About the property

"AUSTIN ST HAUS" 3/2. Historic home. IDEAL LOCATION. Quiet neighborhood

At the "Austin Street Haus", you can walk everywhere. Schlitterbahn is a short 4 blocks away. Downtown is 1 mile away. The entrance to float the Comal River and the Chute is only 1 mile away. The last public exit on the Comal River is only 1 mile away.

When you are finished playing on the river, enjoy the solitude of this charming Victorian German home that was built in the early 1900s. It is tucked away in a residential historic neighborhood. Sit on the front porch with your favorite beverage to enjoy the friendly neighborhood cat and watch the hummingbirds and other local wildlife. Dream of the days when the oxen cart and horse with buggy passed by this home on the road to Austin. Step into the living room and notice the high ceilings, hardwood floors, window transoms, and charming décor and embellishments. You are truly in a doll house. Yet you have all of the comforts of home. 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths make this a comfortable home for 6 guests. The master bedroom has a king bed as well as it's own flat screen TV. A 2nd small bedroom has a set of bunk beds. The 3rd bedroom has a king bed plus it's own bathroom and flat screen TV. The living room has a flat screen TV and a stereo/tuner. There is a separate dining area in the sun room. The kitchen comes fully furnished with utensils, dishes, pots and pans, and has a microwave, refrigerator, and gas range/oven. There is even a Keurig coffeemaker for your enjoyment. The back screened porch has a washer and dryer. The backyard has a table with umbrella and an outdoor BBQ grill for you to use.

Why Kathy Steffan chose Hill Country

We chose this property because of the two rivers - the Comal and Guadalupe, Landa Park with the streams running through it, delightful restaurants, the I 35 corridor, Texas Hill Country, Wurstfest, Brauntex Theater, Luckenback, Fredericksburg, Austin music scene, San Marcos, San Antonio Alamo and River Walk, Kerrville Folk Festival, and Schlitterbahn. There is so much to do in New Braunfels.

What makes this house unique

We love the Victorian style of the home along with the high ceilings, leaded glass windows, and transom windows. It is an easy walk to Schlitterbahn. The home is in a quiet residential block with great neighbors. We especially like the Texas hospitality.

The Pink House

  • 5 of 5

My family and I lived in this sweet little home when we first moved to Texas while we looked for a house to buy ourselves. We are so grateful we got to call The Pink House home for three months. The property manager Kathy is amazing and very accommodating. She had the house set up very nicely when we first arrived from our long journey from Colorado. It felt cozy and quickly felt like home to us. We had plenty of room with three bedrooms for our family of 4. Even though the square footage is small the three bedrooms give everyone the space and privacy they need. We were more then taken care of, we were looked out for. The Pink house will always be our first TX home.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for your very kind comments and review. Kathy is an amazing lady who always welcomes our guests with true Texas hospitality and awesome accountability. We've known of the Pink House (The Austin Street Haus) for many years and actually stayed there ourselves. We loved the property and home so much, we recently purchased it. We've made a few little adjustments here and there, while keeping the same tone and temperament--and truly appreciated your feedback. So happy you enjoyed. John and Marilyn K. (New Owners)

Super clean and super cute! Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Spotlessly clean, this cute as a button victorian is in a great location just a few blocks from Schlitterbahn. Well equipped kitchen, and very attentive manager. This manager takes her job seriously and does not miss a trick. The bedding was ample and comfortable, and the bathrooms even had a stock of a few basics in case you're forgetful. Ditto in the kitchen, where she provided some coffee and filters (no keurig here) amongst other basics. Speedy wifi and laundry. This one's a winner!

Charming and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Located in the heart of New Braunfesl this adorable pink house is right In one of one of Texas's cutest towns. We really enjoyed our stay in the pink house! It was close to NB's downtown shops, food and antiques. We even caught a show at the Historic Gruene music hall and enjoyed a coldie at the Hoity Toity a local watering hole conveniently located around the block. If it hasn't rained we omanned to float the river. Next time for sure!!!! This was our second time staying here and we would stay here again it's a perfect home away from home.

Property was awesome, roosters... not so much

  • 4 of 5

This property was perfect for what we needed. There was more than enough space for six adult women. The home is decorated adorably. It's like a little old cat lady decorated it, but it is super cute and kitschy. The owner was really great with communication. It was a really easy process. This house is very centrally located too. We spent a bunch of time in Gruene and it took less than 5 minutes to get there. The one downside to the property was that one of the neighbors behind the property had two roosters that crowed almost incessantly. I would definitely recommend staying here... just maybe bring some ear plugs :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback about the noisy rooster. Having a rooster is against the neighborhood deed restrictions. I have reported this violation to the city to handle. It will be quieter for my next guests. Kathy

All the comforts of home and a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This isn't our first stay at Austin Street Haus and it won't be our last. The house is comfortable with its German grandma feel. It is clean and stocked with all the kitchen items and plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets. The TV's and wifi allowed us to enjoy our time at the house when we weren't having fun in the town. Loved the convenience of having the washer and dryer in the back. Also, it's easy to sleep in those comfortable beds! We were a party of 5.

Comfortable Rental Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here 3 nights. The home is very comfortable and has everything you need for a family stay in New Braunfels. The owners thought of everything including plenty of towels, lotion for sunburns, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable furnishings. Our group of 6 loved it here! We would stay here again and again. Schlitterbahn is just 3 blocks straight down the street - very easy walk. Rockin' R Tube Rentals is just a short 3 mile drive and Downtown New Braunfels is also a very short drive away. We loved the quiet street the house sat on and enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the deer in the evenings. Everything was perfect and we can't wait to stay here again next year!

There are so many things to see and do in New Braunfels and the surrounding area. From your front door, you are at the entrance of Schlitterbahn waterpark or at the entrance of the Tube Chute of the Comal River after a short 4 block walk. The walk downtown is about .5 miles. While downtown be sure to visit Henne Hardware, the oldest hardware store in Texas and Naegelin's Bakery, the oldest bakery in Texas. There are also a number of unique shops, the historical Sophienburg and children's museums, taverns, and restaurants downtown. Take the children to Landa Park to ride the miniature train through the park, for a picnic, to hike through Panther Canyon, to visit the Founder's Oak that dates back to the 1700s, to swim in the springfed swimming pool, and to hear a summer evening concert at the dance slab. Visit Gruene Hall, the oldest dancehall in Texas, to listen to live music and see where legends like George Strait, Lyle Lovett, and Willie Nelson got started. While in Gruene, visit the General Store and other unique shops, music venues, and restaurants. Take the scenic drive up River Road to Canyon Lake for horseback riding, hiking, and water sports. Plan to spend a day at the San Marcos outlet stores. Natural Bridge Caverns is a short drive away for a day of spelunking. San Antonio is a short drive away to visit the Alamo, River Walk, and Seaworld. Austin is another short drive away to visit the Capitol building, 6th Street and the surrounding area to learn why it is known as the 'Live Music Capitol of the World.' New Braunfels sponsors 'Wurstfest' each year along with many other festivals. You are in the ideal location to enjoy local activities as well as those in the nearby hill country area.
