Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms: 2 Queen Bedrooms and 1 with 2 Twins

Welcome to the Jonathan Folger House.

A quintessential piece of Nantucket history and charm, this saltbox style home is one of the 50 oldest on the island, as documented by the esteemed island historian, Edouard Stackpole. The ambiance of this home will make you feel part of the true Nantucket experience while you enjoy the modern conveniences which have been carefully added for today’s lifestyle.

Warmly decorated with oriental carpets and some antiques, this center-chimney home has four original brick fire places, an inviting living room with flat screen TV and a handsome beamed dining room – both ideal for indoor entertaining. There are 2 queen bedrooms (1 main floor en suite, 1 upstairs), as well as a spacious twin bedroom upstairs and fourth cozy double bedroom. The generous galley kitchen is appointed with honed granite counters and all the essentials for entertaining. Newly added air conditioning should rarely be needed, as there is often a gently breeze coming down the hill. Modern amenities include wireless internet and 2 cable TVs.

The outdoor areas include a perfect teak breakfast table just outside the back kitchen door among the climbing hydrangea, and an additional seating area in the backyard in the garden – perfect for cocktails or reading. The grounds provide privacy for relaxing on brick patio areas, surrounded by arbors, privet and Hydrangeas, which also climb the west side of the house. Additionally, should you opt for the ultimate Nantucket experience, there is a large enclosed outdoor shower.

This property is conveniently located in the Old Historic District, within view of the antique windmill, and an easy 5-10 minute walk through the old historic district to town, restaurants and the harbor. A charming home with a true Nantucket feel in a great location- a short walk to Main Street for shopping, dinner and museums. There is also parking in the driveway for one car.

About Candice Miller and Ed Bernard

We have owned this house for a long time and use it ourselves for vacation when we visit Nantucket at different times of the year. Our neighbor and friend manages this for us in our absence and has several other properties they own and rent on the same street. They are very responsive, will meet you upon arrival, respond to any issues you may have.
