“Come-Stay” at the Grey Gull . Relax in our charming serene cottage. Enjoy majestic views of the Maine water front on which sit not one, but two, cottages of similar construction and unique styles. Behind the Grey Gull, there is additional lodging upstairs in the garage apartment that offers amazing views of the water in a tree house like setting. The Grey Gull is a modified Cape located in Gouldsboro in the Acadia region. It offers seclusion, sweeping views, stunning sunrises and everything you need to enjoy your seaside vacation. When you turn into the beach rose lined gravel drive, the water greets you and is only 30 feet from the properties. Built in 1950, this cottage sleeps four comfortably. The garage apartment provides space for two people. The Gull is separated from the Blue Loon cottage by a fun scalloped fence.
The Gull’s simple furnishings give it a clean feel, top to bottom.
The kitchen is both fun and functional. There is a charming breakfast nook overlooking the water, a farmhouse sink and dishwasher. The living room looks out to sweeping long views of the water. The sofa is comfy in front of the gas stone hearth fireplace. A great spot to pick up the binoculars and do a little bird watching.
On ground level there is also a napping room with a day bed for a afternoon snooze. Upstairs are two loft bedrooms each with double beds . The screened front porch brings the ocean air in and is a beautiful spot to watch lobster boats check traps, wildlife and watch the sea weed boats go out to gather sea weed.
In an adjacent lot beside the Grey Gull is the Blue Loon. This charming cottage also sleeps four but is more contemporary than the shabby-chic charm of the Gull. Wicker furniture accents the living room, as does a gas wood stove. Pristine water views can be enjoyed from the comfy furnishings. In the kitchen, you will find a retro table and chairs, stainless steel sink and granite counter tops. There is a full-sized bedroom on the lower level. Upstairs there is a lovely little reading room and a separate bedroom with a double bed. The screened front porch offers grand views of the water and wildlife and a very nice spot to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful spot!
Both cottages are private, but also close to sightseeing and located less than one mile from a county-maintained boat launch. An explorer can launch one of our kayaks or a canoe into water at the cottages or at the county maintained boat launch less than a mile from the cottages. The pink granite shoreline at low tide is a great way to check out the sea life just beneath the rocks and sea weed. Or, enjoy a stroll to the bait shack and relax with your book at the picnic table that is on the long wharf overlooking the water.
Take a leisurely walk down the road and enjoy the fragrance of spruce and cedar. Activities in the Schoodic Peninsula villages of Prospect Harbor, Corea and Winter Harbor are a mere 15 minutes away as is stunningly beautiful Schoodic Loop Drive Park. Bar Harbor is less than an hour’s drive, but nearby Ellsworth(about 22 miles) offers shopping in some big box stores. Don’t miss John Edwards Market on Main Street to find organic groceries and a great wine selection …Summer events take place at Hammond Hall in Winter Harbor. Grindstone Neck public golf course (also in Winter Harbor), pubs, dining and Bartlett Maine Estate Winery and Catherine Hill Winery are nearby.
The town of Milbridge is about 14 miles north on US 1. Milbridge has a nice grocery store , a pharmacy, banks, dentist, doctors, and several nice restaurants…There is a great Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings in the Camden National bank parking lot.
We are pleased to offer our guests 10% off on all purchases at our specialty gift and accessories store, Riverlily. We are close by in the sweet little town of Cherryfield. (find us on Facebook or theriverlily)
Whether at the cottages, or out and about, here you will feel worlds away from the hustle bustle of a busy life… So, “Come-Stay!”

About Jeff Or Pj Trowell
We bought this beautiful property about 10 years ago and have been working on it ever since...Lots of care and planning went into "saving" these little cottages...They were in pretty bad shape when we purchased them. We spent weeks (when we could) working on them. We built the garage apartment first so we could have a nice clean place to kick back after working on the cottages all day.
Why Jeff Or Pj Trowell chose Gouldsboro
this property is very special. It is away from all hustle and bustle. The views from the cottage are just so amazing...a great place to unwind.
What makes this Cottage unique
You can't get closer to the water! Beautiful sunrises! Lobster boats and seaweed boats cruise right out in your "front yard"!!!

Quaint cottage in a spetacular location
My husband & I spent a wonderful week at this adorable cottage. First of all, cleanliness is very important to us. The cottage was spotless! The bedding was also very clean, cozy and comfortable. The owners had many "little extras" that showed they really care about their guests stay. Jeff & PJ were always available had we needed anything. Internet issues were the ONLY thing we had any problems with. But hey, we were way up North so it certainly wasn't their fault. The owners kept the cottage as authentic as possible when renovating, which we loved. Being so close to the water and waking up to the spectacular view every morning was amazing. It's a 45 min ride to Bar Harbor but being able to come back to the serenity of the cottage (after all the crowds) was worth the trip.
We have traveled to many places in the world, but living in Maine and vacationing in our own state is in our top 5 for sure. We highly recommend staying here, we loved it and hope you will also.
Beautiful, peaceful, lovely cabin!
Gray Gull Cottage is truly paradise! We had everything we could possibly need and then some. The view is spectacular, the cottage is roomy and well appointed. Jeff and PJ are wonderful hosts. I can't say enough about this place, we didn't want to leave!
We were delighted with every aspect of our stay at the Grey Gull Cottage.
Our plan is to return for a longer stay next year.
The cottage is quaint, comfortable, and very equipped. Owners are close and very attentive. The location is exceptional. There is a "side yard" full of wild flowers which you walk thru, on a path to get to the fishing shack, and the dock with picnic table. A week just wasn't long enough.
This is a great little cottage close enough to town to run in for supplies or dinner but far enough away to unplug a little. I enjoyed using the kayaks and watching the humming birds at the feeder in the morning. We used it as our home base to start our day with some breakfast and coffee before setting out on day trips. The cottage has everything you need to make a home away from home and is a great place to unwind after a day of exploring. One day we went to Bar Harbor to bike ride in Arcadia and took the ferry from Winter Harbor over to Bar Harbor to rent bikes. The ferry ride was beautiful, with lots of wildlife to view and there was a bus that picked up just outside the ferry and went right down into Bar Harbor making it easy for us to find town and pick up our bikes. One the way back we just walked since it is less than a mile to the ferry from town, we were really glad we decided to use alternative methods of transportation since Bar Harbor was packed with cars and it made the journey stress free. Thanks Jeff and PJ for making such a nice space for us to enjoy.
Beautiful, magical peaceful place on he edge of the U.S. adorable cottage with private hut with double bed and wood burning stove right next to the water. Canoes and kayaks and hummingbirds and friendly chipmunks!
Wish we could have stayed longer
Lovely cottage in a quiet location. PJ and Jeff were very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely return if in Maine again but would stay longer as 4 days was not enough time to enjoy all this area has to offer.
