Why Rob Reed chose Big Bear

Rob and Marie wanted to find a cozy cabin to get away from the hustle and bustle with their young son. They wanted a location where there was fishing in the spring/summer and skiing in the winter. Big Bear was the perfect location, and this property was the perfect place -- the perfect amount of peace and quiet, close enough to get to the slopes and the Lake, easy to get to, and just far enough to be the perfect sanctuary.

Cute on the outside, but....

  • 2 of 5

I would have liked to have been able to give a good rating, but unfortunately our stay was not exactly pleasant. I gave it 2 stars only because the cabin is in a nice, quiet and beautiful neighborhood. The place itself is cute on the outside, but I wish I could say the same for the inside. It needs some major tlc. This place is a bit run down. Walking into the place it has a significantly strong smell of gas coming from the furnace. The nights were cold, but if we turned up the heater the smell would get unbearable. Even though we kept it at the lowest by the morning the house smelled of gas. Second, the place was dirty and disgusting. My husband and I spent the first day cleaning up. (I wasn't expecting to have to spend my first day of vacation cleaning). Just to give an idea there was food, a female sanitary wrapper, toilet paper roll and who knows what other unidentifiable objects were underneath the bed. Bathroom, kitchen, and floors were all dirty. Aside from it being dirty the bathroom sink's water was backing up. Management was called upon our arrival to notify them about the gas smell and sink, however we never heard back from them. The roku, PlayStation and Netflix were not working. The blankets and pillows that were provided smelled like they had not been washed in ages....(smell of sweat)...luckily we took our own sheets and blankets. These were the major issues we had. Sadly to say I don't think I've ever been so happy to leave a place that I was supposed to spend a nice family weekend at. We will not be staying here again!

Cozy

  • 4 of 5

Very cozy little cabin. Only problem would be there was a small leak in the bedroom when it rained I made the manager aware.

Owner's Response: Sorry for the inconvenience of the leak, but ty for alerting our managers. It turns out that the water heater needed to be replaced. It was replaced last week.

Quaint cabin

  • 5 of 5

My hubby and I had a relaxing time at this quaint little cabin, perfect for 2 people. It was clean and had everything we needed. The neighbors across the street were a bit loud but quieted down later in the evening.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfect weekend getaway. The cabin looked just like the pictures. Location was perfect because it was close to ski resorts, great restaurants, and grocery stores. Owner was fast at responding to inquiring about the cabin and left detailed instructions on everything provided and how everything worked. Truly enjoyed the stay.

Cozy little retreat for two!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came to Big Bear to stay at the LoveNest to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin is small but very well appointed. We had everything we needed to be comfortable. I do have a few suggestions to make it even better. A couple of chairs for sitting outside would be great. Evening in the summertime is so pretty, we would have loved to have some outside seating. Also, the bathroom could use one flat surface for stowing toiletries and a hand towel ring. These items are minor but worth mentioning. Please know that this is a great cabin and these additions would only enhance the already wonderful experience. The furniture in the place is very comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need to make a meal or just enjoy your restaurant takeout. We loved the Roku and used it to watch movies as well as play music on Pandora. Plenty of supplies to facilitate cleaning. Thank you to Rob for being so helpful from the time I set up the reservation, throughout the stay and refunding our deposit right away. He answered every question I had and very quickly. I also love that he offers a discount if you bring your own linens and do your own cleaning. Not many cabin owners offer that option. Thank you again for a memorable getaway for our anniversary! We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! We are looking into the additions to the bathroom (including a travel hairdryer that hangs on the wall) and seating on the porch, so thank you for those suggestions. Hope to have those in time for your next visit. :) Blessings to you and yours!
