Quiet Summer Home on Lake Anasagunticook (Canton Lake)

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 5-6)

Enjoy waking each morning to the sun reflecting through the windows dancing on your ceiling. As you make your way out onto the dock at the waterfront with your breakfast, the warmth of the sun brings on a smile. Looking out over the water on this quiet morning, you see the loons, kingfishers, and blue herons also enjoying the morning and breakfast.

The day brings swimming, canoe rides, and quiet relaxation. A lunch on the deck, lounging in the sun, or a hike or bike ride on nearby dirt roads. A gas grill for those evening barbecues and sitting around the camp fire telling stories and cooking marshmallows.

This home includes 100 feet of shoreline frontage with a dock, a diving float, and a swimming area that is shallow for youngsters. The lake has a public landing for launching your boat, or feel free the use of the canoe which is included.

The home has an open kitchen, dining and living room, and full bathroom on the first floor. There are two bedrooms and a half bath upstairs. There is also a full basement to store gear.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is the first year we have rented our summer home so unfortunately we do not have any previous years guests comments. My family has spent the last years enjoying weeks or weekends at this Canton Lake home...we love it. It is new, clean, comfortable, quiet, and fun! Come and enjoy an awesome week on the quiet Maine lake in Canton.

Revisiting Childhood Family Vacation at Lake Anasagunticook

  • 5 of 5

It seems like it was back in 1965. Our expectations from years past were pleasantly met. The cottage was perfect for our sisters week. We hiked, and canoed and swam as we did when we were children. I would recommend the cottage to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and peace and quiet of the Maine countryside and the lake. We look forward to going back next year and will continue to do so for a very long time. It was truly the perfect vacation! Three Sisters From Long Island, New York

You know you are having a great week when you forget what day it is!

This is out third year at the cottage and it was just as fun this year as those in the past. My boys ages 9 and 11 love to swim, snorkle, tube and kayak. They also enjoy the many small mouth bass they are able to catch. The cottage is fabulous so clean and we love that there is no TV. We watch a few DVDs over the week but mostly it is all family time. Fires in the fire pit and board games. Really fun. We plan on being back for our 4th year next year. A truely fantastic place.

Owner's Response: Many of the families return year after year. We are pleased that they enjoy the lake and cottage. Vacation is all about getting away from the busy electronic age we live in and enjoy simple times with the family.

The Poirier cabin is lovely and well-cared for. Reading in the hammock, kayaking, camp fire, cooking, exploring, travelling to breathtaking swimming holes, an easy ride to Old Orchard Beach, a jaunt out west and north. We arrived with excitement, and left with a peaceful hum.

Serene, tranquil, peaceful and restful vacation locale

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this cozy and secluded cottage was by far our favorite vacation yet. We were looking for a truly relaxing vacation experience with our two young boys and we found it here! We all loved the dock, the fishing, the canoe and the beauty that the lake has to offer. We were close enough to other things that we could take a day trip if we wanted- but we found that just staying at the cottage was all we really needed. It provided the true family time we needed to reconnect and enjoy the slow paced life we so desire. Thank youf for opening your piece of heaven to us! We will be back!

Owner's Response: We are so happy you were able to spend a week enjoying our cottage, the quiet, nature and the lake here in Maine. The cottage is just right for a family to enjoy the adventures of the day on the lake then relax the evening inside a cozy cottage. It is also close to the mountians for a quick day trip, and leaf peeping in the fall. A great location for childern to play and learn about nature. We welcome you back next year as many of our renters return often.

My wife and I had a great time at the cabin. It has everything that one could ask for in a summer retreat. We spent mornings on the dock reading, afternoons using the sandy beach across the lake (accessible by canoe), and evenings pulling in huge small mouth bass. I'd recommend this property to anyone and we can't wait for our next stay.
