If you want to be in the middle of the action but away from it all, this modern retreat in the heart of Berkeley is for you!
The open, light-filled 2-story apartment features a fully-equipped, updated kitchen with new appliances. The dining and living areas open up onto a large, private back yard with fruit trees offers many places to relax, and features a large deck and gas BBQ for a Cal Football tailgate party or an intimate dinner.
Upstairs, the sky-lit master suite includes a queen bed and walk-in closet. If you are traveling as a family, the adjacent sun room has twin bunk beds.
For exploring Berkeley and the greater Bay Area, the location can't be beat. Walk to UC campus (including Greek Theater, Zellerbach Hall, Memorial Stadium and Haas Pavilion) and Elmwood shops and restaurants. Across the street is Willard Park, which features a playground, tennis courts (we provide racquets and balls) and lots of grass.
The Rockridge BART station is a 10 block walk, and with convenient freeway access, you're 20 minutes from San Francisco, and an hour from the Wine Country and the Marin Coast.
Recommended for a couple or family (max 4).
We look forward to welcoming you to Berkeley. You're going to love it here!
I have always wanted to run an inn or a bed and breakfast, but my careers in architectural lighting design and metalsmithing have led me in a different direction. When we found this quaint duplex in our neighborhood, we bought it with friends and jumped on the opportunity to provide Berkeley visitors with a very special experience.
Christina Campobasso purchased this apartment in 2014
We love the Elmwood neighborhood of Berkeley, CA and have called it home for over 10 years. This Elmwood house is in the center of so much - close to UC Berkeley, the Elmwood strip of College Ave. and Willard Park. Architecturally, it is filled with natural light, it is spacious and has a very peaceful backyard. We thought this would provide the perfect landing spot for someone visiting Berkeley and one you will hopefully consider your home away from home!
Cool bungalow in a cool neighborhood!
We put on more than 20 miles walking the Cal campus, the local flavor on the streets, finding fun food, hiking Strawberry Canyon, Tilden Regional Park and setting ourselves up for a great show at The Greek!
Thanks so much for a delightful stay!
The house is amazing with a great backyard that allowed us the kick up our sore heels every afternoon.
We stayed at Christina's home with our college age children while on a family vacation to San Francisco. We had a great time during our stay and were very pleased with our accommodations.
The home is well-kept and tastefully decorated. The kitchen and patio/back yard are very nice and a great place to relax after a long day! The tall privacy fence helps to make it feel more secluded. Both bedrooms are upstairs. Those staying in the smaller bedroom have to walk through the larger bedroom to reach the bathroom, but that wasn't a problem for us.
The location of the house was a good for driving to San Francisco and Napa Valley. It is also an easy walk to the Berkeley campus and to downtown Berkeley with its' many shops and restaurants. The kitchen and laundry were updated and in good working order. Parking is on street in front and we never had a problem finding a parking space. Overall, the neighborhood seemed to be very safe to walk in.
We had a wonderful time and would stay there again!
This house worked perfect for us (couple, and our adult daughter). The house was impeccable... super clean and outfitted with everything we needed. The backyard was a nice space that I wish we had more time to enjoy. The location was walking distance to Cal and all the restaurants and shopping. The street was quiet and we found unrestricted parking everyday in front of the house. We would stay here again without hesitation.
The house was beautiful, just like the photos and had everything we needed. Christina was responsive to emails and pleasant to communicate with. The location was prime for exploring Berkeley. We had a lovely weekend stay with our family of four.
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Christina's house. The house is clean, freshly decorated and painted, and has great charm. We took advantage of the modern laundry appliances, and the well equipped kitchen allowed us to stock up on basic necessities (milk, cereal, snacks, wine) that helped us to feel at home. The master bedroom is large, has a vaulted ceiling, and perhaps the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. My daughters enjoyed their bunk beds in the adjoining small second bedroom. The cheery bathroom offered a great shower.
Our absolute favorite feature of the house was the back yard. We ate breakfast at the cafe table on the deck each morning, and enjoyed a drink in the comfortable patio chairs in the evenings. Surrounded by fruit trees and ivy, it is a quiet oasis.
The house is located an easy 15-20 minute walk from your choice of two BART stations making it easy to get into SF, but also easy to get to points north, south and west by car. Downtown Berkeley is about a one mile walk and has some incredibly diverse restaurants.
Keep in mind that Berkeley is an urban area with eccentricities and a certain grit that make it unique. If you appreciate and can deal with this, then choose Berkeley, and if you choose Berkeley, definitely stay at Christina's vacation home.
The Elmwood neighborhood is a great location for your stay in Berkeley. 1/2 mile to UC campus, 1 mile to BART. Willard Park across the street includes tons of grass, playground and (newly refinished) tennis courts.
Walk to College Avenue for great restaurants and shops.
