Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin! It was nice having all the dishes and appliances in the kitchen. Our kids had a lot of fun playing and sleeping on the bunk beds and playing near the stream and outside. Very comfortable cabin and great for family with kids!

Very great stay here, everyone was wonderful to work with. Chris was very helpful with questions we would have, and would respond quickly and the information he gave was so helpful. We loved the amenities provided at the Trouthouse also, our toddler had a great time in the creek and with the toys on the deck. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

Time to relax!

  • 5 of 5

The property is wonderful! The stream behind the cabin is so clear that you can see the sand in the stream bed. The caretakers, Bill and his wife, obviously take great pride in their work, the house is well maintained and was very clean when we arrived. New pictures should be posted to show the “boardwalk” that one can use to get from the driveway to the guest cabin and then the main cabin – it made loading and unloading the vehicles quite easy. During our stay, there was a mechanical problem. Bill made it clear that he knew this was our vacation time and gave several options as to how the problem could be addressed at our convenience with the least intrusion possible. The kitchen was a lot of fun to cook in - high end appliances that include a convection oven. There is every type of pot, pan, cookie sheet, muffin tin etc. that one could wish for. There is a drawer full of different seasonings and flour and sugar are available. Firewood was even available with a wheelbarrow so that it was easy to transport.

While the property was wonderful for our party, potential renters should be aware that there is essentially only one sleeping space available for folks with limited mobility. In the main cabin, the three upstairs bedrooms can only be accessed by the lovely spiral stairs and the bathrooms are on the first floor. The guest house has a bed that is up against the wall on the first floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. This allowed my Mother who does not walk well to join us.

Everyone in our party loved the property as we could relax and unwind and we hope to be able to book this property again in the future.

It was a lovely house with every amenity to enjoy it both inside and outside. Loved the sound of the river out back - it was so relaxing. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The scenery all around the area was gorgeous.

Perfect for any type of get away!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in the trout house the cabin was clean, the wood work inside was beautiful and rustic, the laundry shoot upstairs was convenient, and the kids thought it was cool so they had fun throwing there clothes down it, you didn't have to want for anything there , they had everything you needed, toys for the kids , board games , cooking utensils, spices you name it they had it. The creek was a hit with everyone from 1 1/2 to 61 , the kids enjoyed swimming and rafting down the creek and the adults and kids enjoyed fishing. Everything is close by, places to hike and canoe and the train ride was awesome, the owner chris and his family were great to work with and very prompt on questions, the house keepers Bill and Carol took care of all our needs and even drove over to help us figure out the sleep number beds, I emailed the owner trying to figure the beds out and next thing yeah know someone was there helping us. Thanks for every thing our family of 12 had a blast and it never seemed crowded plenty of room for all , one last thing the guest cabin is great for my parents who can't do stairs, we loved the porches the provided baby gate was nice, we could block off the back porch so the baby could have a play area out side , I could go one and on!! Thanks again!!!

Wonderful!! Best week ever!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time ever with our kids this week at the trouthouse! Literally everything was available even outside toys for the kids. The kids loved the creeks and it was so peaceful to listen to them moving past the cabin. The two porches were great! There are a lot of things to see in the nearby area. Chris was great to deal with and once we were there Bill and Carol were super responsive and so sweet!! We made great memories and really enjoyed our time there. We will definitley be back!!

About Chris Currie

I am an educational program development consultant and my wife edits our community newspaper. We live with our three children near Washington, D.C.

Chris Currie purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Chris Currie chose Titusville

The Trouthouse is our vacation home, which we are pleased to share with you when we are not staying there. I designed the cabin and guest house to be our dream get-away, and hope that it will be yours, as well.

What makes this cabin unique

Today it is almost impossible to find a modern vacation home right on top of a stream bank, due to flood regulations. We were able to build our new cabin on piers on the site of an older cabin that was razed. As a result, you can dine on the back deck overlooking the stream as well as fall asleep at night listening to its music.
