Anthony LaPlaca purchased this cottage in 2012
Our country home was renovated and remodeled to fit today's lifestyle. The area is close to city of Charlottesville but tucked in the hillside near Monticello near Ash Lawn Highland, Morven and numerous wineries and close to town of Scottsville along the historic James River with restaurants and shops.
A real 'home away from home.' Beautifully landscaped gardens and fenced in front yard of the cottage.
This is a charming and very comfortable home located on a rural road between Charlottesville and Scottsville VA. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and the bathrooms very well appointed with comfortable towels etc. Everything was very clean and the owners made themselves available in case we needed anything (we didn't). All in all we were very happy with this property.
I chose this property for its two bedrooms and two baths, since a friend was going to join me for a girls' getaway weekend. When she couldn't make it, my husband joined me instead, and it was still perfect for our needs. The cottage is absolutely charming, and as a collector of vintage items myself, I found the many vintage items delightful. But more importantly were the details, which so many rental property owners overlook completely -- good reading lights instead of low-wattage light bulbs. Good reading chairs. A fully equipped kitchen with things like aluminum foil so we didn't need to buy some for just a couple days. Kleenex in bathrooms AND bedrooms. We got a kick out of the goats bleating their greetings every time they heard us go in or out. The cottage is comfortable, the grounds are charming, and we will definitely be returning.
Winding country roads and beautiful scenery led us to this lovely cottage and farm. Just up the road from Monticello and close to Charlottesville and Scottsville everything we wanted or needed was within a reasonably short drive. The cottage is spacious comfortable and well appointed with everything from fluffy towels and comfortable beds to a nicely stocked kitchen. If you are planning a get away trip to Western Virginia this is the perfect spot!
We really enjoyed this delightful cottage - very comfortable, the owners have provided for every eventuality - great attention to detail.
Surrounded by beautuful rolling hills - Charlottesville offered so many excellent restaurants. Monticello really worth a visit.
The animals were the real delight!
This is our second stay at the beautiful Rolling Meade Cottage and Farm. The house is absolutely lovely with beautiful roses and other flowers in bloom at the entrance. It was a rainy weekend, but that did not take away from the tranquility and beauty of the place. We were there during graduation weekend and it was a nice place to come "home" to after many outings and celebrations. The goats are adorable and so much fun to watch as are the horses and donkeys.
This is a nice getaway for a couple or a family. Carter's Mountain is close as well as Monticello, Ashlawn, and several wineries. Scottsville is a neat little town, too.
My husband and I highly recommend this wonderful place. Thank you to the owners for a very warm welcome!

We had the most amazing and relaxing stay. Comfortable and quite it was more then I had imagined. The outdoor living space was an additional bonus beautifully landscaped with a fire pit and the always entertaining goats. Can't wait to return! Thank you
