Beautiful home with views and central to so much!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this location. Everything was in excellent condition. The house backs up to a beautiful mountain that provides a great hike and a beautiful view of Ski Apache Mountain. Its central location makes it an easy drive to many of the popular destinations. Minutes from the three casinos including Mountain Inn of the Gods, downtown shopping, Cloud Croft, Ski Apache and so much more. Make it a point to visit St Joseph also which is only a short drive. Wonderful vacation and will happily return to enjoy this fine home. Thank you.

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here. Very comfortable and quiet. We saw some shy deer. Loved the atmosphere and quirkiness of the cabin. Would definitely recommend it. My sister, daughter, childhood friend and I stayed here. We did the Ski Apache Zipline, Carlsbad Caverns, Fox Caverns and downtown Ruidoso. The zipline is a Must! Thanks Lynn!

Another Nice Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay in this nice home. The mid-day weather was a bit warm this time of year and the air conditioner worked great. The cool evenings were spent out on the back porch reading and looking for the deer to graze by. The home is very clean and everything worked great (toilets flush, drains work, showers have plenty of pressure and hot water, fridge is full size and freezer works good too). The owner (Lynn) is very pleasant to visit with and very responsive to questions. We saw deer each day right off the porches (there are 3). The property borders the forest and the neighborhood is quiet. Overall a very nice time and we are already planning to come back again.

Relaxing time

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at your cabin with our kids and grandsons, and the cabin was comfortable for the eight of us. We especially loved the back deck, and the boys enjoyed exploring in the forest, watching the deer, and even built a fort!

Very quite neighborhood.

  • 4 of 5

Really relaxing weekend. Nice quite neighborhood. Forgot Ruidoso water is not good to drink. Had to run to Walmart for jugs of water. The front steps are very narrow and need a little work. We used the back for entrance. Would stay again.

Needs attention to detail.

  • 3 of 5

I stay in VRBO rentals often with my family and friends. They normally are very clean, nice and comfortable. This rental is a basic mountain cabin, and it would have been fine, but it was not at all clean. I had to go to the grocery store and buy Comet, a cleaning sponge and gloves to clean the filthy sink. We also felt the need to clean all the utensils and glasses and dishes before we used them. They looked filthy...I guess it is the hard water, so they need a softener. There were no tissues, napkins or matches/lighter either, so I had to buy those too. An exterminator needs to spray the house, as there were a lot of stink bugs and another type of bug in the bathtubs, sinks, and showers. The bath or hand towels were not soft, and I didn't know if they were clean because they were hung as if someone had just taken a shower and hung them. The toilet in the master bath broke first night and the power went out several times. We couldn't find the dvd remote so we could watch a movie at night. We found the tv and vcr remotes under the couch cushions where we also found a water bottle, lots of crumbs, and trash. We never found the dvd remote, but managed to watched a dvd without being able to use widescreen option, any menu options, or reverse, pause, etc..and the tv remote was useless since there weren't even the few channels claimed to be available. I wanted to start the fireplace, but couldn't figure it out. This house was a basically ok place with neither a mountain or valley view. The woods behind the house were fine, but there weren't any chairs on the back deck to sit in except one small folding chair. The screens on all the deck doors need to be put on correctly so they are usable. The screens were just leaning against the doors. I suggest they try a little harder to make the house very clean, have the basic necessities like tissues and napkins, and add some extra touches to make it nicer. The property manager was friendly and easy to work with and responded to my emails. The transaction was easy. I did try to call her when we couldn't find the dvd remote and again when the the power went out, but she didn't answer her phone and her voicemailbox was full. I don't think I'd stay there again.

Owner's Response: As property manager, this review distressed me, as I have always tried to give all my guests a nice, clean place to stay. The plumbing problems have been solved. I have spoken with my cleaning service, and all issues this guest mentioned have been addressed. I also had the exterminaor in. I usually supply paper towels in the kitchen, and tissue in the bathrooms. This guest did call me about the remote control, but I could not tell her where it was. As for the power going out, that happens fairly often in Ruidoso, but seldom lasts long.

Ruidoso is a popular vacation spot because there's something for everyone. It is a fantastic ski area for Winter fun, and horse-racing during the Summer. There are many specialty shops downtown and kid-friendly activities (water park, public swimming pool, mini golf, go-carts, hiking, tubing, Skate park, movies, etc.). For adults there are casinos-Inn of the Mountain Gods, Apache Travel Center, Billy the Kid at Ruidoso Downs. There are several golf courses, a disc (frisbee) golf course, tennis courts. skiing, a skateboard park, and a waterpark. You can also go sight-seeing--visit popular nearby tourist attractions, such as Cloudcroft, NM Capitan, NM, and Alamogordo, NM. For 'UFOlogists' Roswell, NM is about 1 hour away through the scenic Hondo Valley. Check out some aliens!! For live entertainment, there is the Spencer Theater, Flying J Ranch, and concerts at Inn of the Mountain Gods. There are several lakes for fishing (Bonito Lake, Grindstone Lake, others), etc. There's even an old west ghost town -White Oaks, NM- about 50 miles away!!
