The St. Regis Resort is a family-friendly facility on a beautiful 26-mile-long barrier island. Access to the ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, bays, and the New River provides lots of water sports options.
Historic Wilmington, established in 1739, sits on the Cape Fear River and features interesting sites. Visit The Wilmington Railroad Museum, Cape Fear Museum, Fort Fisher, the Cotton Exchange, and the Battleship North Carolina. Wilmington features multiple historic districts. Arts and theater are available with more than 400 projects filmed in the area.
Fresh seafood is the order of the day! Pizza can be delivered to your door. A wide variety of restaurants are available in the Topsail/Sneads Ferry/Surf City area located on or near the island. Wilmington features dining on the River Walk and Wrightsville Beach provides beach and intracoastal dining.
Parks, gardens, and other nature-based tourism include Airlie Gardens, Arboretum at New Hanover, multiple mansions and parks, as well as other features. The Azalea Festival is held every spring.
Coastal shopping is available on and off the island. Mayfaire Town Center is located off Route 17 in Wilmington and features restaurants, a movie theater, with over 65 shops.
