About amy gregory

This lakefront house has been renovated from top to bottom in a simple, sophisticated cottage style. The owners have lived and worked in the Burlington area for over 30 years in real estate related fields. They love life on Lake Champlain, and are happy to share the experience for your next lakefront getaway.

Why amy gregory chose Lake Champlain

Life on Lake Champlain is truly unique and breathtaking. This beautiful home with westerly orientation has some of the best views found anywhere, overlooking the lake and the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains across the lake in New York State.. Recently renovated, sophisticated, very clean and neat. One of the best locations on Lake Champlain, very close to Burlington (10 minutes) and Shelburne Village (5 minutes), yet on a very private dirt road.

(Please note that property is not suitable for young children or pets. Sorry - no exceptions.)

What makes this house unique

Close to Burlington in the desirable town of Shelburne, but feels like miles away from civilization. Tons of restaurants, festivals, farmers markets, museums and shops very close by, but there may be no need to venture out - the deck chairs, beach, inviting Lake Champlain water, hammock and sunsets may be all you need. if you are up for a short walk (10 minutes), several restaurants are within walking distance, with world class restaurants (the Inn at Shelburne Farms, Hen of the Wood) just a few minutes drive away.

Beautiful home, spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing week in this lovely home situated on Lake Champlain's Shelburne Bay. The house is beautifully designed by the owners, with an open concept and lots of windows overlooking the lake. It provided an inviting and comfortable place for my husband and I along with our two adult children, ages 22 and 19. And oh the views -- facing west over the bay and the Adirondack mountains, we ensured we were "home" each night to sit out on the deck and watch the sunsets. They were spectacular. The water was clear and wonderful for swimming and kayaking (4 kayaks are provided), easily accessible via steps down to the beach. The deck is built out over the water and was a favorite spot for reading and enjoying views of the lake and mountains (our daughter's favorite spot was the large hammock nearby). As I shared with friends, "it doesn't get better than this".

In addition to relaxing on the water the location was perfect for us. Plenty of good restaurants, shopping and sights to see in Shelburne, and just 10 minutes north is Burlington, one of our favorite cities with wonderful shops (check out Earth Bound and Lake Champlain Chocolates) and restaurants. When we weren't enjoying kayaking and swimming in the lake, we visited the Ben and Jerry's factory, hiked, joined locals in line for Heady Topper (if you've never had a Heady Topper it's worth a try -- even for those of us who are not beer lovers), and even took in a Twiddle concert on the Burlington waterfront (one of our 19 year old's favorite jam bands) which was really fun and a beautiful venue.

Lastly, the owners were lovely, inviting us to "make yourselves at home" and setting things up to let us do just that. We very much appreciated their warm hospitality and would recommend them and their home without hesitation.

The perfect location on Lake Champlain. Very private and quiet lakefront location in the exclusive town of Shelburne, yet only 10 minutes to vibrant and lively downtown Burlington with its many shops, restaurants, theatres, festivals, bikepaths and colleges. Enjoy local farmers' markets, the world famous Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms, local wineries and breweries (Magic Hat is just around the corner!), many fabulous local restaurants - some within walking distance. Explore the wonders of Lake Champlain, or cross the lake to the New York side for a dinner out and even more adventures. Many great day hikes up Camels Hump, Mount Philo, Snake Mountain, or check out the fabulous bike path on the shores of the lake, stretching from Burlington all the way to the Champlain Islands. Or just relax on the lakefront deck or in the hammock, and watch the sailboat races on the bay and enjoy a world class sunset.
