House was well stocked and just as pretty as the pictures. We loved the location too!

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of space for our family of four, with one bedroom unoccupied. The house was very clean, well stocked for days when you want to eat in, and the owners were a pleasure to work with. The kids loved taking the path down to the sea to look for ocean life. We would definitely stay here again.

Great vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for us. The size was just right for our group - two adults and five teenagers. Love the quiet side of the island -- the house is only a couple of minutes from quaint downtown Southwest Harbor and even closer to the beautiful seascape near the Seawall campground. The right-of-way behind the house has a very short walk to the water, which the kids enjoyed. The house had all the amenities we needed; it was nice to know we didn't have to remember to pack everything. Kitchen fully stocked; top-notch appliances; linens provided; etc. Would definitely stay here again!

Acadia house turns out even nicer than expected!!

  • 5 of 5

The Acadia house worked great for our group of 8. My 80 year old parents were downstairs which was nice so they didn't have to climb stairs. Rarely can you find rental property with actually a dining room table with leaves to seat such a large group. Then we were able to use the smaller round table for an on-going puzzle! The den area worked great with bringing a rocker and smaller chair from another bedroom so that we could all watch tv in the evenings. The outdoor space was very private and worked great for our 2 golden retrievers. We enjoyed the short daily walk every day to the beach where it was so private and a great spot for our dogs to go swimming for exercise. The only negative would be the tall weeds growing in the front yard which surprised us for being attached to a nursery, but it had no affect on our great vacation. We actually liked being on southwest harbor side where it is less crowded. We have traveled to Maine about 8 times from Virginia over the years for a wonderful family vacation, but in the past we have always camped in Acadia National Park. This was certainly a nice change to come back to a house every day from hiking and enjoying the sights to have showers, internet and a great place to hang out with family! We even appreciated how well stocked the house was with paper towels, toliet paper and laundry detergent! Overall, we were very pleased and would certainly use this rental again!

Beautiful cottage on the lovely quiet side of MDI with easy access to many adventures.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a great stay hiking, biking, kayaking and exploring MDI and Acadia. It was great to come back to the lovely Peak a View and enjoy a relaxing fire outside, stroll down to the private beach, plan the next day's adventure on the comfy couches, or spread out for some quiet time in one of the private bedrooms. We cooked a few breakfasts and dinners and had everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen. Family stayed with us for part of the week and everyone had room to stretch out and unwind. Southwest Harbor has some terrific restaurants including Sips Restaurant as well as the Upper Deck. Enjoyed popovers at The CommonGood which is a free will donation that supports the community. The location of the home is away from it all but central to everything!

The owners of Peak a View Cottage have created something special in their well appointed home and were wonderful to deal with. We had total privacy but knew they were available for a quick question or two. We can't wait to return!

Perfect fit for 4 couples

  • 5 of 5

The house fit our needs perfectly. Decorated nicely. Short stroll to the water. Owners were friendly and responded instantly when we discovered a problem with the oven. It was fixed quickly. We will definitely try to stay here again on our next visit to Mount Desert Island.
