About Jud Ready
Jud Ready purchased this Cottage in 1949
Why Jud Ready chose Newport
This was originally an officers quarters for the Army Air Corps in Goldsboro during WW2. My Great Uncle Jimmy moved it here by barge and truck in the late 1940s. Passed down through my family through the years.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
This property was perfect for our family! The view overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway was outstanding. The covered porch was perfect for my mom to sit and read while enjoying the view.
We have rented several houses over the years, and this is probably the most well stocked kitchen we have used. There are plenty of utensils and pots/pans for every kind of meal.
Our teenage boys loved the hammocks at the end of the dock, even sleeping out there part of one night (until they got too cold)! They also caught several small fish from the dock.
We brought our boat and had plenty of room to turn it around and wash it as needed. We also brought our crab pots and caught enough crab for a feast one night!
Would definitely rent again!
Lovely cottage perfect for fishing.

great property in a great location. absolutely charming cottage. be advised though that if you are tall the shower in the "master" bathroom is very small and very difficult to shower in. Overall though not a big deal as there is another full size shower on the other side of the cottage. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the water and views look no further.
Everything was good
When do I receive my damage deposit refund ?
Assuming no damage, I believe VRBO policy is 10 days
We enjoyed our short stay at A Cottage With a View. Everything was great. We look forward to staying there again.
A Cottage with a View is a former WW2 officers quarters moved from what is now Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC in the late 1940s. Originally a 2BR fishing cottage, Uncle Jimmy added "Miss Minnie's Room" in the 'early 1960s. It was updated with new appliances and ceilings in early 2000s. Original floors, "open cornered" fireplace and knotty pine paneling were retained.
Directly @ Flashing Green Marker#17 on Bogue Sound along the Southern Outer Banks (SOBX) of North Carolina. This would be a great stop for ICW Cruisers wanting to stop over for a couple nights northbound or southbound. The dock has a side berth with ~4' draft @ MLW (See chart 11541 in pix). Protected boat basin too with similar draft. Neighborhood is called "HoHo Village" (seriously)...for the 2 Hodge brothers, who developed it in late 1940s.
Golf cart rental+delivery @ ~$20/day. Boat Rental too. Taxi, uber, lyft, etc. Some more info on fridge in cottage. Easy walking distance (1/4 mile) to grocery store, Dollar General and a quickie mart.
