Near the very tip of eastern PEI is the Elmira Railway Museum. Learn all about our rail system that is now trails across the island. These trails were put in after all the railway ties were taken up and the Confederation Trail was made.
The island is famous for its seafood. Not far from the house you will find the long red sand beaches where you can dig your own clams. The flats in Rollo Bay are a great place to do this and only 15 minutes from the house. Or go into Souris and get fresh oysters, fresh lobster at the wharf from the fishermen, and the fish store has on hand all types of other fresh fish. Although there is lots of fresh fish you will also find fresh vegetables stands along the road or at Farmers Markets. We also have fresh poultry and meats at the butchers. About 10 minutes from the house is a 9-hole golf course, however that is only one of 28 golf courses that are on the island and in eastern PEI not far from the house are three of the best courses. Deep-sea fishing, whale watching or tuna fishing tours go out of Souris and North Lake and worth experiences.

We recently spent a wonderful week in PEI (JUL 16) We were a family of 7 ( 5Adt/2kids) and the cottage was very comfortable and well stocked. The cottage itself, was clean, cozy and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay away from home.
Gary was always quick to reply to my emails and very pleasant to deal with. I requested early checkin if possible as we were not sure of our arrival time, he did all possible and made it happen for us.
Wayne (Gary's dad), met us upon arrival and gave us the tour. He's such a wonderful man. He even made time to come by and take the family out for a boat ride.
- small suggestion: family room could use a larger TV and the bedroom upstairs with 2 beds was not most desirable.
aside from these 2 suggestions, everything about our stay at the cottage was wonderful.
Thank you Gary and Wayne.
Rozeeda and family.
My family of 8 members ( 6 adults 2 children) were in PEI for my son's wedding. It was great to have such a beautiful cottage as our home base. Gary was very easy to work with when planning our stay. He was also flexible in allowing a sunday to sunday stay which was needed as the wedding was on a Saturday. Most cottages rent saturday to saturday. The cottage was very comfortable for all of us and was well stocked with everything we needed from kitchen supplies to more than enough towels for everyone. Wayne greeted us and was very informative about the area and making sure our stay was comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit most nights but didn't get a chance to use the kayaks. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the area for any reason.
My family and I just got back from the most amazing stay in PEI. When my nieces were asked what they thought of their vacation they said "it was better than Disney." Gary and his father were very attentive and available to answer any questions.
We had 6 adults and 4 children in this beautiful house. The grass is a perfect place for the children to play or have a bonfire. The water is a great place to Kayak or cool down.
We were able to easily see the island from this GEM of a spot.
The house was clean and comfortable and went above and beyond our expectations. It have everything covered from the smallest of details.
It was close to amazing beaches, wonderful restaurants, and lots of sight seeing.
Thank-you for a wonderful stay. It was the best family meeting spot for people coming from all over the map.
My husband and I and our five young children (ages 2 through 11) had a wonderful stay at this cottage in Fortune, PEI. The cottage is spacious, well appointed, and in perfect condition as shown in the photos. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed the many meals (including freshly-caught fish) that we prepared there. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms well stocked. The dock on the river was a big attraction to the kids who enjoyed looking for shrimps, snails, and rocks. It was nice to be able to enjoy some canoeing and boating right off the backyard as well. Pat, the cottage manager, was very responsive to our questions and shared information about local activities with us. The cottage itself is located at the end of a quiet street, and an easy 15 minute drive to the grocery store, local beaches, and other attractions. We enjoyed looking for sea glass at Souris Beach, visiting the interpretative centre and beautiful beach at Greenwich, and doing a MacNeill's fishing tour. We highly recommend this cottage to any families looking for a great place to stay in the Eastern part of PEI.
The retreat is privately located on the beautiful Fortune River in eastern Prince Edward Island, many beaches and golf courses are within a short drive.
A private floating dock is located on the property which can be used by tenants for swimming, sunbathing and berthing your personal boat (for an additional fee). Immediately adjacent to the property is a common area with natural slip to launch your boat.
