About Kent Montgomery

I started vacationing in Hood River in 1987 for the windsurfing and mountain biking. I moved to Portland in 1992 from Berkeley, CA to be closer to the gorge and to escape the rat race. I worked in Portland for 20 years and retired in December of 2013. I still enjoy windsurfing, cycling, swimming, backpacking and just about anything involving the outdoors.

Andrea works for the Forest Service in Washington and enjoys running with our 2 dogs, Monty and Nacho. We live in Trout Lake, WA.

Kent Montgomery purchased this house in 2003

Why Kent Montgomery chose Mt. Hood, The Gorge

I purchased the home in 2003 for a vacation home and it was one of the best decisions that I have made. I recently retired and decided to let others enjoy the property while I live up by Mt Adams. I love waking up to the view of Mt Adams while I enjoy my coffee.

What makes this house unique

The deck is situated between the living room and the master bedroom with access via sliding doors. The deck is protected from the wind with ample amount of sun and shade. There are large picturesque windows in the living room and master bedroom.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kent was very gracious in hosting us at the last minute. We appreciated the size and layout of the kitchen and dining area, as well as bbq on the deck. It was a great place to stop during an extended road trip to make our own food and do laundry.

Beautiful and Comftable

The host was very responsive and helpful. He got us a blowup bed for extra sleep options. The house was well maintained and had everything we needed. Great view of Mt Adams. Good location. Would love to come back.

Grand Place to stay when you visit Hood River

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable place to stay, with a great view of Mt. Adams. If your tired of motel rooms and can stay more than a day, which I highly recommend, this will be the place for you. See the gorge and visit the valley, then put your feet up and enjoy the last rays of sun light illuminate the snow capped crest of Mt. Adams. But don't miss the picturesque Mt. Hood!

We had a great time in the Hood River area and it started with renting this house over a hotel.

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time we have rented a house instead of using a hotel for a trip like this. The place was great. Loved the open concept for the living area and the deck between the living area and Master bedroom was great. Having two baths and laundry room was a big plus. The bed my wife and I used was great. Everything worked well and loved the layout of the house.

The owner was very helpful and you couldn't ask for a better guy to work with.

The Hood River area is just one great site after another to see. The town has great restaurants and the options were many.

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

Kent was a really nice host. The house had everything we needed. It was perfect for our group in town for a wedding. We took full advantage in the porch and the grill. Would stay in the house again if I found myself in the area!

High utility house in convenient location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults & 2 small children found Ken's house to meet all of our needs. The layout worked well for us. The house is well furnished with everything a family needs. All of the beds had excellent mattresses--the most important detail of a rental that many landlords overlook. The house was sparkling clean when we arrived. Ken was most helpful, even providing tips on mountain biking trails. The kitchen is well equipped, including a teapot, tea kettle and sharp knives for cooking--all essential items to our family of hobby chefs. We enjoyed walking to the Pine Street Bakery and downtown along pleasant streets.

Great property

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house. Our family stayed here 4 nights for a wedding in town and it worked out perfectly. The bedrooms are large and the beds are comfortable. We could not get enough of the breathtaking view from the picture window in the family room. The nice kitchen and laundry room made traveling with a baby so much more convenient. If we are ever in Hood River again we would absolutely stay here again.
