adult beverages in evening and watching river traffic. Home is comfortable and all appliances are new. You are in the country but not far from Winona and LaCrosse.

Very nice rental right on the Mississippi

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our weekend stay. Lots of room for lawn games and beautiful view of river. Noise from trains wasn't too bad - with the window air conditioners running, we all slept fine. Would definitely stay here again.

Summer Cottage on the River

  • 5 of 5

I brought my mother to Winona to visit our relatives. The cottage was a nice alternative to hotels in town. The short drive back to Winona was one of the many pleasures of the trip. The scenery is gorgeous. The cottage itself was well-furnished. We were able to fix our own meals and relax during the downtime when not visiting relatives. The beds were comfortable and each room had air conditioning, so the heat was not an issue. Upstairs could get hot during the day, but the a/c took care of that for sleeping.

I caught many fish from the dock using a fly rod and a small jig. We enjoyed watching the river roll by and the barges chugging past. The trains did not bother us, although some seemed louder than others. Mom really enjoyed the fireflies and bunnies that would visit each day. Plenty of great birds too. We saw the Bald Eagles that live on the island in the river. The hummingbirds were cute too. All in all, it was a great stay. We would definitely stay here again. There is no Wi-Fi or TV, but that is part of how it should be in a setting such as this. Your stress and blood-pressure levels will go down when staying at the cottage.

The town of LaCrosse, Wisconsin is just 20 miles south of our cottage...great shopping and wonderful restaurants. The Valley View Mall in LaCrosse is one of our favorite locations for rainy day shopping, along with numerous theaters and a number of restaurants (Applebee's, Red Lobster, TGI Friday's, etc.). Within 5 miles is Cedar Valley Golf Course (18 holes) and its restaurant and beautiful scenery. We can be easily found on Hwy 61 between mile markers 14 and 15 and directly across from County Road 3.
