Tom is a whale/wildlife biologist and runs a whale-watching business (since 1986) approximately 90 minutes from this house.

Tom Goodwin purchased this cottage in 2007
Escape from the city to your oceanfront home away from home. Imagine the ocean breeze coming in your open windows at night as the sound of the waves lull you to sleep. Waking to the chirping of birds and looking for seals in the early morning hours. The rock beach is perfect for beachcombing looking for that interestingly shaped piece of drift wood, sea glass or if you lucky you find a tidal pool filled with small sea creatures waiting for the tide to come back in.
Whether you are looking to explore Nova Scotia or just looking for a quiet place to get away from it all, Fundy Escape Cottage is your perfect 'home base'.
Just a short 15-20 minute drive is the historic town of Annapolis Royal where you can enjoy everything from historic forts and sites, the Saturday Farmer's Market or live theatre.
About 1/2 hr farther South is the town of Digby famous for it's Digby Scallops and local lobster.
While in the area you must, of course, not miss the opportunity to go Whale Watching. The Digby Neck and Islands are world famous for some of the best whale watching in Canada, if not the world!
For those interested in exploring further a field you can visit the beautiful towns of Lunenburg and Mahone Bay on the South Shore. Two historic fishing towns with great shopping, antiques and seafood of course.
If hiking is your thing then you must check out Delap's Cove Wilderness trail, Cape Split and Kejimkujik National Park, just to name a few of the amazing hikes all within a couple of hours of the cottage.
The sunsets as you sit on the back deck or by the beach in the adirondack chairs are stunning. Each evening ends in a symphony of colors, with no two evenings ending with the same light. A photographers dream!
We had an awesome week! The property amd home were everything they said about it and more!! The setting is awesome! We enjoyed playing games on the lawn, having beachfires, sitting on the deck for meals and all the amenities their home provided! They even left us a lovely welcome basket!
It was a great location for our dog as well.
We enjoyed lots of local seafood, trips to the market, swimming and fishing in various lakes and day trips to Digby and the National Park among many things we did.
Thanks so much for sharing your home with us.
We will return!
My wife and I had a fantastic time there. Our only complaint was that we couldn't spend the rest of the summer at this wonderful location. Watching the sun sets at the ocean was incredible. For my wife visiting Nova Scotia for the first time she was blown away by the view and tranquil atmosphere. Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves was an added bonus. Having lived in the province, prior to moving "west", I was equally blown away and it surpassed all expectations. A huge thank you to the Goodwins for making this cottage available and making our trip east all the more amazing.
We enjoyed the cottage . The view was great. Everyday we watched the fish, lobster and scallop boats working.
Amazing tides, pretty much no bugs, weather great and Tom and Penny were always helpful .
We have nothing but positive words to describe our experience June 27-July 4th. We would come back again...for sure.
