Clean, well-kept, quiet property
Had a wonderful experience staying at this house - it was clean, well-kept, and in a quiet location. The media room was stocked with lots of children's books to entertain preschoolers. Easy drive to town. Very relaxing stay during the off-season.
A matter of balance
Looking at all the offered homes around the Hamptons, for the price, location and house itself, this appeared to be the best. My wife and I, along with two other couples from our 1970 college days feel our choice was correct
Fabulous get away home and location
Your home was spotless, the space comfortable and the location close to town and local attractions. You may hear from us in 2018 for a family gathering. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Great property in Sag Harbor!
This property was absolutely perfect for our fall stay in Sag Harbor. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen is very well equipped with new appliances, beautiful glassware and dishes and all the equipment you needed to make great meals. We enjoyed cooking in the gorgeous surroundings every night and were joined by a family of deer each night at dusk! We played board games each night that were conveniently provided in the den cabinets. It is a short walk down the street to the harbor. The neighborhood is quiet with many beautiful homes to admire. Susanne was very helpful and accommodating to us. I highly recommend this house as a perfect rental in this area!
An ideal vacation rental
11 Bittersweet Lane – Sag Harbor
In the 17 years since I gave up my year-round houses in the Hamptons, first in Southampton, then Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor, where I have been going since childhood and where I have put down social and emotional roots, I have rented a series of houses, seven by my count, for periods ranging from ten days to the entire summer. As the Hamptons have become more crowded and the kind of people who mainly constitute those crowds seem increasingly intolerable, at least by my standards and values, I prefer to seek the short, perfect rental to the longer-term deal that invariably gives less house for the money.
A year ago, I was offered the opportunity to rent 11 Bittersweet Lane at the end of the summer. I knew the owners, and that acquaintanceship had convinced me that the house would be in tiptop working order, which in my experience has not always been the case. So I signed up sight-unseen. After that first year, I immediately asked if the house might be available in 2017 and have just returned from ten blissful days.
We have put 11 Bittersweet Lane through its paces, with occupants ranging in age from 81 (me) down to 3 months (my wife’s new granddaughter). It has offered everything we could ask for. I can watch golf on TV, the kids can frolic in the pool (watched by their attentive grandmother and parents). The pool, set next to a deck and a few steps out of the living-room, is a true amenity – in the best sense of that overused word. Appliances and kitchen are up-to-date and everything works! And there are plenty of outlets! The rooms and bathrooms are wholly satisfactory: no one ever feels he or she is on top of anyone else, and yet it’s easy to communicate from one locus to another. The location is ideal. Quiet and bucolic. We tend to stay out of the surrounding towns and do most of our provisioning at North Sea Farms, a few miles up the road, which has the best corn in America, and at Schmidt’s and Clamman on the outer fringes of Southampton, far from the madding crowds of selfie-seekers who infest the village center.
Finally, a word about 11 Bittersweet’s owners as landlords. Ideal. The house comes with excellent directions, and should a problem arise, they're no further away than the telephone. Or the excellent WiFi. .
By now, I fancy I know something about Hamptons rentals. The house on Bittersweet Lane strikes me as ideal in terms of value for money and the quality of the experience.
Terrific home and location
This home was a great base for our girls' trip. We spent a long weekend exploring
Sag Harbor, East Hampton and Shelter Island. The house is located on a quiet
cul-de-sac ending at the water. The home is spacious, clean and rooms are as described and match the photos. The pool, deck and kitchen are larger in person.
Susanne was very responsive and easy to deal with. Our only regret was not staying longer.
Beautiful, and secluded bay beach, enjoy the warm bay waters and amazing sunsets just down the road, 1 minute walk away. Our house is always conveniently located close to Sag Harbor, Southampton and Bridgehampton villages, as well as to ocean beaches via nice backroads through farmland without ever having to use the traffic-heavy Montauk highway.
