About Cheryl Long
We are a retired couple who live in Missouri who love the outdoors, golf, beach, beautiful trees and warm weather of South Carolina. We have been coming to Hilton Head island for over 25 years, and prefer staying in Palmetto Dunes. It is a lovely plantation with lots to do and great beaches, shops and entertainment.
Cheryl Long purchased this Villa in 2013
Why Cheryl Long chose Hilton Head Island
This is our second home and we spend time there off and on all year to insure it remains in great shape and meets our standards. It is very attractive and comfortable and the tennis courts and pools are less than two minutes across a private parking lot from our front door! Inverness Village is further back into Palmetto Dunes plantation than most areas and is much quieter and private.
What makes this Villa unique
We love its location on the Fazio Golf Course, on the 12th hole and it has expansive golf views. It is mid-island which means you can get most places of interest in a short drive!

Very nice and comfortable town home in a beautiful section of Palmetto Dunes.
The home was clean and comfortable especially the reclining armchair in front of the TV. The kitchen was smaller than it looks in pictures but well stocked with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc, and clean. The upstairs master bedroom is large and the king bed is very comfortable, we slept like babies. The downstairs bedroom was very comfortable as well. Both bathrooms were very clean. There were 4 adults and 2 small dogs, we all enjoyed our stay, although brief because of hurricane Irma. We checked in Tues 9/5, but had to leave on Friday, 9/8, because there was a mandatory evacuation on Saturday, 9/9. We would stay again, but maybe not in hurricane season, although we've been coming to Hilton Head for 15 years and this is the first time our vacation was cut short. Thank you Cheryl for providing a nice, clean comfortable home for our vacation.
Bob, thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful and complimentary review of our home. I am so glad you had a good time even though Hurricane Irma cut your trip short. It is important to us that our guests have a comfortable and fun stay in a clean environment! We will be sure to provide a partial refund for you due to your early evacuation of our home and are glad that you made it home safe. Please think of us when you plan your next trip to Hilton Head! Cheryl
Stay at Hilton Head
Place was wonderful. Plenty of everything needed. Would definitely recommend.
Bathroom towels, bed linens, and a few basics were provided which were much appreciated. The golf course view was pleasant. The hose by the front door was great for washing sand off toys and shoes.
This townhouse was clean on the surface. Under the couch and beds, between the beds and walls, and the floors of the laundry closet were very dusty with trash and items left behind from previous guests. The starter pack of tp, paper towels, and soaps were not good quality. In general the house felt like it had hand-me-down appliances, kitchen tools and accessories, and vacuum. Not all pots had lids which made cooking a challenge. The dryer and dishwasher are so loud they each prohibit conversation on their own. The dryer required a minimum of 90 min to dry a small load.
One day we had no water for over 3 hours with no notice or known reason. The rental company discovered water would be off for an hour for sprinkler repairs. They did not return my follow-up call after nearly 2 hours. After investigating further on my own I learned homeowners had been forewarned about the outage. We easily could have planned our day around the outage but instead were left waiting until we could shower, prepare meals, etc before we could leave the house.
Overall the house makes a good first impression but it doesn’t last.
To note: No spices, oils, sugar, flour, charcoal, are provided. The small bedroom with the bunk beds does not have a window.
Jessica, I previously apologized for the miscommunication about the lengthy neighborhood water repair. Be aware that neither we nor the property management team could predict the length of the repair nor do anything about it.
We have never before had complaints about the starter supplies provied by the cleaners but I will pass along your comments. They are of compareable quality to other cleaners that the property management team has contracted with, and are meant to simply prevent guests from having to make a store trip upon arrival.
The cleanliness ofour condo is also relying on the cleaning company. Please note that I have REFUNDED your entire cleaning fee out of my own pocket.
We are proud of the kitchenware that we have available, and were surprised by comments that cooking was a challenge for you. We are here now and 4 out of 5 saucepans have lids, as well as two lidded large pasta pots and the new 3 Qt. T-Fal dutch oven I bought in February. There are assorted size skillets as well which can use the lids from other pans, if needed.
The only appliance with issues, in our opinion, was one drawer that functioned but was broken on the refrigerator. We are having new stainless steel frig, stove and dishwasher delivered tomorrow as part of our remodel. The stove was not very old at all, but we are updating the look. The laundry appliances are not very old and the dryer is no problem when loaded reasonably full. The washer does have a really large tub so it helps to divide the dryer load sometimes.
The third half bedroom indeed does not have a window, as evidenced by the pictures available on the website. This has not been a problem before, as parents like the convenience of having children directly across the hall. I am sorry if this bothered your family.
Last but not least, we live 17 hours away so we cannot restock cooking supplies. We have tried leaving salt, pepper, spices and oils in the unit but guests will use or remove them and we have no way to restock in a timely manner. I know you said this was the case one place you stayed; they may live nearby or have different arrangements with their management company. I did let you know in advance so you could bring those things if you needed them immediately.
I hope that the cleaning fee refund clearly indicates that we regret that your expectations weren't met and that you did enjoy your vacation here at Hilton Head.
Loved this villa!
We had a great time at this villa overlooking the 12th green. It was fun to watch the golfers during the day and go out “after hours” to practice our own putting. The villa was perfect for us - very clean, spacious master bedroom/closet/bathroom upstairs, updated thermostat to control heat/ac, comfortable living spaces downstairs. We especially appreciated being able to bring our well-behaved dog on this trip. The villa location at the end of the neighborhood made it very quiet - no traffic. Walked to the beach almost every day.
Thanks, Pat for taking the time to respond to the review request. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you return next winter!
Nice place but the weather was bad. It was kind of raining everyday!!!!
Property is clean and well kept but too small for party of six.
We sincerely hope you enjoyed your stay despite the rainy weather. The property does have 2 1/2 bedrooms and a sleeper sofa, which normally accommodates 6 people nicely and was well described in our listing photos and descriptions. We regret that your particular rooming needs didn't fit you as well as you had hoped. Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. Cheryl
Wonderful Week – Highly Recommend!
We have stayed in Palmetto Dunes several times and I must say we loved this unit! According to our seven-year-old twins, this unit was “the best place ever!” They thought the room with bunkbeds and its own air conditioner was great. Anyone with small children should consider staying here, beach is a short drive, pool is in walking distance. We hope to be able to return and stay again next year.
Chris, we are so glad that your family had a wonderful vacation at our home. It sounds like you availed yourself of many of the great opportunities for fun at Hilton Head. Many people comment on the perfect mid-island location which is so convenient to everything. Hope to have you as our guests again and thank you for taking the time to write a thoughtful review! Cheryl
Inverness Village is an attractive, well maintained neighborhood mid-island in Palmetto Dunes Plantation. It's one mile from the beach and we have a swimming pool, tennis courts (free up to 2 hours per day), kayak entry points and beautiful landscaping. All units are along the Fazio Golf Course and not overcrowded even in the summer.
