Hello! Thanks for looking at the Mountaincrest Retreat, my pride and joy! After leaving my 8 year career as a mechanical engineer in the medical products industry in the spring of 2011, I took on the monumental task of renovating my home in the hopes of creating Flagstaff's best vacation property. It turned out to be a huge success, and a few years later I purchased the Mountaincrest Retreat to help me share Flagstaff with even more people. I love that I'm able to share my properties with so many people and help my guests have the perfect vacation. I can't think of a better job to have!

When I'm not booking stays or meeting my guests as they arrive, I spend as much of my time as I can outdoors! I grew up on the coast of Maine where I learned to appreciate nature's beauty, and nowhere is better than Flagstaff to experience it. I love to mountain bike, hike, camp, and most of all ski/snowboard! There isn't a season I don't love here in Flagstaff, and I always look forward to the change in weather as that means that I get to change activities along with it!

Why chose Canyon Country & Northeast

Flagstaff is a wonderful town with so many things to see and do, it is a natural playground for any outdoor enthusiast. There is also so much history here, with all of the Rt 66 attractions, and ancient native american sites. I think Flagstaff has the best scenery, friendliest atmosphere, and healthiest lifestyle of anyplace I've lived...what more could you ask for?

What makes this cabin unique

I absolutely love staying at the Mountaincrest Retreat for so many reasons. I love the peace and quiet that the neighborhood offers, and think there is nothing better than sitting on the couch with a fire burning in the fireplace watching the snow come down outside.

I love being so close to everything, yet having the serenity that the house offers. It is wonderful spending an evening in Flagstaff's bustling downtown and within minutes coming home to complete peace and quiet.

Waking up in the morning and riding my bike to the Campbell Mesa trail head without ever having to get in a car is my favorite way to start the day. The trails are beautiful, and there is so much wildlife to see. The views overlooking Walnut Canyon are incredible, with elk, deer, and birds along the way.

Great Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved this rental. We couldn't believe how spacious it was. I fell in love with the kitchen as soon as I walked in the front door. I'm glad we picked this location for our last minute honeymoon getaway. We hope to visit again with family!

Reviewer Comments:

Definitely pleased with the location of this home and the amenities that were provided. Its close proximity to Oak Creek Canyon and national parks such as Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest made it an ideal location. The reason we would not rent/recommend this property is the steep driveway. We had to park on the street and walk up the steep slope to enter the home. Scraped car/van bottoms. Ouch! Otherwise we had a pleasant stay!

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you loved the home and had a great time in Northern Arizona! This lovely home does sit on a hill so the driveway is steep, but entering at an angle on the shallow side of the turnaround driveway is the way to go to avoid scraping! Once up by the garage there is plenty of room to park and even turn around out of the garage to go back out the ideal side of the driveway. We even find that compact cars don't scrape when entering this way! We do appreciate your stay and hope you'll consider this or one of our other lovely homes for your next visit to Northern Arizona!

Very enjoyable. Weather was very hot the first few days, we bought several floor fans to make it more bearable. House was in a more heavily populated area then we expected but was very nice.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your stay! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the home. Unfortunately your visit was during one of the hottest periods in Flagstaff including some record breaking high temps. This home is located in a wonderful Country Club setting and while it's a neighborhood we think that most guests will find the space between homes to be very enjoyable. Thanks again for your stay and I hope you'll consider us for a wonderful fall visit to enjoy cooler temps and changing colors here in the mountains of Northern Arizona!

Luxury home!

  • 5 of 5

The pros are that the property has lots of luxuries. Beautiful king size beds and very comfortable. Everything you need is provided....paper towels, toilet paper, body wash and shampoo in each bath, laundry detergent, coffee, some snacks and chocolate on your pillow on arrival! We have rented homes for several trips and winter getaways but never had these things furnished.

The cons are that the driveway is very steep and a little tricky getting in garage. Also, the jetted tub didn't work. But,overall the pros outweigh the cons.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your stay and lovely review! We work hard to make our homes the best vacation homes in Flagstaff so we are thrilled that you noticed all of the nice touches. We were able to have the jetted tub fixed after your stay so it is working great again, I apologize that it wasn't working perfect during your visit. Thanks again for your stay and visit us again for your next trip to Northern Arizona!

Reviewer Comments:

We rented this house as a group for a youth soccer tournament our kids were attending in Flagstaff. The house is absolutely gorgeous and very spacious. Everyone loved the house!! The adults had ample room for themselves and to mingle while the kids had their own bunk bed room with TV. There were plenty of bathrooms to go around. Beds and showers were fantastic. The kitchen and seating areas were plenty big enough to accommodate our group for dining. The back patio was also very handy as we grilled one evening. If you're lucky you may even be greeted by some deer. On a couple mornings and evenings there were a handful of deer walking through, eating, or napping right outside the patio area. The kids thought that was pretty cool as being from Phoenix you don't see that often (ever really)! The only thing worth noting is the driveway. It is a pretty steep incline up the driveway, quite narrow, and there's not a lot of room once you get up there to maneuver around. The driveway goes through to the other side and comes back out to the street, a U shape. We had a few different sized vehicles (large truck, small SUV, car) and utilized the garage during our stay (which helped). One person had a small car that would bottom out when coming down the driveway so eventually they opted to park on the street. Just worth noting if you have a small, low to the ground car. Overall though I would definitely recommend staying here and if we get the chance to stay again, we will!! Thank so much for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your stay and for the 5 star review! It sounds like you enjoyed all the amazing things about this beautiful home! Being able to see the deer while sitting on the back deck is one of the greatest things about living in this wonderful mountain community. We are thrilled you enjoyed your time in Flagstaff and hope to host you again for your next soccer tournament in Flagstaff!
