About Patricia Pattison

Ever since my husband was a small child he would spend the summers on Norway lake in Maine. His parents would rent a Maine camp on the lake and he would have the time of his life swimming, playing games and just enjoying his family without the outside interferences of the world. He had the time of his life. This yearly trek continued every year for the past 40 years. We love the clean water, the quiet, the pines and everything else Norway lake has to offer. We currently reside in Vermont with our 2 dogs and 2 cats and head up to Maine about three times per year. With the dogs I might add... They love it too!

Patricia Pattison purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Patricia Pattison chose Mountains & Lakes

About 12 years ago we had the opportunity to purchase our camp... something we have been talking about for years.. We love lake Pennesseewassee, otherwise known as Norway lake for the clean water, size lake... big enough for a speed boat but not busy, and the proximity to major cities such as Portland, which is only an hour away. This was the perfect location and we jumped on it. Since that time we have offered our camp to friends and family. We have found that even though our camp is not huge and is more quaint than modern, our guests just love staying there. My husband and I decided it was time to offer our camp to others so they might enjoy. We also wanted to open our camp to any one that has a dog.... our dogs are part of our family and that was important to us.

What makes this cottage unique

Some of the things I love about our place is that it's close to the water - only 30 feet from the lake. The grounds to the waters edge are fairly flat so its easier walking. The camp is located on the east side of the lake, which means it gets direct sun from about 11:00 am until sunset. And the sunsets are glorious....Our camp is child friendly and dog friendly. If you wish to get away from the craziness of the world... this is the place... our camp will take you back to a simpler time and you will reconnect with your family and nature. One of my favorite activities is swinging on the hammock, listening to the loons or the fish jumping and watching the pines above... It's so relaxing. Or sitting at the dining room table with my coffee looking out at the lake.... or on one of the adirondack chairs by the waters edge just taking it all in... Also, on a clear night when it's dark to walk down to the dock and look up at the sky... wait a few minutes and you will see hundreds of stars and then see shooting stars. In the distance you may hear a wolf, a moose, a loon and fishing jumping. It's food for the soul.

Beautiful, clean and inviting home!

We had a very enjoyable stay. Scenery was beautiful and the house was right on the water with a dock. Family friendly home with everything imaginable. Loved the ping pong table in the basement!

Worked out great for what we wanted.

  • 4 of 5

It was a bit cool at night, but the space heater helped. We just wanted a place to stay at night while we went to the Fryeburg Fair. Clean cabin, loved the kitchen. Not used to an electric stove, but made it work. No wifi available, but that is common in the area. Beautiful view from the cabin, leaves started to turn color!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments Denice. Glad you enjoyed your stay. The nights can be a bit unpredictable this time of year with the evening temps. We always try to be honest and upfront about the possibility of colder nights. We have been discussing wifi and we may add it next year. Thanks again Patti and Jed

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This property was exactly what we were looking for. It was private and quiet. We had the best vacation of our lives here. Our dogs loved every minute of it also and had a great time swimming and learning how to ride in the kayak. :) The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We were so sad to leave to go back to reality.

Private, comfortable cottage on a beautiful Maine lake

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I was in and on the water every day and had a great time. On one canoe ride, I had a Loon about 30 feet in front of me that started doing its call. It was absolutely beautiful! We definitely plan on staying again next year. The cottage and the lake are absolutely as promised.

Beautiful home with a gorgeous view!

  • 4 of 5

Our first impression was positively impressive! The view, the cute home, the peaceful atmosphere. We would have given it a 5 star but some of the simple amenities were missing. After driving all day to get there....TP is important. Even a few sheets would have been nice so we weren't digging through the suitcase to find some. A house on a lake without a boat...is a big deal. We brought our kayaks so we were all set but we have been traveling New England for twenty years with VBRO/Home Away and always stay on a lake. Never have we stayed where there wasn't at least a canoe. There was a banana boat for one person. Little issues that mean a lot.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback Cecile. My husband and I are looking into getting a small row boat for the camp. As far as the toilet paper, I think it's in the check in instructions to bring your own but I will check. Thanks for your thoughts, I'm glad you liked our peaceful spot on the lake Patti and Jed Cecile- I did go back and check the check in instructions. You were right , thanks for bringing that to my attention. I did amend the checkin to include bringing bottled water, toilet paper and paper towels. Thanks again and I apologize for your inconvienece. Patti

Absolutely Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

One of our most enjoyable places we have rented through VRBO! The description and pictures were exact. Very clean and well maintained to our standards. A family of five with three dogs were welcomed. Truly dog friendly for responsible dog owners. A beautiful spot on the lake. Private, with surrounding pines, plenty of parking, and space for children or dogs to play. Shady to complete sun areas to relax. A large dock that we were able to tie our 16ft boat to. Although, I would recommend if bringing a boat I would drop it at launch first as the dirt road is tight and bumpy. Maine lakes do require a boating sticker from the town hall as well. We enjoyed every minute from relaxing inside watching movies, to swimming, fishing, boating, tubing, and hiking in surrounding preserves. We even saw a golden eagle and nest along the lakeside! Sunsets were amazing! The water was cool and clear. A rocky ledge that dips off, but more than sufficient to lay in or for dogs to walk. The town was close and many things to do. Farmers markets, local shops, and a hospital right in town. About 15 minutes to Walmart and 25 minutes to the Oxford Casino. For the younger crowd there is no wifi and no flat screen TV to connect to, but plenty of other activities. The owners were pleasant and easy to contact and answered all our questions thoroughly. We can't say enough and hope to rent again!
