About the property

Indian Pass house description

“Indian Pastime” is a beautiful getaway located in Indian Pass Beach, one of the last “Old Florida” seaside neighborhoods. A short three minute walk to a pristine beach offers shelling, surf fishing, and just plain chilling out. Dolphin may be seen cruising the coast along with many species of shore birds including pelicans, seagulls, skimmers, sandpipers and others.

Driving on the beach is allowed by obtaining a permit from the offices of Gulf County in nearby Port St. Joe. Fires on the beach are also allowed. Sunrises and sunsets are quite spectacular. The neighborhood is great for golf carts and biking. Boating is easily accessed from the boat ramp less than a mile away, so load up the boat and come on. Just across the boat ramp you’ll find St. Vincent Island, a 12,000 acre uninhabited national wildlife refuge. You can get to the island by boat, canoe, kayak, or the local shuttle service. St. Joseph Peninsular State Park, voted top beach in America in 2002 and always in the top 10, is also just minutes away.

The historic “Indian Pass Raw Bar” is just around the corner along with many local restaurants offering world class seafood. Shopping, art galleries, museums, entertainment and more are available in nearby Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Come experience the peace and quiet of “Old Florida’s” forgotten coast.

Our house is ground level with two bedrooms, one bath, a den and laundry room with washer and dryer. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed, TV and VCR, bedroom 2 has a double bed and TV and the den has a trundle bed that makes into either two twins or a king with TV and VCR. The living room has a TV, DVD player and stereo/CD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, refrigerator with ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot and toaster.

Outside the kitchen door is a large wrap around deck and patio overlooking a beautiful backyard with a fire pit, bench seating and a fish cleaning station. The back yard is totally fenced and dog friendly. There’s also a doggie door so Fido can come and go as he pleases. The over sized driveway has plenty of room for your boat, rv or golf cart.

A wonderful experience!

We came for a vacation around Memorial Day weekend and didn't want to leave! The house is very nice- clean, cozy, and comfortable. The owners are hospitable and easy to communicate with. It's a perfect option for traveling with pets; our dogs loved the fenced-in backyard! It was our first time to the area and we can't wait to come back (and rent this property again.) A+ :)

Couldn't be better!

We loved the place! It is more spacious than it might appear, with a nice open floor plan. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay pleasant and lacking nothing. It has a great "home away from home" feel. The location is great with a short walk to the beach and a nice quiet location off the main road. It's about midway between Port St. Joe and Apalachicola; both great little towns to visit for restaurants and fishing. We hope to rent it again sometime soon.

An absolute paradise...

We had an exquisite vacation experience at Indian Pastime. The accommodations were excellent. From the spacious layout to the most comfortable beds we were very pleased with our stay. The property is completely fenced in the private back yard allowing our black lab to roam and explore.

The short walk to the beach gave us a chance to take in the scenic surrounding. The location is perfect! Saint Vincent island is clearly visible just beyond Indian Pass. The beach is right there at the pass. We did some shell collecting and treasure hunting then got down to some serious fishing. We caught red fish, trout, whiting, flounder and the largest mutton snapper I've ever seen right from the beach. What a great time we had!

Had a great time!

What a nice place to stay. Very comfortable, clean, and well laid out. If you like to walk on beautiful unspoiled beaches, view the wildlife, and enjoy not being in crowds....this is the place for you. It's perfect for a small family. We found the house to be nicer than the photos. The yard is large with lots of lush greenery. Our dogs just loved it. We would return to this house again and recommend it to others. Although the beds were acceptable, they could use an upgrade.

Excellent Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I grew up in the Gulf County area and have always loved the laid-back old-Florida feel of Indian Pass. Indian Pastime allowed me to relive old memories and make new ones with my children and grandchildren. The house met all our requirements, from the pet-friendly doggie door to the excellent CD collection. We took our kayaks and found several excellent launching locations within a fifteen minute drive. The paddle over to St. Vincent Island was exciting as we saw a sea turtle along the way. Having a fenced back yard to store the boats was an added benefit. Looking forward to returning for a second visit.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. I too grew up in "Old Florida", but down south. The place sure does bring back great memories of my youth. Look forward to your return. Thanks, Buster

Great House! Great Location! Dog Friendly!

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to relax! We really enjoyed our recent stay at Indian Pastime. The house was clean and came with all the amenities you could ever need (and then some!). The house also felt open and airy but still offered a lot of privacy, both inside and out. The back deck/patio area was really nice and bordered by privacy walls on either side, which is great since there are neighbors on both sides. There were also lots of cool palm trees and ferns in the backyard that also contributed to the "secluded" feeling of the property. This is also an extremely dog-friendly property with a fully fenced in back yard (!)and doggie door (for smaller dogs).

Indian Pass Beach is also dog friendly but you'll rarely see other dogs (or people for that matter) while on the beach...which is great! We went out to the beach on a beautiful Saturday in June and couldn't have seen more than a dozen people the entire time. This is really a great beach for those who like to be out in nature without having to be stacked on top of other people in order to enjoy it.

The owners of Indian Pastime were also very helpful and friendly, which is definitely a plus when many rental properties no longer provide that level of personal attention. I would definitely recommend this beach house to anyone looking for a quite location that's very close (about a 3 minute walk) to the beach... and particularly to dog lovers!
