About Rachel Cosby

We enjoy spending time with our family, traveling, playing sports -- and of course, spending time at our lake house when we can!

Rachel Cosby purchased this house in 2010

Why Rachel Cosby chose Texas

We have friends that live down the street, which introduced us to Eagle Mountain and idea of buying a lake house. I like the calmness of the north end, which is great for sking/wakeboarding and tubing for the younger kids. We also had the opportunity to take an older home that had great bones and turn it into something that we could make a great home for entertaining that our big family could enjoy. It's what has brought us even closer together over the last few years. We've had some many good memories in this house!

What makes this house unique

We say great opportunity with this house, to convert an old garage into a guest house and to create better entertaining space outdoors and indoors. We did as much for everyone else as we did for ourselves. It makes us happy when others are having fun.

Clean, spacious, and great location for our group.

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of high school students serving at Camp Summit in a Paradise, TX. This lake house was perfect for us. 5 guys stayed in the guest house and 7 girls stayed in the main house. There was plenty of space for all of us and it was very clean. We'd definitely come back!

We came for a family reunion and already want to come back! The pictures do not do this home justice! The set up of the home was perfect-had a great game area and deck area. It was great having a separate house for little ones to sleep in. Clean and well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds.

Wonderful Family Fun Lake Weekend!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great experience and really enjoyed our stay. We used the kayaks and brought our boat to the dock. There was no paddle boat though. Enjoyed the fire pit and roasted marshmallows at night. They have 2 refrigerators so there was plenty of room for all our food. Neighbors were nice. It's a little far from the nearest marina but we found a dirt road boat ramp nearby to get the boat in the water.

Clean. Everything worked. Extras in kitchen as in blender crock pot lg bowls knives utensils!!! Plenty towels sheets comfy beds. We had a great time. I will say the drive in from 730 is a bit non pleasing to the eye but the houses around this house are great! I'd definitely come again!

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

House overall is very nice and a beautiful back yard. I was very disappointed that home was not as advertised. We had to mop kitchen and game room because floors were extremely sticky. Game room was great but pool sticks were missing felt tips and one stick was completely broken. We had to go buy super glu to put felt tips on in order to use pool table. Master bathroom lights were out as well. We actual had to buy a light bulb in order too see in there. The kitchen light above table was absolutely disgusting when light was turned on bowl of light cover had tons of dead bugs in it. Guest house had no electricity tried calling both owners contact information left messages on both numbers and did not hear anything back until the day after we left. The patio table had used cigars still on it there was cobwebs all over patio area. We had to clean patio by hosing off area in order to use it. There is a grill that is advertised but no propane was provided only 5 empty tanks laying around. So once again we had to go buy propane in order to grill outside. The grill looked like it had never been clean and parts of grill were laying on the ground. Another major issue was there was still trash in outside containers that obviously hadn't been dumped, so we only could place a couple of trash bags in there and had to ask neighbors if we could use their trash cans which was a total inconvenience to them and us. I feel with the large amount of money that was spent, my family and I should have been able to walk right in house and not had to worry about a thing. But instead we had to spend more money (around $30) which we shouldn't have too. Like I said, I did hear back from owner the day after leaving and I let her know all the issues and never got a response back. All in all beautiful property with exception of cobwebs, dead bugs and unusable equipment.

Owner's Response: I deeply regret there were some issues with the condition of the house. We addressed all the issues mentioned once we became aware of the situation, including professionally washing the floors, purchasing a new grill, etc. We did everything we could to make things right for this guest, including a partial refund. We ask guests to also use text or the HomeAway/VRBO system in addition to calling for any questions or concerns upon arrival so we can address them immediately and ensure a more enjoyable stay.
