The more adventurous can enjoy water skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing and other water sports on one of the cleanest lakes in America. There are also many islands on Lake George available for overnight camping and if you enjoy hiking, the trail to the summit of Black Mountain is just up the road.

Built with an Adirondack theme, the home's open floor plan consists of cedar, rustic oak and douglas fir accents throughout for a very warm and cozy feel. The 'wall of glass' in our great room and huge wraparound deck provide sweeping 180+ degree views of the Lake. There is a new state-of-the-art kitchen and outdoor grill for all your cooking needs. The home features 2 master suites with full baths, one bedroom with a walkout roof deck and 2 bunk rooms. There is also a full, finished basement with rustic barn wood throughout that features a full bar, card table, and a lounge area with a plasma TV and a gas fireplace.

Fantastic Property

  • 5 of 5

Solitude is a great house with all the amenities (large great room, multiple dining tables, covered and screened in porch, downstairs game room and bar) you could need to weather a rainy day and some. However, you will want to spend as much of your time outside as possible. The property is more perfect than pictures convey with incredibly scenic westerly views of the lake that can be taken in from the multiple house decks, the boat dock deck and the fire pit area. The lawn and grounds are beautifully maintained to complement the house and provides ample space for various lawn games (enjoy the grass barefoot for added enjoyment). The boat dock was large and deep enough to easily fit our 10 person pontoon boat. It also provides easy access to the crystal clear lake for a swim, paddle board, kayak, canoe, or row boat launch. Additionally, the deck on the boat dock is a perfect place to read a book or enjoy an evening drink to catch the sunset. Fishing off of the point in the morning or evening provided quick entertainment as well with both perch and small mouth bass found in abundance. I would enthusiastically recommend Solitude to anyone, particularly to those with large families and a love of lake life and the outdoors in general (the trail head to Black Mountain is less than 3 miles from the house). Finally, I would add that the owners were nice, engaging and helpful during the planning stages (i.e. boat rental) and while we were at the house, helping to make it a perfect vacation all around.

Incredible house and beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

We brought our two families for our summer vacation, including our 7 teenagers. It was a perfect house to keep everyone busy with water sports (boating, kayaking, paddelboarding) and an awesome roof top deck to relax and read. The owners, Mike & Monique were great and gave us lots of tips on places to go and things to do. The house was very well equipped and comfortable. Thank you!

Another fantastic experience at this beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year renting Solitude. The home is absolutely beautiful and provides a cozy but spacious place for adults and kids. My teenage boys love the basement to hang out at night. The adults enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and deck. We enjoyed the canoe and fishing off the dock. Most days were spent on our boat and enjoying Bolton Landing for lunch. Lake George is a special place and we will definitely be back!

An absolutely stunning home with a spectacular view of Lake George and its mountains and islands. It had all the comfort and convenience one could want in a home along with style and beauty. Six wonderful bedrooms, two with spacious private baths. Beautiful detailing throughout. From the boathouse deck, garden swing, firepit area, spacious decks and balcony, special areas throughout inside and out offered memorable experiences for all. Gorgeous great room on main level, and a family room in lower level that provided family fun for all with games -skee ball a favorite- and a rustic bar area that complimented the view perfectly. The open floor plan on main level has a well equipped kitchen that allows those Cooking to still be part of the family conversations, along with a breakfast nook and ample storage. Speakers throughout the main level were a nice feature. The swim platform was a favorite with the younger family members, while senior family members who had mobility issues were still able to enjoy this amazing scenery from the comfort of the decks. The owners were terrific from start to finish, providing helpful suggestions regarding boat rentals as well as features of the house. Would recommend this house to anyone looking to have not just a place to stay but an experience that you will always remember.

A Vacation to Remember

  • 5 of 5

Having grown up at the Jersey Shore, where my parents live, we thought we would try something different for my father’s 80th birthday. We had heard great things about Lake George so we set our sights on finding the ideal place to get away from the world of cell phones etc, a quiet place, a place to slow down and relax, a place to enjoy one another’s company and take in all the lake had to offer. Well we found it in Solitude. We looked everywhere and nothing compared. Solitude jumped out at us as the perfect place. We were impressed from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. There were 10 of us (four teenagers and six adults). The property was spectacular in every way. The home was clean and beautifully decorated with plenty of space. The grounds, from the landscaping to the fire pit to the boathouse were beautifully designed and functional. The views of the lake are amazing. There was so much to do from sitting around the fire pit at night singing songs and watching a meteor shower or two, to playing badminton in the backyard, to tubing in the lake, to playing poker in the basement bar, to fishing right off the shore or off the boat (we recommend renting a boat). The fishing was fantastic. The kids couldn’t get enough fishing and there were plenty of fishing contests. The lake was incredibly clear and every morning I enjoyed a nice swim out to the nearby island and back as my daughter kayaked next to me. The large wrap around deck was perfect for evening barbeques and cocktails and the deck on top of the boat dock was also a great place to hang out in the evenings and mornings to take in the view. The owners take great pride in their home and it shows in every way. They met us when we arrived and showed us around to make sure that we were comfortable and they met us when we left to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. We have been on many extended family vacations and this was one of the best!!

We are looking forward to returning to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. Many wonderful memories. A great place to get away, relax and have fun!

Solitude and quiet right on the shore of Lake George. Fantastic property with ample room for an extended family. Enjoyed the huge deck, screen porch, patio for sunning, fire pit, sunset benches, water toys and raft, deluxe grill, and great kitchen. Plenty of space to be alone if you choose. We are a family of swimmers, ages 12 to 93, and Lake George is crystal clear water to enjoy swimming in, being on, and looking at from Solitude.

'...without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw.......' Thomas Jefferson on Lake George in 1791.

Also known as the 'Queen of American Lakes', Lake George is a spring-fed glacial lake with crystal clear waters bordered by steep Adirondack mountainsides. Northern Lake George had the highest clarity reading of 98 lakes surveyed in the Adirondacks by the New York State Federation of Lake Associations in 2011.

Located half way up the eastern shoreline, Huletts Landing is simply the best kept secret on Lake George. This quaint little hamlet has its own marina and boat launch, public beach, tennis courts, par 3 golf course, post office, ice cream shop and local bar/watering hole. All within walking distance.

There are also an abundance of activities in the surrounding areas within a short drive. In the summer, there are amusement parks such as Six Flags Great Escape, Waterslide World water park, Adirondack Extreme Treetop Adventure park and several other attractions such as go-carts and mini-golf. Near historic Lake George Village, there are several cruise ships offering daily trips on the water and a different perspective of the Lake. And if you like the horses, the Saratoga Thoroughbred and Harness tracks are all within a short driving distance.

In the winter, you can check out the events at the Lake George Winter Carnival. If snowmobiling is your thing, there are snowmobile trails from here to Canada. Rather go skiing or snowboarding? You are roughly an hour's drive away from the Gore, Killington and Okemo ski resorts.
