About the Property

This lovely log home is 1,800 square foot, 3 BR and 2BA on 3 acres

NOTE: From Nov 19, 2016 until Dec 31, 2017, I am only taking monthly reservations with a minimum stay of 3 months, by month by month lease agreement. The sunrise and sunset views to the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains is simply beautiful from this ridge top retreat. This house is only a 5 minute walk to Highlands Brewery. The house is shaded by large Oaks and the back yard is bordered by hardwood forest and a beautiful duck pond beyond. This home has country charm but is convenient to everything in Asheville. The yard is a bird watching paradise and is professionally landscaped. We provide a brochure with listings of world class restaurants, the art gallery scene, sporting events, night life, local breweries, many events and attractions all within minutes of your home away. This home is well furnished and has ample room for 4 couples or a party of 10 including children. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and is located on a no-outlet street. There is off-street driveway parking for 4 or more cars or a large RV (50 ft). There are 3 HD-TV’s with cable hookup and free Wi-Fi, stereo, VCR, CD. The book shelves are fully stocked with books and some magazines for your reading pleasure. We are certain you will feel right at home in this comfortable and convenient cabin nestled in the Appalachian Mountains.
The owners are experienced apartment owners and property managers and are available with maintenance needs at a moment’s notice. This home has been recently remodeled with tender loving care and is now our second home. This cabin is within 5-minutes walking distance to the Highland Brewery, NC Nature Center and Asheville’s Azalea Park's picnic shelters, swimming pool; volley ball courts, basketball courts, soccer field complex, hiking trails, and the trout stocked Swannanoa River. Watch your child compete in a soccer game and walk home to a great meal and a great evening afterwards. The Highland Brewery hosts the local “Brewery Bus Tour” and has many musical events. The cabin is located in East Asheville and is located near two major cross roads making it convenient to many other local attractions just minutes away.

This home is recommended for: Age 55+with Grandchildren, anyone with a physical disability, honeymoon or a romantic getaway, adventure seekers, outdoor enthusiasts, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, group couples party with all adults. Great for businessmen on temporary duty in the area, loved ones visiting patients at the Veterans or St. Joseph’s hospital, or Grandparents/parents attending soccer events at Azalea Park.

Reservations: We prefer to make reservations at minimal of two weeks in advance of daily or weekly reservations, and more than one month advance for monthly reservations.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2000

About the owner: We are newlyweds that each have a home. This lovely cabin will be our second home that I once shared with my widow. We are both employed with the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville. I am originally from Upper Michigan and my wife is an Asheville native. I am an experienced property manager and owner of an apartment building. I am a Landscape Architect and have used my professional expertise to landscape the yard of this home. My wife is an experienced campground manager and administrator. We provide tender loving care to this home which was recently renovated including new wiring, plumbing, heating and air conditioning. Although we work full time we clean and make necessary repairs to this home ourselves. We have a professional cleaning services and handy men we can call when needed. I am an avid bird watcher and have landscaped this home with that in mind. I have always enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and sunrises across the valley to the Blue Ridge Parkway and beyond to the Black Mountain Range of the Appalachian Mountains. We are avid outdoors people and we have always enjoyed the wonderful outdoor activities that Asheville has to offer. I am a watercolor artist with several paintings on display in this home. We enjoy the outdoor sports that are close at hand such as fishing, bicycling, kayaking, camping, and golf. I have an interest in woodworking and have built a tear drop camper that can be made available for extra sleeping quarters with sufficient notice. The camper has a double size air mattress thatt is very comfortable. Kids especially love the camping experience even if it is only in the front yard. I have a son who is a Chef and the kitchen amenities reflect that experience. My first wife was handicapped spending much of her life on crutches or in a wheelchair and so this home has been made fully accessible for her, and can now be utilized by anyone who may be physically handicapped. We strive to make this truly your home away from it all.

Why the Owner Chose Asheville, NC, USA:
I purchased this log home to be our dream home. It has cozy country charm and yet is so convenient to everything that Asheville has to offer. I have always loved the rustic cozy feeling that only an authentic log home can provide. A morning breakfast with its view to an Appalachian sunrise is simply not to be missed. The sunset views on the opposite side of the house are just as incredible. My wife grew up in Johnson City and we were so lucky to secure jobs in her home town area. We believe Asheville to be one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Asheville is frequently voted one of the best cities of its size to live it. It has a fine reputation as one of the top brewery cities in the country and the Highland Brewery, voted many times as Asheville's favorite, is just a 5-minute walk away along a woodland trail. You can have a beer party, listen to frequent outdoor concerts there, and walk home without fear of driving. You will love all the outdoor opportunities this home will provide you convenient access to. The North Carolina Nature Center and Asheville Azalea Park is within walking distance. Azalea park had the most popular soccer fields in the area, and there is always school age and adult competitions on most any day to watch. Children will find this home so convenient to many of the outdoor activities they love such as swimming in the community pool, playing basketball at the modern courts, playing sand lot volleyball or fishing in the streams or local fishing pond at Azalea park. You can walk along Azalea park trails all the way to the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can enjoy miles and miles of more trails. The fields below are within view of the property is a organic farm and there are bordering ponds frequented by waterfowl. Hawk or geese fly overs of the house are common. Asheville has incredible Blue Grass Music events, movie festivals, art festivals, brewery tasting, art galleries and more to be enjoyed by anyone.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This is a very comfortable, private, home in a location that provides wonderful cool breezes year around during the very comfortable summer temperatures that are so common in Asheville. Asheville winters are so mild and summers are cool. Many Asheville natives are not even aware there are houses on the ridge above the North Carolina Nature Center, where this home is located. Interstate 40 is only 2 miles away which is a main artery to all surrounding communities. Coming from Michigan, I am always amazed that there are almost no mosquitoes to speak of. I have seen deer, wild turkey, owls. hawks, bear, dove, geese, ducks, fox and other wildlife from my deck. I love the cozy country feeling this home gives me while being convenient to all the outdoor or entertainment activities Asheville has to offer. Following is a description of some of these activities and there convenient proximity to many special tourist destinations in this area: Walking Distance Asheville Azalea City Park, North Carolina Nature Center, Asheville Municipal Golf Course, Highlands Brewery, Veteran's Hospital, Blue Ridge Parkway trails to the Folk Art Center and Parkway Visitor Center From 5- 15 minutes Biltmore House and Winery with hiking/bicycling trails and botanical gardens, Grove Park Inn & Spa, Asheville Mall, Blue Ridge Parkway headquarters and Visitor Center, Downtown Asheville, North Carolina Botanical Gardens, U.S. Forest Service Bent Creek Hiking and Mountain Bicycling Trails, many local cinemas, grocery stores, ice cream and coffee shops, Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Farmer's Market, many golf courses FROM 30 Minutes to 1 Hour U.S. Cradle of Forestry with all of its hiking and trout fishing, Mt. Mitchell SP, numerous waterfalls along the Blue Ridge Parkway or DuPont State Forest, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock SP, Grandfather Mountain SP Park, Wolf Creek Ski area, Hot Springs, Graveyard Fields Forest Service Hiking, Cherokee Casino and area attractions, Carl Sandburg Home
