About John Ryan

I live in New Orleans and have vacation properties in Pass Christian, MS, Dauphin Island, AL and Sapphire, NC. We strive to provide high-end amenities and comforts in settings close to Nature.

John Ryan purchased this condo in 2013

Why John Ryan chose Smoky Mountains

I love the mountains. The view is great. The weather is cool in summer. There are lots of nearby amenities and restaurants. This area is the most biologically significant part of the Appalachian Mountains and is known for the diversity of its plant and animal life, including more than 160 species of birds. Few regions outside the tropics offer such opportunities for observing and enjoying the benefits of such a unique ecosystem. These Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, some of the oldest mountains in the world, are home to an incredible wealth of species. They contain the world's greatest number of endemic plants and animals, meaning these species occur nowhere else in the world. They are home to 400 rare plants and more than 250 endemic plants. The streams are home to crayfish found nowhere else in the world. More than 230 fish species have been documented, and new species continue to b e discovered. These mountains are also critical habitat for populations of globally declining neotropical migrant songbirds, such as the whip-poor-will and Canada warbler. Five watersheds originate here in the mountains of Macon and Jackson Counties. This area of the Blue Ridge Mountains is (no kidding!) the Salamander Capital of the World (note upper case). Salamanders are most abundant in old growth forests, where large amounts of rotting logs and moisture-conserving leaf litter provide optimal microinhabitants for terrestrial species. These mountains are very old, giving plenty of time for a variety of salamanders to emerge. During the Pleistocene era (about 10,000 years ago) , glaciers covered much of North America but did not reach these mountains. Consequently, these mountains became a refuge for many species of plants and animals. Many species remained within habitat earth islands on isolated mountain peaks. New salamanders continue to be discovered. DNA techniques have determined that identical looking salamanders are in fact genetically distinct species.

What makes this condo unique

Optional access to two outdoor pools, tennis courts and one heated indoor pool and health club. Great birding. Powerful optics provided. Great walking areas. Extensive nature library highlighting local plants, history, geography and wildlife. This condo is a stone's throw from Fairfield Lake and from two of the three balconies you have views of the following mountains: Little Bald Rock Mountain and Little Hogback Mountain.

Very comfortable condo!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend in Cashiers at this well appointed condo. Everything we needed was furnished. Beds were firm and comfy, kitchen was well stocked and sectional sofa had plenty of room for all. Colors were pretty, not quite peak and temps were perfect! Will stay here again if the need arises.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great condo/townhouse. The whole place has been updated and remodeled. Great views with a handful of hiking trails in walking distance and about a block from the lake. Only a few miles from stores and restaurants, pretty much in the middle of town.

Emerald Cove Townhouse

  • 5 of 5

View of mountains from townhouse windows and balconies gives feeling of seclusion, yet very close -within 10 minute or less drive - to several restaurants, large grocery store and charming town of Cashiers. Cashiers includes a village green with many scheduled events as well as shops and historic sites to explore. Lots to do for outdoor adventures in nearby vicinity - hiking, horseback riding, rafting, etc. Townhouse contains all new appliances with every convenience for kitchen and latest electronics. Several books in the townhouse on local history, maps and things to do are very interesting and helpful. Two spacious bedrooms on separate levels, each with its own bathroom and soothing decor, makes for a relaxing stay in the North Carolina mountains. We would recommend staying at this property.

Great, Comfortable Condo

  • 5 of 5

Spent 5 super days at this condo. Loved the views. Listening to the birds, looking through the binoculars and the spy scope. Three nice TV's, super high-tech appliances. Even had two great Tivoli radios to connect to my Iphone.

Spectacular Mountain Getaway!

I love this place. It is not rustic. It is very modern and clean with quality appliances and bedding. It was also well-stocked. I also enjoyed the books, the binoculars and the scope with tripod. I will be back.
