We are excited to offer our lovely vacation home for rent. Our home has four bedrooms: two with queen beds, one with twin beds, and one with a day bed with trundle and a futon (total of 3 twins). Three of the bedrooms are upstairs and one is in the bonus room above the garage. The large master suite includes two walk-in closets and a bathroom with double vanities, soaking tub, and shower.
The house sleeps 9 comfortably, plus there are two extra mattresses which could be placed in any room.
The main floor has 4 rooms: the eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, and study. We love to have our grandchildren visit and have games and play equipment in the backyard. Free wireless internet is available and cable tv.
We love to cook and the kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave, dishwasher, coffeepot, and toaster oven.
All linens are included and there is a first floor laundry you can use.
Two adult bikes are available for your use in the garage.
In the summer we have a large vegetable garden in the back and guests are welcome to help themselves to any ripe produce!
We purchased this home as a personal vacation home because we love the historic Franklin area and wanted to be close to our son's family. It has become a favorite weekend retreat for us and we especially enjoy the backyard and working with vegetables and flowers.
Lois Clymer purchased this house in 2012
PROS: Accepted pets, fenced yard, garage, ping-pong table, adequate driveway to park off the street, deck is large and easily accessible, easy to find, close to grocery store, etc., spacious enough for all of us. DVD player was nice to be able to view our favorite Christmas movie. The washer/dryer was nice for my grandsons who arrived from college with dirty laundry.
CONS: expensive for only 3 nights (once deposits, etc., are added in). When I arrived I had to clean up the kitchen and dining area to be able to begin preparing food for my family, which was stressful for me, as I wanted everything to be done to be able to sit and dine as soon as the rest of the family arrived. There just was no where to prep the food. I brought totes with groceries, presents, paper products, etc., along with suitcases, of course, and there was nowhere to store those. I had in mind a picturesque family Christmas and it was more like camping out with totes stacked every where and I had to retrieve items from the totes as there was no room on the counters, closets or in the cupboards. The refrigerator was fairly full of someone's food. My 11 year-old grandson cleaned the refrigerator on his own. (I didn't ask him to do that.) The furniture was adequate but very old. The beds were hard and the pillows were skimpy. The sinks, tubs, shower, toilets were adequate, but again, I expected more cleanliness for the money. Cobwebs are everywhere and actual dirt piled up around the baseboards and woodwork. The stove and microwave, counter tops had food stuck to them, as well as the aforementioned refrigerator. Berber carpets are really dirty and those are easy to clean - I have them in my own home. There are stairs everywhere you go. I just didn't realize that there was no 1st floor bedroom. This was the 1st time I rented an actual home, and some of this is probably ignorance on my part, but I most likely will not be doing this again.
I don't usually leave reviews for homes and realize that I tend to book homes based a lot on the reviews, so maybe I should start. We rent homes almost exclusively for vacations as opposed to hotels. With kids or extended family involved, it is usually cheaper and easier and allows groups the ability to spend more time together and less money on restaurants :)
I have mixed feelings about this home.
*Good communication from host during booking process.
*Good location in Franklin - close to grocery stores, Starbucks and the freeway. Not too far from downtown Franklin or Nashville.
*Toys and big backyard with swing set for kids.
*Good sleeping spaces for kids.
*Kitchen had good amount of pots, pans, etc. for cooking.
*Good amount of space to spread out.
*Did not feel like a vacation rental. Felt like a very lived in home that wasn't as clean as you would like or as updated as you would like.
*Towels were all mismatched and seemed rather old. There were not enough towels for our group of 10 (even though that was the number booked with and the home says it sleeps 11).
*Sleeping 11 is including 6 spots on beds (two being very small twins) and a spot on a day bed, a trundle to the day bed, a couch (not sofa bed), a hard futon.
*Cleaning fee does not seem to be for a professional service to come in and clean, but I cannot confirm this. There were cobwebs in almost all corners of the home, bathroom doors and kitchen cupboards were not wiped down, corners were not well swept or vacuumed.
Overall, I would probably not book this home again unless it was my only option.
This house was perfect for our needs. Our granddaughter was thrilled to find toys to play with. The bonus room was perfect for our single boys. The home was close to grocery stores as well as the airport and downtown Nashville. We loved how much room we had.
The home is beautiful on the outside and is in a lovely neighborhood. The deck and backyard was nice, and we enjoyed sitting in the swing watching our grandkids play on the playset. Inside the house, however, was a very strong odor. We didn't know if it was from a pesticide, mold, mildew, gas from an old jeep in the garage, or what. I text the owner but never got a response.
We enjoyed our stay at the house. We were in town for a conference and the house had plenty of room for us to spread out while still enjoying being together. The location was easy to find and it is near a lot of great restaurants and entertainment options. Everything was just as Lois said it would be. The house was clean and well kept. We would definitely stay here again
This house was just perfect for our large family! There were 11 of us, including several children. The home is well-equipped with toys, games, and a ping pong table. But the huge fenced in back yard was what sold us. It was perfect for the children.
We came into town for our daughter's wedding, so we had additional family pop in at times and we never felt crowded. The house is spacious and had everything we needed....I didn't even have to bring a high chair or port-a-crib. There is even a printer set up which was a huge blessing since we needed to print out schedules for the bridal party. The neighborhood is beautiful and the location was ideal for us! Every place we needed to go was no more than 15 minutes away.
The owner is very kind and always responded to my questions right away. We really appreciated her instructions for checking in and checking out. We would absolutely rent this home again! Thank you, Lois!
This property is located close to beautiful historic Franklin. It is in a quiet residential area, great for walking or biking! Minutes from all major restaurant chains and retail stores. 20 miles south of Nashville.
