Great Location in the middle of Newport, RI!
We were in Newport for the International Boat Show at the docks, so location was very important. The house is just up the hill from Thames St, an easy 4 minute walk down a lovely, quiet, old street, past the old church, shops and through a nice park. It's also close to Bellevue Ave and other interesting areas. It's really in the center of the area, with plenty of restaurants and other establishments close - but not too close. Despite other guests in the house it was very private and quiet. The apartment itself was very clean with a big comfortable bed, nice linens and plenty of room for 2 people. The main room has the bed, a small sofa bed if you need it and a couple of chairs and a TV. The kitchen has a nice big table and chairs. We were greated with a large basket of goodies, including water, sodas, nuts, chips and more. There is a fancy one cup coffee system with nice coffees, plus a regular drip coffee pot for people like us who drink a pot each AM. There is a very large lobster pot; go to the docks on the other side of the Wyndom Long Wharf and buy some just caught lobsters for much less than in a store! For restaurants, we love Franklin Spa, El Perrito Mexican, the Thai Restaurant, the old Handy Diner and Via Via. There are several Irish Pubs around - all good. You can spend a lot of $$$ in restaurants in Newport, or you can find the little "locals" places which are very good and reasonable. Oh, and if you are in Middletown go to Anthonys Seafood market and restaurant- look it up, you won't be sorry. Would we stay here again? Yes, hopefully during the 2015 boat show!
Great base for our vacation.
We had just a great stay in Newport at this property. It's location was absolutely ideal-- within walking distance to just about everything in Newport. The house itself was comfortable and well maintained on the inside, with a clear investment having been made to keep it up to date. The owner was great-- in touch and clearly interested in our stay. Highly recommended.
We rented a unit on the first floor of the Benjamin Tisdale House in July. The unit was perfect for our needs (just 2 of us) and very convenient to both Thames St. and a quick walk to Bellevue/Memorial Blvd.
The unit was very clean, quiet, and the added bonus of a kitchen was great. Off-street parking was available as well as a parking pass for town.
Owners were very responsive and helpful- we would certainly recommend a stay here!
Directly in the center of Newport. Perfect for walking.
