About Kevin and Doreen Sinnett
Doreen and I are both native Annapolitans, growing up sailing, fishing, and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, MD. Married for 37 years, Doreen graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing and I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. Doreen, while juggling the schedules of our three active daughters, completed a successful career as a Registered Nurse. I was a career Naval Aviator, piloting the P-3 Orion patrol aircraft. While serving at Naval Air Station Brunswick, ME, we fell in love with the beautiful Rangeley Lakes Region and in 1983 purchased an old camp on the west shore of Rangeley Lake in Oquossoc. In 2006, at the age of 50, we fulfilled our dream and retired to the lake. I am a Registered Maine Guide (hunting, fishing, recreational), the Vice President of the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsman’s Association, and a Director on the Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society. We are active parishioners of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Parish, where Doreen volunteers as a Eucharistic Minister.

Loved the Loon's Nest!
The Loon's Nest was absolutely perfect. The setting was fantastic. We had private 'Adirondack" style chairs just outside our large sliding door and we were only a stones throw from the lake. The chairs and room faced east and offered a nice view of the sunrise over the lake. We watched Loons swimming and diving only yards off shore in the early morning. The room was flawless. It was as if it had been constructed the day before we arrived. It was decorated very nicely and the presence of Loon decor lets you know which room you were in. Before we booked the room we read reviews, as you are now. I had read that the noise of the dehumidifier, which is necessary in a basement room, was a little annoying. It didn't bother my wife or myself. Before hand I was a little concerned about privacy because in one of the pictures it show a window with a stairway directly outside it. That has apparently been changed because I can assure you it isn't there. We were very happy with everything about our stay and highly recommend the Loon's Nest.
Such a great place!
We had such a great time at the Loon's Nest. The owner's were very welcoming and inviting. The suite was larger than I expected, very clean, and had everything we could have needed. It was easy to get to several hiking spots and to get to downtown Rangeley. I would definitely stay here again, and I have suggested it to a few others. Doreen and Kevin - thank you so much for your hospitality!
Beautiful house and surroundings, great owners :)
The owners were very welcoming and the suite was extremely comfortable. We had a wonderfully relaxing time. We highly recommend staying here :)
Suite with a View
We were very comfortable in Loon's Nest. The open area living/dining area was spacious and had what we needed to make easy meals. The bedroom was large, the bed comfortable and the closet roomy. The view of the lake was fantastic!!!! We only wish the weather had been a little warmer so we could have had a fire by the lake.
The only drawback was the dehumidifier, which was loud when running. We were able to turn it off at night at this time of year. If the weather had been warmer, it would have been nice to have the door open, but you can't do that with the humidifier needing to run constantly. Kevin and Doreen were very helpful with dining suggestions and places to see. When and if we get back to the Rangeley area, we would like to return to Loon's Nest.
The nest is perfect for a couple looking for a beautiful place to relax.... or be active with the complimentary kayaks and hiking trails close by. The hosts are so sweet and helpful. Would love to return for a longer stay.
Loon's Nest Getaway
The rooms were immaculate, and the hosts were exceptionally accomadating. We enjoyed the canoeing , and on my evening kayaking tour I spotted a mother loon with her baby. The local country store made great regular and gluten-free pizza. I would highly recommend this home to my friends.
