About Sallie Felton
Now in the third generation; our 'Salters' home has been and remains near and dear to us. It has been a gathering place for our large expanding family. Grandchildren, nieces and nephews flock each summer to get their fill of cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Some renters have dubbed this special place 'the happy house'; we hope you feel the same. Because this is a summer community, we ask that no weddings, rehearsal dinners, large reunions or the like be held here at our house.
Sallie Felton purchased this House in 1934

Perfect spot to enjoy the ocean while sipping on your morning coffee or after dinner drinks.
This house is a truly perfect New England summer home. You can catch the sunrise off the front porch over the ocean and follow the sun around the house to the stone pattio and relax there while playing lawn games, sunbathing and/or grilling. A short walk to Pier Beach, where you can jump off the pier and swim to the float was a highlight, especially this late in the season. Or another short walk to South Beach to comb the sand for sea glass. We had an awesome time at Buzzards Bay Brewery on Friday night, where we had oysters, shrimp, tacos, music and of course beer. Can't go wrong there!
If you are looking for a house with enough room for friends and family, spectacular views of Buzzards Bay, 2 private beaches, private golf course, amazing local restaurants, breweries, wineries, and music. You must book this place now, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much for this fabulous review. It absolutely sums up what this spot is all about. A little piece of heaven! I can't add anything more.
Couldn't have been better!
Plenty of space, wonderful views from every aspect. Salter's Point is heavenly. Ideal for a multi-generational celebration. Well equipped kitchen and pantry for bringing in additional guests. Be prepared to go all the way to Dartmouth to a Stop and Shop -- or to avoid that trip by using Peapod, or coming with food (for which there are TWO refrigerators) and count on the fare at nearby farm stands.
Salters has always been a sliver of heaven; so glad to have shared it with you and with any future renters. As for the trips to the grocery story, the causeway will finally be opening next year, 2018!!! Believe me, we are even happier than you....
We hope you come back to this idyllic place, have a cup of coffee on the porch, look over the bay and watch the world go by.
22nd family reunion
Our return visit was just as perfect as the first one. A wonderful family home suitable for all ages in a safe and welcoming community!
So very glad to have had your family back!!! It is a piece of heaven.
Perfect for all ages
We have been holding yearly reunions for the past 21 years and this one was by far one of the best. The age range was from 4 to 78 and this wonderful family home and Salters Point suited all of our needs. We rarely left except to visit the Whaling Museum in New Bedford. A favorite for everyone was the wraparound porch and the yard was perfect for all kinds of games. The beach, too, allowed for the little ones to be close to shore, use their floats and for the more adventurous to jump off the dock. The beds were comfortable, kitchen definitely workable and the house and its history, most enjoyable.
What a wonderful review. Thank you from our family to yours. We are so glad you have experienced what we have for generation. It is indeed Heaven on Earth.
10 Family member reunion!
Rules of the house, posted in the pantry, says it all:
Help each other
Know you are loved
Pay with hugs and kisses
Try new things
Respect one another
Laugh out load
What a welcome review. It says it all; families come back and enjoy what we have had for 4 generations!! A true testament when families keep coming back to share the memories. Ocean, wrap around porch, fabulous community, and peaceful! Keep coming back...
The Wedding Planner...
This home was an excellent home away from home during a weekend Wedding excursion for our extended family of 15. Sunrise and sunset views are breathtaking. Everything needed for preparing family/group meals, except the food, of course. It was very spacious with ample breakout areas for those with different interests. The fireplaces provided the heat needed for chilly nights, and... for those who are direction-challenged, GPS takes you right to the door!
Indeed this is a special place. Sitting with your cup of coffee on the front porch overlooking Buzzard's Bay and the harbor or sharing meals with large families, the kitchen is well stocked. With an open floor plan, this house has areas to gather with friends or just be by yourself. Ideal for small gatherings, family reunions or two families.
Other Activities Within the gated community of Salters Point are 2 beautiful sandy beaches (Pier Beach and South Beach), 2 clay and 1 hard tennis court, a 7 hole casual golf course, swimming and tennis lessons, community center, organized children and adult activities and playground equipment. The New Bedford Whaling Museum is world renowned, but don’t pass up walking/hiking/exploring the DNRT trails nearby. There is a wonderful library in town which provides museum passes to local spots as well as Boston and Providence. Whale watching, fishing cruises, nurseries, vineyards, breweries, ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and so much more are all available nearby.
