About Amanda McCauley
My husband Rick and I have 2 kids, Mattox and Sophie. Originally from Chicago, and after living in Los Angeles for a while, we now live in Las Vegas which gives us a lot of opportunities to enjoy this place. We hope that we can offer the same relaxing and enjoyable times to our guests that it offers to us. We wanted to create a place that our guests could enjoy and feel at home.
Amanda McCauley purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Amanda McCauley chose Alton
My husband and I ended up here during a forth of July trip in 2007, we instantly fell in love with the area. We ended up looking at homes for fun and when we saw this one is was like it was meant for us. It had what both of us wanted in a mountain home, year round accessibility, paved streets, fantastic views of the pink cliffs, trees and the neighborhood was conveniently located by the 14 and 89, which gave us great access to many scenic drives. Over the years we have loved and enjoyed this place and even called it home for a few months when we relocated from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 2013.
What makes this Cabin unique
Being close to both the 14 and 89 offers an easy drive to many scenic locations. Both Zion and Bryce are approx 1/2 hour drive away. Lots of wildlife to see and wonderful towns to visit.

Beautiful property in a gorgeous location.
We loved this cabin and the owners are wonderful. We couldn’t have found a better place to enjoy visiting Bryce Canyon. Wish we could have stayed a month!
Great location and comfortable
The house was perfect for our family of 5. It was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Star gazing was fantastic. The location made it easy to visit Zion and Bryce Canyon. The owner communicated quickly when we had a question. As the owner recommends, take groceries and arrive in the daylight. We hope to return someday since there are so many things to do in the area.
Perfect house for our family vacation!
My family had a wonderful time during our Utah/Arizona trip and this house was the perfect home base. My family (me, my husband, 3 adult children + one spouse) fit very comfortably. The house itself is gorgeous and the location is perfect, especially if you plan on visiting Bryce and Zion, which we did multiple times. The surrounding area of Duck Creek has a lot to offer as well - lots of unexpected canyon views!
The house is well stocked with everything you'll need for cooking, besides the food :) (definitely do your grocery shopping in Cedar City or Kanab - not a lot of grocery stores nearby) though condiments, olive oil, etc. are abundant. The laundry area is great and the beds are very comfortable. On hiking recovery days, we spent a lot of time on the beautiful wrap around porch which has great sunrise/sunset views, a grill, and lots of seating for stargazing or watching the families of deer stroll through the yard.
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Utah! Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous home!
Great family stay
Had a great time at this location halfway between Zion and Bryce. Also ventured off to Cedar Breaks and Brianhead. Six of us fit in the house, though one ended up sleeping on the pull-out sofa in the main room. There were lots of kitchen supplies available which made shopping easy - didn’t need to get condiments, etc. Communications from Amanda were clear. She warned us there were no supermarkets nearby - the closest one we found was about 30 minutes away in Pawguitch (I think that was what it was called). Overall would recommend for a visit between the two parks.
family christmas vacation!
The house was awesome and beautiful! The living room feels much bigger in person than in the picture and so was the kitchen. Plenty of space for 2 families with plenty of toys for the little ones. We stayed here with our two kids (7 & 2) along with another family with a toddler as well and it was plenty of space for all 7 of us. It was close to Bryce, Cedar Breaks and Zion and was only 2 hours away from Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell. Amanda was awesome and was just a text away with any questions that I had which were very few. We will definitely use this cabin again if/when we come back.
Thanks for the nice review! Glad to hear you had a wonderful time!
Great trip for hiking
We spent a week at this wonderful house. We are a family of 6 with 4 kids (6, 9, 12, 14). We liked that the master was on the top floor and the other bedrooms were in the basement. If you have young children this may be difficult. The house was clean and ready when we arrived. The owners were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. There was a wild fire 20 miles to the north and the owners kept us up to date. We visited Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Kodachrome and Cedar Breaks national parks. Zion was very crowded, we waited 40 minutes for a shuttle bus at the visitor center.
The railing on the deck and the back stairs needs to be reinforced or replaced. Otherwise the house was perfect.
Located approximately 11 miles outside of Duck Creek Village, in the Elk Ridge community at the corner of the 14 & 89. Approximately 2 hours from the north rim of the Grand Canyon and 1/2 hour from both Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Many hiking trails and scenic area to explore.
