About Rodney B. Long

We searched all the beaches in North Carolina and upper South Carolina for a beach house. We fell in love with Ocean Isle Beach. It is just the perfect setting. One visit and you will be hooked on OIB.

Rodney B. Long purchased this house in 2007

Why Rodney B. Long chose Ocean Isle Beach

This beach house is located on a man made canal with dock and the street has direct access to the beach. We think that Ocean Isle Beach is the best beach in North and South Carolina. Once you see it and stay here you will see why. Would not have a beach house anywhere else but OIB.

This house has 4 bedrooms with each having its own bathroom. It has a greatroom for family entertaining, great access to the beach and private dock with ladder on the canal for boating, fishing and swimming. Large decks for outside fun and widows watch deck. It is the perfect Beach Home.

Ocean Isle Beach/Atlantic Ocean
Car: recommended

Ocean Isle Beach is a coastal barrier island located along the Atlantic Ocean on the southern coastline of Brunswick County. It is conveniently located between the historic port town of Wilmington, NC and fast pace of Myrtle Beach, SC, with the commute to either city being within twenty to thirty miles. The island was incorporated as the Town of Ocean Isle Beach in 1959 and has a current year-round resident population of approximately 554, with a seasonal population of 25,000. Ocean Isle Beach offers seven miles of pristine beach and provides a family beach environment. The Town operates under a council-mayor form of government and provides its citizens with a variety of municipal services, including police and fire protection, water, sewer and sanitation service as well as an oceanfront community center. This is the greatest place for a Beach vacation hands down. OIB is the place to be.

Relaxing and Fun

  • 5 of 5

We had a great relaxing and fun week. We were able to bring our boat and have easy access to the waterway and ocean. Relaxing on the porch in the evenings and grilling our daily catch was like my retirement dream happening for this brief week.

Anniversary celebration /vacation Labor Day 2017

  • 5 of 5

Our first vacation at Ocean Isle in this perfect vacation home was fabulous! Plenty of space for our family of 8 including lovely bedrooms, wonderful updated, well-equipped kitchen, relaxing deck, and the new dock was great place to enjoy fishing. We also rented kayaks and thoroughly enjoyed learning a new sport ( for a few of us). The canals are great for exploring with the kayaks. The beach is beautiful and not crowded. It is an easy walk, little over a block away. The outside shower needs a little attention--only used it to wash hands after fishing.

This lovely home is very clean, and I can't say enough about how impressed we all were with the comfortable space and cleanliness. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with dinner for 10 and had plenty of room. We'll be talking about this Labor Day weekend for many years---wonderful memories!

The widow's walk is a great area to relax in the evening, and we got some great pics of the full moon & sunset!

Thank you Rodney & Traci for sharing your lovely home!!

This house was perfect for a family of 10 consisting of 6 adults and 4 children! Great location!

From the minute you walk into the door you know you have found your home for the week. The living area is open and inviting - opening up to the kitchen and dinning room. The kitchen is well equipped and big enough for several people to move around in. The house was clean and ready for us. Each bathroom had a fresh roll of toilet paper and a soft soap container waiting for us. (That was a very nice touch) With 2 bedrooms upstaris and 2 bedrooms down staris we did not feel like we were on top of each other we were able to spread out and enjoy the space. The sitting room outside the master bedroom was perfect for my granddaughter. We loved the widow's walk at the top of the house. The meteor shower was amazing up there. The beach access at the end of the street is easy and a short walk. The floating dock was a favorite with the grandchildren - it was perfect for fishing and swimming in the canal. We hope to be back for another week at this great house.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning, the owner Rodney was quick to respond to questions I had regarding the rental home. This was my first time renting a large house for more than a few days and I needed to coordinate it for my extended family members that were coming from different parts of the US for the vacation week. It was very easy to communicate with Rodney and even during our stay, he responded quickly to my questions.

We really enjoyed the rental home. The location of the home on the canal made it convenient for our families to enjoy the water-fishing, swimming, kayak, paddle boarding. The waterway in the canal was calm at all times so that we could enjoy those activities. There was plenty of space in the house for the eleven of us to sleep and relax. It was a hot week during July and the air conditioning worked very well so we were comfortable inside on both levels. It was good to have a bathroom with each bedroom and the living room/dining room area was well used by us. The updated kitchen was spacious and had plenty of pots/pans/dishes/utensils for us to use. The widow watch was a great place to relax in the evenings for some stargazing.

One minor criticism was that upon arrival, some of the bathrooms didn’t have toilet paper (bathroom waste baskets were all lined), partial roll of paper towel in the kitchen and just the one lined kitchen garbage can. It would have been helpful for the owners to provide some of the disposable paper items (such as full roll of toilet paper in each of the bathrooms and extra kitchen garbage bags), even for a few days. The only other downside was a slow wireless internet connection making it difficult to check emails when multiple people were trying to connect as this was the case with the number of people/devices we had.

Overall, we would highly recommend this rental house because of the owner and house amenities. The neighborhood of Ocean Isle Beach was peaceful with friendly neighbors and walkable beach access just a block and half away. We enjoyed our vacation very much.
