About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin nestled in the woods

Come and enjoy Riverbend, a gated community, at Lake Lure and enjoy the coziness and comfort of Mountain Whispers Cabin located where the deer and turkeys roam. You will experience beautiful mountain scenery and relax in the tranquil quietness of the natural beauty of Riverbend. You will experience full winter views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and filtered views during the summer and fall.

Drive over to two private lakes, Mirror Lake and Little Mirror Lake, and enjoy the private beach and swimming area and covered pavilion with rocking chairs and barbeque pits that is available to our guests. Enjoy the fishing dock that is located on the beach right below the pavillion. Hike the nature trail that leads to the Broad River where you can picnic, fish or just play in the river. Ziplining, kayaking, tubing, gem mining and horseback riding are nearby.

This cabin will accommodate up to six guests and features a living room, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms upstairs (king and full) and one full bed downstairs and a great room downstairs with a sleeper sofa and washer and dryer. The great room features a wood burning rock fireplace. There are two full baths in the cabin, one on each floor. The outdoor grill is located just steps out the cabin door. The back deck features outstanding winter views of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and in the summer you will feel as though you are in a tree house.

The cabin is very nicely furnished and has satellite TV, phone and internet. Linens and towels are also furnished.

Boat tours are offered in the Town of Lake Lure along with a very nice lake beach with water slide. Ingles Grocery Store is just minutes away and shopping is available in the charming small town shops. A variety of restaurants is nearby. The Biltmore House (Asheville, NC) is about a 45 minute very beautiful scenic drive from this cabin. Chimney Rock Park is a 15 minute drive.

We live in a cabin on another street near this rental, and absolutely love living in this very scenic quiet area and especially enjoy seeing all the deer and turkeys and other wildlife that live in these beautiful mountains.

Well maintained and clean.

My wife and I had a great time and the cabin was perfect. Well maintained and clean. The Riverbend community is quiet and peaceful. I will definitely stay again. The amenities in Riverbend are also great (fishing, hiking, etc.).

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We love sour time here. This is a comfy cabin nestled in the woods. We enjoyed the outside swing and the sounds of nature. I t was so clean and well maintained. This cabin has a nice down star with a bedroom, bathroom, tv, playroom and a pull out couch. This was great space for my grandchildren and son. If you want a special area for kids downstairs, this is the con to go too. Also, the beds were so comfortable. We slept great. You can enjoy just resting at the cabin or going sight seeing. There are many places or go if you want to explore the area. This was a wonderful vacation for all of us!!!!

Great, Good and Not So Good

  • 3 of 5

If you are looking for an isolated mountain experience in a hard-to-find spot this is the place for you. This cozy house is way up a gravel (sort of) road in the midst of the woods. The Owner keeps a very tidy house, clean and well organized. It was a little shy on supplies and linens for a stay longer than just a few days but the kitchen is well equipped, there is outside furniture including a grill and porch swing, even kayaks and equipment. Along with wifi there is a landline, which you may need as cell coverage can be spotty. The lower level has a fireplace (wood was provided) but suffered from a musty basement atmosphere. The washer and dryer were a real bonus (detergent was provided, enough for one load).

Another big plus: total quiet, no road noise, no close neighbors, just the wind and birds.

Biggest drawback: it's a long way down to restaurants, shops and nightlife. The roads are twisty-winding to the max, making for difficult night and wet weather driving. Additionally, the Owner's directions were not accurate and because of the location, GPS did not work; thank goodness for a couple of locals who helped us out as we were driving up.

Convenient and cozy

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in this cabin twice - once with friends and loved it so much that we came back and rented ourselves. We climbed at the nearby Rumbling Bald area and felt this place was convenient and cozy for all of our needs.

Relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was clean and just the right size for our family with the 3 bedrooms and 2 living areas. It was very peaceful and homey. We loved relaxing on the porch with our coffee in the morning and on the lake beach area at the Mirror Lake just across the street. Thank you so much for the vacay!!

Clean, comfy, great location and great hostess

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was wonderful! Like others said before, it was clean and cozy – even the cobwebs were removed from the porch (something I am always wary of in the woods). There were 6 of us: Me, my 72-year old mother, 7-year old son, 14-year old daughter and 2 of her friends (14 and 16). The girls slept in the king room, my son and I slept in the double room, and my mom had the downstairs all to herself. She loved the peace and quiet of having her own space, especially since we also took our two dogs. The mattresses on the beds felt brand new and the rooms were nicely decorated.

We were thrilled to find that not only did the cabin have everything we needed, but there was so much to do in the area. We went horseback riding, gem mining, climbed Chimney Rock, played miniature golf and even walked the river path. We even shopped some in town.

We had dinner out 3 times – Fibber Magees’ (Bar/Burger joint - good, not too pricey, good service), LaStrada (Italian – excellent food, large portions, great service), and Point of View (Seafood, very pricey, fancy food, great service). Other than that we shopped at Ingles Grocery Store (right down the road!) and ate at home.

The best part was sitting on the porch relaxing after all that outdoor fun, and walking the dogs our last morning there I saw 4 white-tailed deer crossing the road. Great way to end the trip!
