About Stacy Hughes
Stacy has been managing numerous beautiful lake properties since 2011, and Chickadee Cabin in particular for the past several years. She has enjoyed helping the owner share this wonderful cabin with other families. He says, "it has been in my family since 1996 when it was built. Now a widower, and living elsewhere, I am pleased to share this special place for other families to enjoy now."
Why Stacy Hughes chose Round Lake
The owner indicates that his family loved sitting out on the deck, or by the fire in the fire ring, cooking S'mores and watching the sun go down over the lake! It was wonderful to be in the quiet bay, and able to catch Muskies right from the dock! We also enjoyed taking our pontoon boat out onto the (Placid) Lake, which is part of the Tiger Cat Flowage, giving us many acres on which to fish and explore!
What makes this Cabin unique
Chickadee Cabin is unique... being in a beautiful wilderness lakefront setting with amazing boating and fishing, yet in close proximity (only 4 miles away!) to amenities such as a bar/restaurant in case you don't feel like cooking one evening! Other on-site amenities include a pontoon boat, a gas grill, and a Jacuzzi tub!

Great place. Will definitely request to book again.
The cabin is fabulous. The knotty pine interior gives it a wonderful woody feel. The spaciously open areas add to the coziness of the cabin. The rooms are very spacious. The lower level is a woderful place to cuddle up by the fire and play family games with the wonderful view of the lake. The overall experience was one that left us wanting to book very soon again. Thanks to are wonderful manager Stacy who made the experience a wonderful adventure for us all for years to remember. When you book with Stacy you book with the best. Thanks again for a wonderful time it was a Super Birthday the best ever April. T.
Thank you so much for your kind words, April! :-) The owners and I are so pleased you enjoyed the coziness of the cabin yet still had plenty of space for everyone. We are happy you had a wonderful time and a birthday to remember. We look forward to welcoming you back any time!
Great winter get-away
We’ve stay here for the Birkie the last 3 years and it is perfect for our group of kids and parents for a ski weekend. Easy to get to OO, Cable or Hayward. Enough room for what we need. Great communication/management by Stacy.
David, thank you for continuing to enjoy Chickadee Cabin for the 3rd year. And what a perfect Birkie week we had this year! We're so happy your families were able to ski together and enjoy the Birkie festivities. We are always happy to welcome you back and help make your stay a memorable one. :-)
Spacious, Cozy Cabin was perfect for our stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Chickadee cabin. It was very cozy but lots of space. Very equipped with anything you may need. This was a winter trip but definitely would come for a summer stay. The location was good for restaurants and going to downtown Hayward. Thank you Stacy for all your help, we appreciate you checking in to make sure all was good. Oh! Upon our arrival, we were left a box of wonderful chocolates!
We are happy you enjoyed the chocolates and it was my pleasure to ensure that your stay was memorable, Michelle! :-) Chickadee Cabin does have that perfect combination of being cozy yet spacious. We will be happy to welcome you back in any season!
Wonderful and picturesque setting
Our stay at the Chickadee Cabin was one to remember. Hayward is known for breathtaking scenery and it was right out our back door. Many many moons back, our family used to vacation in Hayward twice a year. This was the first time in over 30 years since I had been back there but it’s like I never left. Some buildings have changed but the hospitality still remains. Ms. Hughes was a pleasure to work with before and during our stay. Chickadee cabin has everything you could want. Plenty of room for 8. Amenities galore! And it’s a snowmobilers dream with a trail less than a block away. I won’t be waiting 30 plus years to come back; and when I do, I know where I’m staying - Chickadee cabin.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Corey! :-) The beauty of our Northwoods is truly breathtaking. Whether you enjoy the speed of snowmobiles or the quiet crunch of snow under your snowshoes, the Northwoods holds winter beauty and enjoyment for everyone. We are so happy you enjoyed the amenities of Chickadee Cabin and will welcome your return any season.
PERFECT! Look no further, this is the one! Very spacious, well appointed!
This was my second stay at Chickadee. Has the up north cabin feel, this is a beautiful home! Perfect for groups, guys or girls week-end, families, or a romantic get-away! There is plenty of space for everyone. Stacy is very responsive, seeing to our every need. The pontoon is FREE with your stay, great fire pit, and a secluded setting on peaceful Lake Placid. Kitchen is fully stocked. We took advantage of some great food that was brought to the cabin and prepared by wonderful Chef Ray! Check out his website or tell him what you like and he will send you a selection of menu options. My 2 visits were with a girls week-end and loved it so much wanted to bring hubby back. We've stayed at many VRBO's, and Chickadee is at the top of the list. We'll be back!
Stephanie, we are so pleased you had such a wonderful girls weekend both times you visited Chickadee Cabin. It is always our goal to help make your visit as enjoyable as possible! :-) Chef Ray is an amazing chef and I'm so glad you enjoyed his culinary expertise. We welcome you back any time!
It was great.
