I have owed Watersedge camp over 12 years and am happy to share this piece of paradise with you.
Gerry purchased this House in 2005
Why Gerry chose Embden
Quiet location, beautiful water view.
What makes this House unique
The comfortable deck is only 10 feet from the waters edge. You can see the entire lake in both directions from this unique vantage point.

My wife and I had a great time on Embden Pond !
The lake was great and Gerry's cabin was truly located on the waters edge. The cabin came with about everything one would need for an extended stay at the lake including a fish pole that works. It was fun.
Area was peaceful and th pond was Beautiful
We had a great time while we were there, once I cleaned the cottage up. When we walked in there were pine needles on the carpet, in the tub and on the bathroom sink. The people before left wet towels in the hamper and I had to wash and dry them. Also the bed sheets were on the bed and when I looked they looked like they weren't washed, so again I had to wash all the bed sheets in the cottage. So the first day we were there I basicly had to clean the cottage. Not what I was execpting.
As for the beds, I believe you should replace both mattresses,my husband and I selpt on the first floor and both of us had rotten night sleep and back ache the next morniing, then slept upstairs and the mattress was no better.
My suggestion is to have a cleaning service come in after each rental. We pay enough money, I don't think you should depend on the previous rental to have the cottage clean. A cleaning service would.
Our family stayed at the cottage for most of the time. The grandkids had a great time using the equipment that was provided.
I didn't think there was much to do in the area without traveling a great distance. This part of Maine is too far for me, but it's beautiful
As I stated in the begining of this review, both my husband and I enjoyed the cottage and our stay once I cleaned. If I ever rent again I'll make sure that there is a cleaning service.
I left the cottage in better shape than I got it. the next person didn't have to clean after we left.
Nice & relaxing
Our little family had a great time over there (with our two girls : 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old). The cabin is a few feet from the water. The view from the cabin is amazing. The lake is beautiful. There is a little beach and a long deck a 30 seconds walk away. Also on the premises a little parc for kids, but which would need some love. Gerry is always quick to answer our queries. The spot/campground has a number of cabins, many were not occupied while we were there so did not feel cramped. Outside of the spot, road not great for walking. And not much things to do with kids if you drive around as the surroundings a bit run down. However, to stay in or out of cabin, and appreciate nature, I would highly recommend.
Just as great the second time
This was our second time at Gerry's camp. Once again we were blessed with outstanding weather (including a spectacular storm one evening that blew right down the lake), and outstanding views from the deck. The cabin comfortably fit our two families (4 adults and 4 kids) and had everything we needed to make the stay a home from home. Can't wait to go back next year again.
Another Great Get Away
This is the second year in a row that we have rented this cabin. This will not be our last time. This place is so peaceful and has everything you need. We had a great visit with family and friends. Having a place that you can go, relax, and have everyone come see you is priceless. Thank you to the owners for allowing people to share such a wonderful place with others. We went fishing in the local brooks and had good luck catching brook trout. My wife actually got in the kayak this year and had a great time. That is until she tried to get out at the beach. She got a little bit wet! The view from the deck is amazing and people where we live can not believe how beautiful the area is. The loons were back in full force this year. There is nothing like sitting on the deck in the dark listening to their songs. Words can not convey how much we love going to this cabin. Everything is there that you need. We are very comfortable and relaxed while staying there. If we won the Megabucks I would make an offer.
A perfect Thanksgiving get away
I know the Maine lakes are beautiful and inviting in summer, but there is something to be said about the quiet solitude of the off season. Gerry's camp was a perfect place to spend Thanksgiving week. It exceeded our expectations. With a couple of exceptions (which we knew about beforehand), everything we needed to prepare our feast was there in the kitchen. It was cold enough to use the wood-burning stove which made the open-plan living area very warm and cozy. Coming from the city, I'm always amazed at the star-filled night sky. It was spectacular. Early mornings brought beautiful sunrises with mist hanging over the lake.
We spent our days reading, watching dvd's, working a jigsaw puzzle, and exploring the surrounding area. Being hunting season, we saw several deer being weighed at Bait, Bolts, and Bullets in Solon, ME which, as the name infers, carries an eclectic assortment of goods.
I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to just hang out and relax. The place does have wi-fi which was a nice amenity. Our cell phone carrier, AT&T, provides only spotty service in that part of Maine, which really wasn't an issue. If asked, I would certainly recommend a week on Embden Lake.
There are many adventures and activities to be found in the area. Skowhegan, only 20 miles away, offers fine and casual dining, unique shopping and antiquing, a well know local theater, and hosts an annual fair. White water rafting, golf courses, biking, hiking and scenic drives are all at hand. Embden Lake, stocked with fish, boasts salmon, bass and lake trout, and there are many lakes, streams and ponds near-by to explore. Big game and upland bird hunting are popular, with local guides available. Fall foliage is exemplary, worth the trip in and of itself. Relax and let the world pass you by or keep busy with sports and activities, either way your stay at Waters Edge Camp will be unforgettable.
Other Activities: snowmobiling (groomed trails), ice fishing
