About John and Lorraine
1812 Cottages are historic cottages in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake with all the conveniences of home, thus our motto ... Historic Vacation Cottages (with Newfangled Conveniences).
Why John and Lorraine chose Historic Old Town
The Court House cottage is named because of it's location beside the Court House Theatre. There is no place closer to this theatre and the cottage enjoys all the conveniences of being in historic old town, while maintaining isolation and serenity.

Great spot right in the middle of everything!
The 1812 Cottages on Regent Street are half a block from the middle of the shopping district on Queen Street, very close to all the stores, coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. We were in the Court House Cottage which has two bedrooms, each with a full-size bed. Two full baths were nice and the linens were top shelf. Private gate in the courtyard entered right into the parking lot that leads to Queen Street. Very convenient. We look forward to a return trip.
Winter stay at the cottage
We had a wonderful stay this past weekend. We came for the ice wine festival and stayed for the winter storm. The cottage has a gas fireplace and a cozy atmosphere. We loved it and will be back. Thank you John and Lorraine!
Very comfortable cottage and so conveniently located.
The cottage is extremely clean and well equipped. We have been staying there every summer for over ten years and recommend it highly.
great location in NOTL
pro's: Location- close to everything, but also quiet . Clean. Comfortable beds. Well laid out with a nice small yard to relax or eat in ( except for the skunk or skunks, which were rather bold- we also saw one on the main street in the middle of the day). Would be good for couples or a family. Parking for 2 cars.
Cons' Kitchen over all good except no freezer ( although there is a cooler into which you could put a bag of ice). We were not cooking any meals, so the lack of an oven was not problem. . One shower only ( other bathroom has a bathtub).
Perfect location. Easy walking distance to plays and restaurants
Well maintained cottage. Perfect location. Clean and comfortable. Hosts are available if needed.
Great location, convenient to everything in NOTL
Great little cottage. Responsive owner, nice theater-themed.
Niagara-on-the-Lake is the original Capital of Upper Canada from 1792 to 1797. Nestled along the shores of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, we hold the distinction of being the only municipality in Canada whose elected head holds the title of Lord Mayor.
Each year millions of people from around the world travel here to experience our Town’s unique charm and historic sites, including Fort George and Brock’s Monument; period-restored heritage homes, top-flight golf courses, breath-taking parks and gardens, as well as over 30 wineries and countless vineyards, many of which produce our world-class ice wine.
In 2012 we launched the 200th commemoration of the War of 1812. Lasting from 1812 to 1814, and was the only time any country invaded Canada. in 1814, the Town’s Bicentennial Committee will continue to host a range of historical re-enactments and special events dedicated to our role as a major battle site leading to the creation of modern-day Canada.
We hope you will enjoy our Old Town shopping district, which boasts of a number of quaint shops, boutiques and restaurants, fine hotels, spas and bed & breakfast establishments, as well as public and private art galleries, the centuries-old Court House, museums, and of course, the renowned Shaw Festival Theatre.
