Tom is an organic farmer and soil scientist, and Alison is an acupuncturist and biologist. They share a passion for sustainable living, and enjoy the homesteading life-style. They previously lived in Tucson and England, and have been in Flagstaff for the past 11 years.
Alison and Tom purchased this house in 2007
We chose this property because of it's beautiful location - bordering on thousands of acres of National Forest, with outstanding views of the San Francisco Peaks. It is also a short drive to Flagstaff, with all its cultural events, restaurants, etc.
We had a blast staying here. It so quiet, so comfortable with absolutely everything you need and more. The owners are just awesome!
We had a great time during our stay in Flagstaff. The kids and I were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the home and surroundings were. We were close enough to town to visit the college, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon. The evening thunderstorms were beautiful, and the stars were amazing as well. We were not around much, but when we were we enjoyed hiking the trails behind the house. A return is definitely in our future.
We enjoyed this lovely place for 6 wonderful nights. The home is exactly as advertised. It sits about 10 minutes outside of downtown Flagstaff in a very quiet area. The stars at night were phenomenal. The rooms were comfortable. The loft isn't for tall people though! It was nice being able to cook a few meals instead of always going out to eat. We didn't spend too much time there during the day as we were out visiting the sites; Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Lowell. Observatory, Sunset Crater, Wutapki National Monument, and even Sedona. There are still things ewe didn't get to visit, next time I guess! Tom was very friendly, he even offered us fresh eggs and produce!
This relaxing retreat, a short drive from downtown, is a work of love that will bring a smile to your face and a sense of adventure to you and your family. Tom and Alison are great to deal with, quiet, welcoming and very low key.
The home is nestled between the edge of a small community and a national forest delivering hiking and adventure for those who are so inclined.
We took a day trip to the Grand Canyon, Bearizona, sunset crater volcano national monument and Wupatki National Monument, all were fun for the family.
I hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did. If you choose to stay, go say hi to Tom in the garden, he won’t bother you… but if you go talk to him you will profit from his easy demeanor and open spirit.
Superb walks in the national forest bordering the property, and also into Lockett Meadows and the Inner Basin of the San Francisco Peaks. Just a few minutes drive to Wupatki National Monument, Sunset Crater and Walnut Canyon. About a 1-hour drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and also to Sedona.
