Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 4

This creekside charmer nestled in the woods of quiet Rhododendron will leave your group of four fully rejuvenated after a peaceful respite in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Set alongside Hackett Creek, just off the Sandy River, this two bedroom with loft Mt. Hood vacation rental offers beautiful forest and creek views, modern amenities, a private outdoor hot tub, and an excellent location with easy access to the bounty Mt. Hood has to offer.

Though deceiving with its modest exterior, Hackett Hideaway will enchant you with rustic charm once you step inside. With 20-foot high ceilings, skylights, and a multitude of windows throughout, the home's compact quarters feel equally open and airy, and warm and inviting. Exposed timber beams, homespun decor, and wood paneled walls and cabinetry enhance the authentic cabin feel and mountain theme. Settle into the comfy couch with cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine, get the gas fireplace going, and instantly feel at home in this cozy cabin.

Cooking can be a collaborative experience in this open kitchen overlooking the living room. You'll find all you need to make a complete meal, along with a dishwasher for quick clean-up. A window-side table for four will host your finalized feast, or head out back and dine with the trees on the large wrap-around deck with plenty of sitting room and table for eating. Craving BBQ? There's a gas grill out here too!

Two bedrooms and a loft sleep up to four guests quite comfortably. On the main level you'll find a tranquil, light-filled queen bedroom with an old-fashioned wrought iron frame and a reading chair when you need some extra quiet time. Across the hall, you'll find the full bathroom with a tub/shower combination, as well as a mud room with a stackable washer and dryer ñ much needed for keeping up with Mt. Hood adventure-soaked clothes.

Head upstairs where you'll find the second bedroom tucked up in the loft. This cozy space comes with an extra perk of private balcony access with patio furniture overlooking the forested front yard - a perfect place to wake up and have your morning coffee as you ponder the impending adventures of the day. Up here you;ll also find a hidden crawlspace with an additional futon that's perfect for a small child.

Even though you're nestled in the woods, you'll still have access to those desirable vacation house amenities. Along with a flat screen TV with a DVD player and DVD library, the home offers wireless Internet, board games, an iPod dock and CD player to set your vacation soundtrack. For some outdoor, at-home entertainment, head out back, take a stroll down the stone path and experience complete relaxation in the hot tub overlooking Hackett Creek as you stargaze.

When you're ready to go explore, skiers and boarder will find themselves within 20-40 minutes of epic power at Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows, Mt. Hood SkiBowl, and Summit Ski Area. Fisherman will find a plethora of steelhead in the Sandy River, and in the summer you'll find a multitude of hiking and biking trails nearby, which transform into cross-country ski and snowshoe trails when the snow falls. For those who desire a little culture, you'll find a handful of great restaurants along Highway 26, as well as a live music down the road at Skyway Bar and Grill for a fun night out.

Quaint and comfortable, warm and inviting, Hackett Hideaway is a true diamond in the rough. For a deeply relaxing cabin-in-the-woods style vacation, choose this charming creekside Rhododendron vacation rental as your foundation for your next explorative venture into the Mt. Hood National Forest.

About Vacasa, OR - Mt Hood / Hood River Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Creekside Relaxation

 • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our family of 4. I've determined running streams are most relaxing sound!

Eclectic and unique property with secluded wooded views. This is not without neighbors, many of which appear to love to collect cars and campers but once you're in, you'll forget about that.

Well labeled switches. Nice lanai/deck. Missing window screens were problem only because valley was experiencing record heat and we needed to open windows at night. Thanks to Vacasa for bringing in another room fan.

Decent amenities like games, puzzles, music and movies. Upper bedroom is loft style with adjoining roof deck. Pool access but we didn't utilize it or the hot tub.

Very relaxing place to stay!

Great House, Awesome scenery and hot tub.

 • 5 of 5

It is close to other houses, but it's very true that you don't see or hear them. Hot Tub was great. We loved it. If you have a chance to go in the summer, Mt Hood ski bowl was amazing.

Great cabin.

 • 5 of 5

The cabin was nice and clean. Very cozy inside and out. Wish the couch was facing the beautiful wall of windows. We did not turn on the t.v. the entire time!

Hikers Vacation

 • 5 of 5

We were very happy with this vacation rental. When we first arrived we were shocked that it was located with houses so close together, but once in the residence and even out back we felt like we were secluded. I hope you are not freaked out with dear and bear heads on the walls. It was different, more of a hunters lodge. Only one bathroom, so be aware if you have a group staying here. Lots of room to spread out and full kitchen (oven) was nice. Convenient to trails and not too far a drive to the Columbia Gorge area.

Weekend getaway

 • 4 of 5

Nice cabin for a quick getaway, but not very private at all. There are several homes nearby and traffic noise. As others have said, getting in to the driveway can be challenging since other neighbors tend to park in the way.

The photos of the loft are a little deceiving. There is only one room up there, with an extra mattress on the floor. Kids appreciated this space, but an adult might not be so pleased.

The hot tub on the property is great and there is a community pool within walking distance that was a nice surprise.

Cozy getaway

 • 4 of 5

My wife and I rented this property as a last minute birthday get away and had a fantastic time ! The house is comfortable, well furnished and in a great forest setting. The sound of the stream next to the house is very soothing especially while in the hot tub. We'll definitely be returning to this spot !
