Be among the first to rent this bright, spacious, family-friendly home. This new listing sits on a lovely, one-acre rural lot just seven minutes from downtown Whitefish, 20 minutes from the Whitefish Mountain Resort and 30 minutes from Glacier National Park. From the large deck, enjoy your morning coffee or grill up dinner while savoring the beautiful view of the (usually) snow-capped Swan Mountain Range and watching the ducks and geese paddling on our charming local Country Lake. Or, relax in the shade on the large, covered front porch where you can take in a summer rainstorm or, if you're an early riser, catch the flock of wild turkeys wander through the front yard making their daily neighborhood rounds.
The house can sleep 8-10 people. We have four bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs, (three with queen beds, and one with two twins beds) and a futon couch in the family room which converts into a very comfortable full-sized bed. There are two full bathrooms and plenty of towels and linens. There are hardwood floors throughout much of the house.
Upstairs there is a large living room with a picture window facing the mountains and lake adjacent to the dining area with a table that can seat up to 8 people (10 if a couple of them are junior-sized). The large, cheery kitchen has plenty of counter space and is fully stocked with all the appliances, tableware, utensils and cookware you will need to whip up some memorable vacation meals.
Downstairs is a spacious family room with cable TV, Wii, DVD and VCR, along with a large selection of movies for all tastes, from Disney to Drama to Documentary. We provide lots of board games and puzzles for family game nights. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer for your use.
The large yard is fenced (pets permitted, on approval) with a fire ring and plenty of wood where you can sit outside and enjoy S'mores and scary stories by the fire, or relax with a bottle of wine after a great day of recreating and exploring the beauty of northwest Montana.
As an added bonus, we have a canoe, several kayaks, camping gear and other outdoor gear available for use by our guests.
Best of all, from our convenient location, you are minutes from endless adventure and natural beauty. Experience the glory of Glacier National Park (don't forget your bear spray!), get exhilarated (and wet!) on a whitewater rafting or kayaking adventure, sunbath and swim at the beach on gorgeous Whitefish Lake, ski or snowboard the day away at the world-class Whitefish Mountain Resort (or check out their zipline and mountain bike and hiking trails in the summer), golf (or cross-country ski) at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course, go fly fishing (or ice fishing) in one of our many beautiful rivers or lakes, stroll through art galleries, antique stores and local shops in charming Whitefish by day and at night, gear up for its exceptional theater, symphony, and vibrant music, dancing and bar scene. All this and much, much more are within minutes of your vacation home.
In the summer of 2002, the Mazur family set off from their home in southern California in an RV on their long-planned Great American Roadtrip through the Western United States. As fortune would have it, while passing through Montana, they wandered into Whitefish for breakfast one morning and immediately fell in love with the beautiful, friendly, laid-back town. Within a year, they had packed up their house in So-Cal (along with 2 kids, three dogs, four cats and a snake), and returned to Whitefish for good.
Now, more than ten years later, the kids are grown and off to college and the Empty-Nesters don't need so much space anymore. So, we welcome you to our home and hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
The owners are local and always available to offer ideas for great things to do in the Last Best Place.
Janice Mazur purchased this house in 2003
We stayed here with a group of 5 people and 1 dog with a plan of exploring Whitefish and Glacier. There was plenty of space for all of us and the house felt home-y. Our dog enjoyed playing with Mick next door (Mick is awesome at playing Frisbee by the way). The patio was great for enjoying a cool fall day. Some other features worth mentioning are that the house is on a quiet residential loop so there isn't much traffic. The loop is 1.5 miles which is great for walking the dog or getting in a quick jog.
The drive time from the house to Apgar Village was only 35 minutes and we took multiple day trips into Glacier during our stay. The drive to Whitefish is a brief 8 minutes and we enjoyed our time there as well. Overall this house is what we were looking for: a quiet place to relax but within easy distance of the attractions of the Flathead valley and Glacier.
We had a group of six in town for a family wedding. The location couldn't have been more perfect, only a few houses down from our brother's home where the wedding took place. The house was spacious, clean, comfortable beds, and well stocked for our needs. Enjoyed the morning sunrises on the back deck along with visits from the Blue Jays. The owners are quick to respond and were great hostesses. We visited the downtown area of Whitefish and had a great breakfast along with great waitstaff at Swift Creek Cafe. Enjoyed some drinks on the rooftop SKYBAR at Casey's with great views of the mountains. Beautiful area, must see Glacier National Park! We will return again some day.
It was so nice working with Janice as she is easy to talk with and very accommodating. Mick, the on-site Border Collie, is very friendly and always eager to play. The large, fenced yard is fabulous for 2 and 4 legged mammals alike! We really like the location of the house - It's only a 30 minute drive to Glacier National Park as well as 10 minutes to Whitefish, 10-15 minutes to the airport and 25 minutes to Kalispell. The quiet neighborhood was the cherry on top for us.
We had a lovely stay at this location! Both Janice and Bill were very accommodating and were available for the numerous questions we had for them. The house was clean, well stocked, and just the right size for our group of eight. If you enjoy hanging outside, both front and back porches provided great locations to sit and chat or have dinner. Plenty of games for the boys although they particularly liked the mini foosball table. My dog, Hintza, LOVED the backyard and spent most of the time playing with their sweet sweet pup, Mick. Personally, I loved sitting on the porch in the mornings listening to the hen turkeys call back and forth.
You're a quick 20-minute drive from West Glacier. If you're into hiking and have kiddos that like to hike, I highly recommend the Hidden Lake trail. The trailhead is at Logan Pass and the hike is approximately 5 miles round-trip. Amazing views of both the mountains and wildlife. If you're into fishing then the Flathead river is where you want spend your time. North, Middle, and South Fork all have something nice to offer. Additionally, there is great fishing within the park and you aren't required to have a license within park boundaries although you should read the regulations carefully. We spent the last day with the boys at a small mini golf/maze/go cart place called Amazing Fun Center. Their maze is legit, be prepared to spend at least an hour in it. The fun center was affordable and totally worth it, lots of laughs all around.
Looking forward to another trip into Glacier at some point. We would definitely choose this property again!
We had a fun family vacation in this house, which was well-stocked. We had 10 people, including 4 kids (ages 2 thru 13), plus 2 dogs. The back deck was great and the yard was very big for everyone to run around. It was very easy to find, plus close to downtown Whitefish. It was about a half hour drive to the west entrance of Glacier National Park.
We enjoyed being close to Glacier National Park. We were a little disappointed that we didn't have a lake to use for canoeing. Whitefish Lake made up for it. Our kids thought Paddle Boarding was amazing. They got to see a buck, doe and twin fawns. At the edge of the lake. They wouldn't have seen them if not for the Paddle Boards. What a great place to visit. We loved Macdonald Lake and Lodge. Loved Wildhorse Island and seeing the wild horses. Our grandson took over 1,000 pictures. We did see the wild turkeys with their babies, and deer. Forgot my camera on our first walk around Malard Loop. Never forgot it again. Thanks for adding to our memories.
