This 2400 post & beam schoolhouse sits on the babbling Yokum Brook in Becket, Mass. The house has an open floor plan, a large front porch, a terrace off the master bedroom overlooking the brook, and a fire-pit in the back yard for cooking that fish you just caught in the brook. The property has apple trees and raspberry bushes to round out your homegrown meal.
All bedrooms are on the second floor, which has a separate street entrance if needed. There are 4 single bed bedrooms and a master bedroom with a full size bed. A second bedroom has a double size bed and the other two bedrooms have single beds. All bed haves have brand new mattress pads. All new doors through out the house. The single bed, bedrooms are by sliding wood doors. There is a full bathroom on both floors.
You will feel miles away from everything, yet just a short drive to restaurants, shopping, theatre and music. For the hikers, you are conveniently located 1 mile from the Becket trailhead for the Appalachian Trail. For kayackers you are surrounded by an abundance of unspoiled lakes and ponds.

Country retreat for the family...
Booking was a breeze and Denise made certain that I clearly understood her listing. This is a bucolic retreat. The home just oozes charm. The shed behind the house is charming and picture perfect. The brook is lovely to cool your weary feet and for children to splash in. The raspberries made a tasty treat. The kitchen is well supplied. The grill and large front porch allow for wonderful family meals. I highly recommend the Becket Country Store for your forgotten last minute items. The Becket Quary and Sanderson Brook falls are excellent family friendly hikes, a little challenging but manageable for my 9,10, and 14 year old. Communications were prompt and helpful. I have a family of giants so some of the beds could have been more stable but that was a very minor inconvenience. Overall, we had an idyllic country vacation with lots of family time. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we began planning our next trip on the way home. Thank you, Denise, for helping me to share the way I grew up with my Southern city boys. Definitely a successful family vacation.
Very beautiful house. Denise is very sweet person. She is quick is replying to your question. House is next to water stream which adds beauty to the house. Very big backyard to do grill and play volleyball/Frisbee. House backyard has area to lit fire as well.
Superstores are 5 miles away from the house
Many bugs outside the house
Bedrooms are small (We were fine with it as living room and kitchen is big)
Minutes away from Jacobs Pillow, Theaters, Red Lion Inn, Tangle wood, Norman Rockwell Museums, wildlife, lakes, Hiking-Appalachian Trail, October Mountain any many more places
